How to stop a software update messages without updating my software?

I continue to receive messages from software update asking me to update Firefox 30.0 for a update of security and stability. I do not wish to update anytime soon, and I'm tired of constantly getting these messages. Only two options I give myself is to "Ask later" or "Firefox updated". When I hit the button "Ask later", the message regularly. I don't want the message to go back, and I don't want to update. Is there a way to stop these messages come to me without actually updating?

Thank you.

Yes, this is how I added the directory.

Of course, I had deleted some of the default values, such as "-*" of the VI option search path and that caused the popup message.

  • How to stop windows defender updates to install immediately

I have Vista SP2, fully implemented to date. Processor 3 Ghz, 2 GB ram.  I have my windows updates set to automatic at 03:00.  These always install at 03:00 or when I select Install.  The problem I have is that these Windows Defender updates install immediately as soon as my pc starts or soon there after.  They seem to be ignoring my settings of windows updates.  It really drives me crazy because I have to wait and stop what I want to do both.  Windows defender updates slow down my pc or freeze the programs sometimes while I'm trying to use the pc.  Same IE9 sometimes freezes because of them.  Sometimes, I have to restart the pc to make it work well. They scan as soon as they install and they install as soon as they are published.  They are supposed to be for help, not to make my pc use miserable.  How can I make windows defender updates obey my windows update settings?

Have you tried to install manually instead of by means of automatic updates?

NIS 2012 should have disabled Windows Defender when it has been installed on your Vista operating system.  You turn Windows Defender?

What you describe as gel application hangs, looks slow performance software conflicts such as those that occur between contradictory antimalware programs.

I no longer use Windows Defender because of the risk of conflicts and problems with MSE.  I know people who have asked for advice in the forums etc who have had similar problems that you and their options were to uninstall or disable Windows Defender or uninstall their existing such as MSE, Norton, AVG, AV program.  Uninstall Windows Defender is not necessary, eliminated the problems of error messages, etc.

You may notice the following excerpt from:

    MSE and Windows Defender

Q: what happens if I do not disable or uninstall Windows Defender, if I use Microsoft Security Essentials?
A: If Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Defender are both running, your system can know the performance degradation and other problems caused by the conflict of two services providing real-time protection at the same time.

The same Council also applies to people who use NIS, and Windows Defender.

If you want to ignore my suggestions it is certainly your option.

If you can continue to follow this thread maybe someone else will have another suggestion for your question.

    Kind regards...

  • How to stop windows auto update 8.1?

Good so today I opened my computer and a message poped upwards and told me that windows 8.1 would be updated in a single day. I already had windows 8.1 front and I hated it! It slowed my computer down way, and nothing has worked. I couldn't install most of my drivers I needed because they were not compatible with 8.1. Most of the time when I looked for something in my menu start it took about 30 seconds for the first word to show. FPS game has also declined. I know that windows 8.1 is * and it does not work on my computer because I already installed it twice and both times I had to copy all my computer and reset it to factory settings and copy everything back and who took nearly a week for the copy of things. Now I have twice as many things and I don't want to copy all my computer and restart it copies any return which will take several days and I need my computer for school. I won't be forced to install 8.1 and it won't let me cancel the update, so in a day or next time I reboot I get Microsofts worst OS on my computer and I'm not going to tolerate that. Microsoft also do not ask me for more details on what are my issues with 8.1, because they are extremely useless because you tell me things as clean my computer but that helps forever and you already tried to tell me to clean my computer several times and its just useless. So is useful or let a member of the community help me and stay calm!

I don't know how useful my advice will be, but I'll tell what I did and what has spent so far, just in case it is helpful at all.

As described by everyone, today (October 21) MS. instead of sending the usual applications annoying to update, said he was ready to install 8.1 and requested I do so soon.

"He asked several times in one morning, the first bidder to let me"install later"without a specific time mentioned, but the last time he only gave me options"Now""1 h"2 h" and 4 'h' of 'now '.

Needless to say that I was impressed, so I tried to kill the task, with the old ctrl-alt-delete.

No, I'm sure that surprising, defective, because this new update task apparently had precedence over such an action of the user, and would not go away.

So without selecting an option, I hit reset and restarted to buy some time.

To restart, I went in airplane mode (hoping to suppress his ability to communicate with the update servers and therefore not encourage to restart his annoying behavior.

Then I went in my task scheduler and noticed the task to 8.1 day and the related, pursuing the task to update my system.

I killed both of them: but it was not a permanent solution with all that installed it's still out there.

So I tried to find the root of the problem: I looked back through updates.

The only windows update recently which had everything related to the modernization of the system that I had noticed was KB2952664. This little guy had no other apparent use only for "help" upgrade in the future. "

    So I uninstalled immediately.

I also noticed that the task above upgrade called a .exe file, called

    C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\SetupHost.exe

It's dangerous, I know, but I have renamed it specifically this file "SetupHost.bak", so there is no way it works again without having to reinstall or at least until I know it's course.

O, and I have disabled, of course, auto-updates of all kinds of Ms.

It has been 2 hours so far, and I am attached to the internet well.

Let's see if we can keep this job.

One last comment, however. If this small task I uninstalled was the source of this:

    (1) sneaky sneaky, sly, placing through especially on a time delay, so we do not know what was causing the problem until it was too late.

    (2) how all the flavors of the miserable did they prevent the end user to have his say.

The ironic part is that I already earn 8.1 on my other machines, but this machine was fine with 8, and that's how I intend to stay. Ramming things through on users like really disappoints me.

Microsoft - I think I speak for many of us complain about this patch.

    Stop treating us like children.

Even if we make the wrong decisions, they aren't OUR decisions, your.

I prefer to be well informed and make my own decisions, even if I make a mess of things, that is in the dark and make things "for my own good."

And informing me to make my own decision is not the same as tell me you want to do while you're doing it without worrying.

I won't be close Firefox until I can get rid of this unwanted update. I need this information as soon as POSSIBLE, because not to close Firefox means that I can't turn off my computer either.

You will need to delete the folder updates\0 and possibly put record to date if Firefox has already prepared this file to apply the update on the next departure.

  • How to stop the automatic update to 8.0 (1?)

    Related to: installation of updates

For awhile, I had received alerts asking when I tried installing 8.0 (or 8.1... I don't remember).  A drop down menu allowed me to select "Remind Me later".  It has happened from time to time, but was simply a minor inconvenience.  HOWEVER, recently these alerts is no longer offer me the option "Remind Me later".  My choices are 'Now,' 'One hour', 'Two Hours', etc.   The first time it appeared, I was intrigued by the absence of the previous option, but could not get control of my computer back until I got something.  So, I took 4 hours, expecting to be invited again.  Stupid thing embarks on an update in 4 hours while I was working.  I couldn't stop, so I stop it manually to my computer.  He then had to go a process to restore my previous version.

How can I stop these propagandist automated facilities?  Not to be dramatic, but it feels a bit like my computer has a stalker!  It happened twice this morning, and I can just turn off my computer manually to stop the "recovery."  It's not ideal.

I don't want window 8 (8.1?).  I've heard horrible things can happen.  I'm not a programmer, nor a hardware expert, so this is beyond my knowledge.  Anyone know how I can turn off, turn off, whatever, the automatic update unwelcome and unwanted?  Help me please!   «.. . for Dummies"level instructions please.  :-D

  • How to stop SKYPE auto updates?

I have a desktop running Windows 7. I put it in place so I have to approve downloads/updates (defined in this way after fighting Windows 10). Every day I have to refuse SKYPE updates.

This computer does not have a microphone or camera or SKYPE and will never be.

How can I get so I must not refuse anything on several occasions related to SKYPE?

Could not find anything in the HELP that says how to do this.

    Thank you.

If it is available and you don't want - you don't select it.

As for not getting the OFFER at all - not likely to occur.  Even if you hide, if it changes enough where the hidden item is not the same (exactly) as hidden - the 'new' element will be offered.

Have you ever run this PowerShell command?

    Get-AppxPackage * skypeapp * | Delete-AppxPackage

    You might want to.
