How to support the family to remote computer?

I would be happy to discussion of experience people have had with the support of a member of the family at a distance.

For example, my mother (in computer science) often has questions ("what should I do with this pop-up?") and problems that require a knowledgeable support.

I live 400 miles away.  Resolve things by phone is a painful experience, my mother was my eyes and my hands.  One of the knowledgeable family (actually a certified technician) lives more closely; but it is not available.

I have heard of, but know almost nothing, MS remote Terminal and a product called Logme in rescue.

They have an equivalent capacity in remote control of someone's computer?  There are other products that do pretty much the same thing?

I have had a few experiences, from the point of view of my mother, "Rescue" when I had a with Symantec technicians debugging session.  They use the "Rescue".  I was very impressed by its capabilities and user interface.

I liked the fact that "Rescue" automatically reconnected once the system has restarted (and I logged as long as user admin mastering).

I also liked the fact that I had to connect to them first.  I do __not__ want a solution where everyone can connect to the computer of my mother on the internet if they know the right things (whatever it is).

A problem with "Rescue" - or at least, the use of Symantec of it: it took that I connect to a web site using IE.  Of course, this would mean that a web server is running on the computer of the support person - me!

I hope this isn't the only way to connect to a server to "rescue".  I might need to ask people to 'Rescue', unless anyone here has any experience with it.

Anyway, any ideas or suggestions of things I should consider in the assessment of alternatives would be appreciated.

I understand your sentiment, there are many useful honest software developers who provide excellent free software.

This specific one is based on the model for personal purposes only.

If you are a professional user, you will have to pay for the service.

The idea here is not the software but it Service. I.e. the use of their server as a server of circumstances mitigating to avoid the need for a configuration remotely (especially when the remote user who gets help don't know how to set up sophisticated remote software, find external/internal IPs and ports are open through routers).

If you want to remotely on your own from scratch, using Windows Remote Desktop (RDT0 or UltraVNC (UVNC).

In the case of RTD and UVNC you probably will have to go once to set up the remote location and make remote automatically ready for order.

Software visualization of the team is really dressed up UltraVNC. They do not load the software since Ultra VNC is a free software.

I use native Windows Remote Desktop, stand-alone UltraVNC and Team Viewer, they all work very well.

The decision that one to use (in my case) depends on the circumstances of the specific remote connection.

In your case, Team Viewer seems to be the right solution.

    There are several possibilities.

    If the file is on a network resource or a removable device like a USB key, just delete Deletes without going through the trash.  It sounds like what is happening in your situation (which is your "DVR photo/video plug and play" device?).

    Look carefully at the message when you press the delete key - he probably said, "Are you sure that you want to delete 'Filename'?" rather than "Are you sure that you want to send 'filename' in the trash?

    Another, less likely, causes:

    It is not possible to findout without verification or error info... etc.
    Otherwise, restart these jobs perticluar and follow closely.

    You can not.
    I complained on this subject too a few years previously, management has acknowledged the problem, but still no sign of wanting to improve behavior.
    Only solution I know is restarting sqldev.
