How to transfer files from the old hard drive to a disc new hard, old hard disk has been removed?
I had a hard disk going bad. Installed a new hard drive and the need to transfer files from the old hard drive. I have an external enclosure for the old hard drive and can connect by usb port.
The process is fairly simple once you put the old drive in the external box. You can use the usual methods of copy and paste in Windows Explorer. If you copy files, complete folders, you can take a look at RichCopy.

How to transfer music from an external hard disk files the reader thumb
I have my music on my external hard drive and I have a usb input on my car radio (up to 8 GB), but I tried to transfer playlists of hd for the thumb without result. I synchronized in wmp11 but also tried to add files to wmp, but the files on the hard disk are staying to the format of the album and do not appear as they do id they are on my hard disk. is there a post hd USB RIP tab with drag and drop each song in a record high desk then copy of thumb? all the files were on my old computer with windows xp and it was much easier to use it. WTF.
Hello knottywolf,
· Have you tried to copy the files from the external hard drive to the flash drive?
· What are the type of files that can be played by your car stereo?
· After a synchronization of devices, have you tried to copy the tracks instead copy the playlist?
If you are not able to transfer the playlist directly from Media Player, you should try to copy the files to your external hard drive from Windows Explorer and paste them to the USB.
Thank you

transfer files from the old computer XP to new Vista computer
I want to transfer files from my old computer with XP to Vista new computer
using a USB cable. tried the transfer Assistant, without success.
You need a transfer cable as in this Google search, not a regular USB cable. You have flash drives? You can use them. DVD as well, but it takes more time. -

Satellite L300 - how to transfer data from the old HARD drive?
I have a toshiba Satellite 2410-504, which gave me the blue screen so I bought a L300 to replace.
Different are documents and photos I would like to recover from the old tosh-Can I switch from hard drives overall if they are compatible or y at - it an advance to do and how... help!
The only way I know, it's that you buy an external HARD drive enclosure where you can put in the old HDD. Connect the HARD drive old this is the case with the USB cable to your laptop new and then you can copy your documents and photos.
These cases are not expensive and s for external HARD drive are very practical.

transfer files from the old drive hard windows 7 to new computer windows 8
My old laptop windows 7 crashed for an unknown reason, so I bought a new laptop with windows 8. I removed the hard drive from the windows 7 machine and using an external enclosure card connected to the new laptop.
I can see and open any public folders in the folder of the user data, but can not access a user folder. Also when I right click on the folder of the user, it seems that they are empty.
I have tried making the appropriation and unchecking hidden files but still no luck.
Pretty frustrated right now.
I think I solved the problem.
I had to do a right-click on the folder user and copy and paste in a new folder. While he was doing that he clean up some data. Don't know exactly what was going since I wasn't there when it happened.
Once he went through this process, I could see my user files to the new folder and the old hard drive.
Sorry I can't explain it better.

I have a computer running windows vista that I'm planning on upgrading to Windows 7. I will be transferring files and settings from my old computer running windows XP SP3. Can I make the transfer to the new computer before upgrade Vista to Windows 7 or should I first, up grade for Win 7, and then do the transfer? I also asked a previous question about the email, I use Outlook Express on the XP machine. What happens to the emails, settings, and contacts once I use Windows Vista and Win 7 easy transfer to the have Outlook Express? The new computer has Outlook 2003 is installed, all the settings will automatically go to this program?
Make the transfer later. Everything you do is do more work for the upgrade. It takes hours as it is. Please use the forums of office for questions by email. Click Office link in the banner at the top of the forum page.

How to move files from the external hard drive to the keywords WITH main drive?
On a recent trip, I have uploaded thousands of images on an external hard drive that I used with my laptop. I keyworded and edited these files on the road.
Back home, I want to move the files (keywords and all) to my permanent LR library that resides on a different hard drive. How can I do this transfer without losing the keywords?
Thank you in advance.
Hi Jessica,.
There seems to be a confusion of terms here: the catalog is where LR stores all of its information (that your designated as LR library in your original post).
While you were on the road, did you use LR to add keywords to photos, or have you used another tool? If you have used LR, you already have a catalog on the laptop, which you can then import into your main LR catalog (using import to catalogue option in the file menu). Let us know if you get stuck anywhere.

Store.E TV + - copy files from the USB HARD disk
I have Stor.E TV +, and I'm trying to copy the data from my stick of fash of the USB device on my hard drive without using a computer. I can find the files and the destination, but I can't copy them.
Any help?
Hey,.
I put t think you can copy between different mediums using Stor.E TV + without a computer. I checked the user manual and I found the following information on the USB device:
USB device
In this menu, you can browse the external USB device content. Press OK to confirm. If no USB device is connected to the USB port, there is no record of USB device shown. So I think that you can browse on USB stick and view/open files but not copy.
What do you think?

How to transfer files from an old windows XP computer to a new computer windows 7?
Two computers work but when I connect them with an ethernet cable, they recognize each other. I also tried connecting them through my home wireless network, but they have not yet recognized each other.
Hello
To connect two computers with a cable, not a router, it must be a crossover cable.
These are special cables, but they are not expensive.Connect two computers using a crossover cable (XP - Windows 7 may be the same)

How can I transfer files from my old pc sony Vista for my laptop new HP 17-j003
How can I transfer files from my old sony pc running vista for my laptop new HP 17-j003 Windows 8
Welcome to the HP, Roodie forum.
There is an easy way to do it using Microsoft Windows Easy Transfer :
Transfer files and settings from another PC
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you do not want to transfer files using the easy transfer method, you can manually make the copy.
- You can connect the systems on the same network,
- Define the folders that contain your data transfer to 'Share' on the network
- Map the drive on your new Vista computer system network
- Copy the data you want to transfer
On the Vista Machine:
- Open a Windows Explorer window,
- Right click on the folder that contains the data you want to 'share' (transfer)
- Click Properties > share > share and follow the instructions to allow the folder to be shared on the network
On the Machine Windows 8:
- Windows key (opens the start screen) > anywhere type 'computer' >
- Click on "computer" to open the "Computer" File Explorer window >
- Click map network drive and follow the instructions to map the drive
Don't forget: If your account name is different on the Vista computer, you will need to click on "Sign in using different credentials" and then enter the name of the account on the Vista computer AND the password for this account.
You can do this with the upper or lower level folders folder level - as long as the folder is shared, you should have general access to the data it contains.
There are cases where you will not end up being "owner" of the data transferred - you will have to perhaps enter and adjust the property for files / folders after they are copied to the computer of Windows 8.
