  • With Microsoft Vista and McAfee Internet connection issues

Hi I would appreciate any help with this issue.  I'm not a very experienced user.  I'm having all kinds of problems with McAfee Security 9.0.  He stops working and says I have no internet connection and that you can not update. I contacted McAfee and they came on my computer, uninstalled and reinstalled and I'm still having the same problem.  Them, that I came across an article from McAfee dealing with this problem and Windows Vista.  I have the 64 bit version.  The solution is 1. Click on the Windows button and type cmd.

    2. right click on cmd and run as administrator

    3. at the prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

netsh int tcp set global autotunninglevel = off

It then gives you instructions to reactivate the auto-tuning network if this does not resolve the problem.

I would like to know if anyone has tried this and the results, also if this works this deactivation causes me to have other problems with my computer.

This may seem very simple for some people, but because I'm not known I want to create more problems than I have now.  Through this site, I learned how to remove McAfee from my computer, and it would be the last thing I would do if nothing works.

  • x 220 internet connectivity issues

    Hi all

I got my X 220 for over a year and have never had any problems in the past.  For the last few days I had a moment hard internet connection and I really need help.  Thanks in advance for your help.

    Here's what I know:

My X 220 shows that it is connected, but it cannot load any Web pages.  I've reproduced the problem on 2 different wireless networks and wired ethernet connection.

I checked the other 3 devices (phones and netbook) can connect and work very well on all the above-mentioned networks.

I have reset my modem several times.

I did a restore of the system at the beginning of August, and when I do this my internet connection returns, however, painfully slow loading pages.  I think I still have a fast enough connection because when I load google maps it takes time to load the page, but once it does, I can zoom in and out extremely fast cards.   Unfortunately, once I have turn off the machine or he falls asleep, the connection is no longer work once I'm back on.

I ran all programs Microsoft and Lenovo diagnostic/troubleshooting without success.

I turned off all firewalls and security software.

I used Lenovo diagnostic program to test everything (all this happened) and have checked my network drivers are up-to-date.

Finally, it started to arrive a day or two after that, I got a big update Windows.  I don't know how long after the update that I started having problems however.

Does anyone have ideas for helping me restore my network connections?  My warranty is out since last week

    Thanks again,

    Jason

  • Internet connection issues "Limited or no connectivity." and "windows could not find a certificate to log on the network.

I'm so unable to connect to the internet?

    Hello.

I'm so unable to connect to the internet.

Since I've renamed our WiFi network and add a WEP key, I have problems with wireless connection on my
Windows XP computer desktop, which is a Dell Dimension 4700.

The questions that I get connection are...

"windows could not find a certificate to log on the network.

    "Limited or no connectivity."

I did all the solutions I could try to fix the connection problem!

    1. once I received the message "limited or no connectivity", I click with the right button on the connection and click on repair. It is not always connect for me and I got the "limited or no connectivity message.»

    2. then, I disabled the network connection and then enabled. That no longer works.

    3. I tried to withdraw from the ordered list of connections, and it still doesn't work.

    4. I checked the driver manager, and initially the Ethernet driver was outdated and missing of its pilot. He had a yellow question mark with a black sign and yellow with an exclamation mark inside.

    5. I used DriverZone, downloaded the driver, installed and rebooted the computer after the installation of the it. Apparently, it worked. But I could not always connect.

6 I have ensured that I entered the correct WEP key, and then adjust the settings correctly. I did it like 10 times in a row and would not always connect.

    7. I tried to go to the command prompt and typed in IP Config/All and that's what I mean.

    Windows IP configuration
    Node type: unknown
    Active IP routing: no
    WINS proxy enabled: no
ETHERNET connection to the Local network card
State of the media: Media disconnected
Description: Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection
Ethernet card 2 wireless network connection:
    Suffix the connection-specific DNS: (EMPTY)

    8. after that, I typed the command: ipconfig/release
and then I got this error...

No operations can be performed on the connection to the local network, although it has its media disconnected.

    9. after that, I tried Googling for some solutions, and the solutions I found were not any use.
    A solution was

    10. opening of Services...
    Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double-click Client DNS | Set to automatic on startup
    type |
Click apply | Click the Start button | When it starts, click OK
Do the same for the DHCP Client.
Do the same for the remote procedure call (RPC).

    and it still doesn't work.

    11. when I look in the menu network connections, I see my connection with a lock on the side, with a red X under the lock and key. In the description, I see not connected, protected by a firewall. How could I remove the internet connection firewall? I disabled the firewall and that did not work.

    12. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the network card and who does not work either.

It is not the network itself that is the problem.  It is not the modem or the cable. There are no disconnected son or something like that. We have other computers in the House and the internet works fine on other computers. As I said, since I renamed our WiFi network and added a WEP password, I had problems with connecting to my Windows XP computer.

My computer has updates that must be installed as well. Updates would fix the problem? I just need to have internet.

What should I do? Thank you for your time.

    Sincerely,

    Justin

Have you tried to set the value of the link speed/duplex mode? I had the same problem you describe. Your card is only capable of 10/100 communication.

  • Windows 7 Internet connection issues

I have a Dell desktop for 2 years and has worked well before.

Recently, the hard drive was broken down and Dell has replaced a new hard drive for me. When the hard drive is replaced, the Windows 7 (64-bit professional) was necessary to re - install. Subsequently, there is a problem for internet connection.

When I connect the computer to the internet through a router or directly to the port, it works very well for the first 10 to 15 minutes. Then it stops. If I click on refresh in the browser, I need to wait for a few minutes until connectivity active again, but it lasts for only 1 to 2 minutes and stops again. And I need to wait a few minutes... and so on.

If I connect to the internet through the router, when this problem occurs, it will affect other computers (Windows XP and Vista), no matter via LAN or wireless. Zero the computer can connect to the internet. And when the Dell computer is able to connect to the internet at this "1-2 minutes', the other computers can connect as well, also as"1 to 2 minutes"

If I turned off the Dell computer or unplug the cable from the Dell computer, other computers are working perfect.

I thought it might be the card network problem, so I tried the Ethernet USB adapter instead. However, the same problem persists. So, I guess it could be due to Windows 7.

I am sure that this is not a problem of my ISP, not the router, not on the cable and should not be the network card (unless the connection via USB Ethernet Adapter still needs to go through the network card)...

Anyone know how to fix this? Please teach me in detail, thank you.

    Thank you for all.

    I discovered the problem already.

I have installed KM Player as my Media Player, and it includes a program called "PA... TV"(I forgot the name and surname). This software does all the problem I mentioned above.

After that I uninstalled the AP «...» TV', the problem does not exist until this moment, do not know the future...

P.S. I still don't know why the AP «...» TV"blocked the connection regularly. I also installed it on my computer at home, but using Windows XP. He has no problem at all. Don't know why it has problem in Windows 7

Now please read the question below.

    Issues related to the:

Q1. Which computer should I connect main internet connection (computer on which will better host win7 or Win XP)?

Q2. What equipment I mean as a router, hub, NIC etc.? Please specify if these materials will be required for two PCs or for one.

Q3. What type of Internet connection sharing will be better to be wired or wireless (cost, speed and security wise)?

Q4. I need two IP address both part of connection to the internet between two PCs?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Zeff,

You can make Windows 7 the main computer for internet connection and then host the Windows XP computer.

For more information, see the article:

Start here to set up a home network in Windows 7

Networking of computers running different versions of Windows

With respect to the equipment as a router, hub, NIC depend on the connection (wired or wireless) you want to use. You can also check with the ISP (Internet Service Provider) for more information.

For more information, see the articles:

What do I need to connect to the Internet?

    Setting up a network home

Wired and wireless connections have great benefits, but they have also some disadvantages.

    Wired connection:

    > Faster and more robust than wireless connections but not so flexible when positioning of computers and devices because you must be connected to your Super Hub with an Ethernet cable.

    > Safer than wireless connections, but not so convenient for users of laptops and other mobile devices.

    WiFi connection:

    > Wireless! If you can connect when you want. However performance may be affected by walls, electric interference etc.

    > Ideal for users of laptops and other mobile devices, you can connect devices more but slower than wired connections

    > Very safe when used with higher level (WPA) encryption. You can connect your smart phone to your network wirelessly for faster browsing.

However, unauthorized users could try to use your connection (which explains why security is so important).

There are two types of IP addresses. external and internal. Both computers have the same external IP address but separate internal IP addresses. Each device in your network will have its own (internal) IP address. The external IP address, who sees the Internet is actually assigned to your router.

Hope the helps of information. Let us know if you need help with Windows related issues. We will be happy to help you.

  • Satellite C660-258 - Internet connection issues

Recently, my laptop started to suffer serious problems when you try to connect to the internet.
My download and upload slow to a crawl (only for laptop)

Usually (according to speedtest.net) I get around a download about 4 but on my laptop it reaches maximum 0.09 dl.

Whenever I restart my laptop it works kind of during about 10 minutes (I get about a 1 download), but then it slows down to a crawl.

I confess that I am not the most tech savvy people so I only did the basics (turn it on and try again, other connections, reset the router, connect through a cable) but none of this has worked.

Any help you could provide would be most welcome.

    Hello

To be honest I don t understand your problem you have a problem with the internet connection is slow?

Usually, this is not a problem or computer in the system but the problem with the connection provided by the internet provider (ISP).

However, you compared the speed using LAN and WLan?
Did you check the internet connection by using other WLan hotspots or other WiFi network?

    Do this!

  • Re: 1670 - back to 98SE - Satellite Internet connection issues

I used W2K on my 1670 for quite awhile, but it was slowish, so I decided to put in the recovery disks and return 98SE.

As the laptop is quite old and has no ethernet as the material, I also installed a PC Ethernet Card Bus line and this has been properly installed in Device Manager.

Have upgraded to IE6, been through the Internet Connection Wizard, settings of the LAN, server proxy automatic etc... However, the IP address is always zero. I can't fix the ethernet connection and there are options to adjust the dial upwards, but as I do not use that may be unnecessary.

Is there a problem here? I have not had any problems with my Portege 4000 which had ethernet installed as part of his equipment.

    > Is there a problem here?
You're joking now? ;) What is a question after 9 years.

You use laptop at home connected to the DSL router?
    A firewall is turned on?
You can assign the IP address manually?

  • How long an internet connection to broadband with a speed of 512 Kbps (DSL) should last to download 138 MB?

    Hello

I have an internet connection broadband with a speed of 512 Kbps.
    So, I think it means:
    512 KB * 60 seconds (1 minute) = 30720 KB per minute.
    Thus, 30720 KB/1024 = 30 MB
    30 MB per minute
However, I noticed that the 140 MB in the screenshot below took about an hour until they were completed. It was supposed to take four minutes and a half approximately.
In addition, there is no other applications running while these downloads above are downloaded

The storage units in the case of networking is different. Please note the difference between KB and KB. The 'b' indicates bits (8 bits is a byte) and 'B' indicates bytes. In the case of networking, data are sent in form of packages, divided into eight parts, bits is used.

Therefore, 512 Kbps will achieve a maximum data transfer speed of 512/8 = 64 Kbps. 64 * 60 = 3840 KB per minute which is 3.75 MB per minute. On average, it'll take 45-50 minutes to download a 140 MB file. But we cannot wait for the speed of the network to be stable to always, it varies. So it may take more than an hour also.
