How to uninstall windows live messenger

How to uninstall windows live messenger?

Hi ryankay21

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Answers.

What Version of Windows are you using?

It is not available to 'uninstall' from the control panel - uninstall a program?
It may be listed under Windows Live Essentials.

Please post back and let us know if it helped to solve your problem.

  • How to uninstall Windows Live Messenger in Windows 7

I need to uninstall Messenger. When I installed MSN and clicking 'custom installation' I hope I have the opportunity to choose, but they DO you have messenger. WHY?

I disabled the 'sign' page in and in 'options', but again, the window opens and connect automatically when I log in MSN.  This is a nusance, why they just assume you want to converse. I never do.

Help, please. From what I can tell from these forums (I've not seen one for Windows 7), it must be hard to do, and the first thing usually does not work. Could you please be patient with me to help me get rid of this?

    Thank you very much.

PS RE: uninstall Windows Live Messenger
I'm using Vista, but I do not think the court proceedings is any different.

Go to programs and features > do you think Windows live Messenger or Windows Live Essentials from the list?

If you see the Windows Live Essentials > right click > click on uninstall > watch the screen, it will ask you which program you want to uninstall > select Windows Live messenger. For the benefits of others looking for answers, please mark as answer suggestion if it solves your problem.

Look for Windows Live Essentials in the control panel in (add/remove or uninstall a program). Check to delete WLEssentials and at that time will give you the opportunity to choose what WHAT programs you want to remove.

This may sound strange, but you need to do is to reinstall Windows live

How to uninstall Windows Live Mesh Remote desktop.  I can't uninstall it & it continues to send an error message?

    Hello

    What is the error message?

If you have enabled Live Mesh Remote Desktop, you must be running Windows Vista as an administrator (a type of user account that allows full access to the computer,
including the ability to install programs and manage other user accounts.) to uninstall the Live Mesh software.

  • Can't install or uninstall Windows Live Messenger.

Failed to install the new Windows Live Messenger. The error "could access the network location:. ' with the error number 0 x 80070643. Make the same mistake when you try to uninstall the current version of the same program.

This problem has haunted me for a long time! But finally I found the solution... It's a problem with Windows Installer. Download Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and deleted all the entries of 'Windows Live '. After that, reinstalled WLM.

    Hello godsdragon,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

It shows that you have a corruption in your file system.
    Run the System File Checker:

    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any violation of the integrity and repair any damaged operating system files.

    Restart your system

Then try again and download and install Windows Installer Cleanup Tool. Click here to download the utility.
You can use the utility to remove installation information for programs that were installed by using Windows Installer. Remember that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility does not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall on.

If this does not work uninstall, reinstall the program and then try to uninstall again. Usually, this will help to eliminate all aspects of the programs.

    I hope this helps.

  • Now that Hotmail is part of Microsoft Outlook and Outlook is with Skype, it's ok to uninstall Windows Live Messenger?

Each time, starting with Windows Live Messenger 'opens' but is more to accept my login information because Hotmail joined Outlook and Outlook is connected with Skype... so Windows Live Messenger seems to be a redundant nuisance (and Microsoft to my knowledge has not offered advice on this when they said Hotmail users we would be part of Outlook... etc)... so it seems reasonable to simply uninstall... but is it?

    Hello Brygge,

If you run both Windows Messenger and Skype you should have a notification to upgrade your copy of Windows Messenger to the latest version of Skype. I know that I have received an and after upgrade Windows Messenger disappeared.

If you don't have the notification, then you should be able to remove messenger through Control Panel > programs and features. In programs and features, look for Windows Essentials 2012. You will find the option to remove Messenger once you clicked Windows Essential 2012 and started the removal process. If you want other applications of Windows Essentials 2012 such as Movie Maker, etc. leave these options checked. Just remove the Windows Messenger tick mark and then proceed with the uninstall.

Uninstall and not any other Windows Live application that you don't want.

Tip: any time you use an all-in-one installer as Windows Live Essentials, do not forget to uncheck the options/applications prechecked you do not want to install.
