How to uninstall windows vista or reformat the c drive
How to uninstall windows vista or reformat the c drive?
You do not uninstall Vista as such.
Vista cannot uninstall itself by Vista, formatting the drive that is installed on. In other words it cannot remove itself.
You install another operating system, removal of Vista during the installation process of the other operating system...
You don't say exactly what you are trying to do.
You can format a disk if it a second drive with the Dual Boot operating systems and leaves without data or the operating system on it at all.

I do not like vista and want to install windows xp on my computer. How to uninstall vista?
There is no need to uninstall Windows Vista. Just install Windows XP and Vista will be overwritten. For more details on installing XP from scratch, see this link from my Web site: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org/how_do_i_install_windows_xp.htm
If your PC is preloaded with Vista make sure that XP drivers are available for your machine before trying to install Windows XP. You can find out if XP drivers are available for your hardware of visiiting the your PC manufacturer's Web site.

I have a LaCie 750 GB hard drive external (total size 698 GB) who I've been saving my drive C and D to a Dell XPS 410 using Vista Home Premium software. He contended until the end with a backup automated on-demand for once a week. He performed the backup 30 times since 11/09/09, but sometimes did so sometimes (shorter range) other than the weekly on-demand. When I compare the total size with the free space on the external drive and my drives C and D, the amount of used space is respectively 131 GB, 5,11 GB and GB 665,5. I am not very computer savvy, but if the backup program backs up only what of new each time, why used on my external drive space is so superior to what is still on my C and D drive? I assumed that the backup software would just copy the previous backup, each time that a new backup or write on the oldest backup, but apparently is not. So now all I get are messages saying that the backup was not successful because a file was in use or something to that effect. I'm doing something wrong or do I have to reformat the hard drive external when it is "full" to start the backup of my computer again?HelloYour assumption is correct. Cross check if a new backup is created and saved in the external hard drive. If a new backup is not too write the old backup, the use of the space will be very high. Two particularly useful automatic backup features are the ability to do a scheduled backup and the ability to save your files.
We recommend that you cross check if backup settings are intact. To do this, try the following steps.
1. open backup and restore by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking the backup and restore.
2. click on change settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. For more information on "back up and restore: frequently asked questions" visit this link:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/back-up-and-restore-frequently-asked-questionsYou get the error message, unplug the external drive and restart the computer. Connect the hard drive and check if you get the error message.I hope this helps.Kind regards

After I reformatted my laptop hard drive and reinstalled windows 7, using the same product key that I used to activate my laptop when I saw, but couldn't activate it. The answer I get is that he doesn't seem to be a valid product key. So, is there a way to reacitivate Windows 7?
Have you tried to restart by phone?
How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)
1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4
(2) press the ENTER"" key.
(3) select your "country" in the list.
(4) choose the option "activate phone".
(5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.
(6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

I took the hard drive... put in a new one... and now it says I can't install vista.
I have the version upgrade.
I put XP on this drive and upgrade again. Y at - it something I can do.
I want to just reinstall windows vista on a new drive. How can I accomplish this.
The bad hard drive still works and is accessible it is not stable and keeps locking up.
The full version of XP that I have is out of licenses. Help Help
You must install first Windows XP and upgrade to Windows Vista.
If you have a genuine copy of Windows XP, after you install Windows XP you can contact support for Microsoft's Activation to activate the copy of Windows XP.

You have created the Toshiba Recovery disk? Perfect!
After Exchange of HARD drive, you need this you to install Windows 7 disc. The Toshiba Recovery disk contains an image of the factory settings, which means that you will have the factory settings on the new HARD drive after the use of the disc. You must boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen.
> How to access password protected data after relocation?
It would be interesting to know what data you mean exactly.
Before you reinstall Windows, you must back up all data on a disk for example external HARD.
recently bought a laptop Toshiba M115 comes with 80 GB ' SATA drive and XP MEDIA CENTER 2002
(1) how do I partition without reformatting the drive.
(2) even if the laptop came with a pre-installed xp. I was wondering what happens if I want to reinstall xp media center, if and when required. Y at - it a disc that I can order (I have the license)... What options of backup kindo f are at - it?
first time with toshiba... so am new at the mercy of the workings...
1.), I use the Partitions Magic 8 to create partitions on the HARD drive.
This application is very nice and I love it all simply ;)
You can change the size of the partitions, status and you can fully manage the partitions on the HARD disk. And the best thing is you do not need to format anything B-)
2.) well, the computer Toshiba laptop are delivered also with the recovery CD. I think that all manufacturers of laptops offers this CD of restoration with own products.
In any case, on this CD, you'll find Tosh preinstalled operating system drivers.
If you want to install other OS (XP MCE) you can do it, but you should check if there are drivers that are needed for this OS. But I have XP drivers should also work with thin MCE.
There is a HP machine purchased with preinstalled windows vista home premium and now I want to format the computer so that I can load a license OEM windows 7 on it. I just want to know after the formatting and the license of windows 7 OEM loading if my system will work and also if the windows are enabled.
Please, your urgent response is needed here.
You don't say where you got the OEM Windows 7 license of.
If you got it from another computer, the answer is no.
If you bought from Microsoft, you can.
Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.
If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.
Run the "Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.
Check if your specifications are compatible for Windows 7:
"Windows 7 system requirements"
"Windows 7 Compatibility Center" for software and hardware:

I'm unable to activate windows after having my hard drive replaced. The portable station to my Windows Vista Home installed school, when my computer was originally Windows Vista Business. When I try to use Windows Activation, all options tells me that my product key is not valid for Windows Vista Home Edition. However, the steps to find a phone number to call for the activation require me to enter a product key, and then find the phone number from there. Because I can not clear the checkpoint, I can activate Windows or find a phone number to call. My computer has been purchased through my school, so I don't have a Windows Vista Business install disc, it automatically installs through the recovery disks. I could back up everything and then use the recovery disks, but I was wondering if there was another way to use the product key, I have, or to communicate with Windows. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
the product key you have is for Vista Business, not the House
without a product key for home which must be provided by your school or purchased by you (no longer sold) will not be activated
as you bought the computer and operating through your school system, these are the people to talk about this
and if they provided you with recovery disks when you bought originally, they are used to boot from to reinstall the original operating system
Windows Update will restart when the changes are applied. I understand why. However, when I do not use windows, which is relatively rare, and the specific task, I often run long processes. Windows will reboot the machine by force regardless of what I'm doing at the time. I guess if you are electronic control or Watch youtube, its not that big of a deal, but when it stops at Midway for a night process, its quite frustrating.
I had turned off the windows update service, so I guess that takes care of things, or is there another process that verifies that the windows update is running and restarts it? Thoughts? Even if restarting is intentional, the fact that a modern operating system will turn off when it receives a message from the mother ship is quite disturbing (beat tone comes from the fact that I'm a nerd of linux. Sorry).
Check in scheduled tasks and also like antivirus programs that can update themselves
and sometimes require a restart.
Learn how to create a scheduled task leads to the understanding of those that have been created.
How create a task in Vista Task Scheduler (apply as well to Win 7)
If something stops Windows:
MyEventViewer - free - a simple alternative in the standard Windows Event Viewer.
TIP - Options - Advanced filter allows you to see a period of time instead of the entire file.
I hope this helps.

install on HD replacement
HD crashed. Bought the new HD 2 t. installed Vista with system recovery disks. Operating system will not work. What should I do?
Unfortnunately - since it is a process of recovery provided OEM - only help you can really get is OEM themselves.
Windows XP can have trouble with the size of the player (depending on the installation media level of service pack that you use) or controller drivers.
Are you sure it was your hard drive crashed and nothing else has been damaged? Could be a bad controller, bad memory even a poor diet.
How to uninstall Windows Vista operating system to a new emachine EL1300G. I want to reinstall an XP operating system. These computers were sold once with the XP operating system and drivers are available.
I tried to reboot it with the XP cd, but the message I get is that this program is blocked due to compatibility issues. Implementation cannot continue because the version of windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD.

How to uninstall windows vista if it is not authentic
You do not uninstall as such.
You would normally buy a legitimate operating system disk / license and do a clean install with it, by removing the non-genuine Vista during the installation process.
Or you can download this program (Darik Boot and Nuke) > make a Bootable Disk with him > Boot and wipe the hard drive of everything:
You can buy a legitimate operating system if you want to continue to use this computer.

To activate the built-in Windows 7 games:
1. click on Start (lower-left) and then on Control Panel.
2. click on programs and features.
3. on the left side of the screen, click on 'Windows turn features on or off".
4. find the entry called games & check the box next to it.
5. click on OK.
If the games box is already checked, uncheck the box , click OK, restart, then do steps 1-6 above.
