Thank you for the update. You cannot directly install service pack 3 (SP3). You must install the service pack 1 or 2 before you install SP3.

Windows XP genuine advantage is provided for the computer you bought in 2002, you can not go to install on another computer.

If you need run Windows XP, I suggest that you upgrade to Windows 7 Professional, and then download and install free Windows Virtual PC with Windows XP mode.

Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click the option to purchase a key. Wait while loading of the Express Upgrade page, click on the Windows 7 Professional Upgrade to buy it.

Click Next, fill in your details (it is important that you do this because the product key will be sent to you as a backup in case you need to reinstall) enter your credit card information, click next to begin the upgrade, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement , click upgrade, wait while the software updates, (it may take 10 minutes or more, depending on the case, updates are required), your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify its update of the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a windows will pop up by notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional, your files, programs and settings stored, proceed to activate Windows 7 Professional.

  • How to upgrade windows XP Pack 3

Kindly let me know how to do the update of Windows.  When I click on all programs and click again on "Windows Update", nothing happens.  Please guide me to run the update of Windows (XP).

You don't know if you try to update to SP3 or have SP3 and want to update from there.

Windows Update no longer works unless you have at least XP Service Pack 3.

Right-click on 'My Computer' and then select 'Properties' to determine your level of service current pack.  If you are in SP1A or SP2, you can go directly to SP3.  If you do not have the service pack or have SP1, then you must install SP2 and SP3.  You can download a stand-alone Setup for SP2 and SP3 on the following links.  Ignore the verbage on 'professionals only '.  I you hereby dub a professional...

  • How to get windows xp re - install for installing the flash drive to the computer error portable "windows\system32\config\system".

My Acer Aspire One has error "windows\system32\config\system" How can I get a copy of windows xp original usb? When I bought the

computer laptop windows xp made & paid for. Product key is on the back. Can I download & reinstall using a flash drive?

C:\Windows\system32\config\system is one of the files that make up the system registry.  Backups of the system registry files are kept in the 'C:\System Volume Information' folder under the system restore program.  Probably all you need to do is copy of registry backups in the Windows\system32\config folder.  A reinstall of windows may not be necessary.

To do this is to start your machine from a free "Live Linux" thumb drive.  You can create a startup disk Ubuntu here:

Follow the instructions of "Try me" and you should be able to copy backups of registry in place.  Windows has "Hidden doubling" the System Volume Information folder, but Linux doesn't seem to have any problems with it.  After starting from the Thumb Drive Linux, follow the instructions in the following article from part 2, step 6, using the graphical interface of Linux to copy files (right click copy, make a right click Paste) instead of the lines of command in the article.  With a little patience, you can restore the registry from a backup, and be back in operation

  • How to upgrade Windows 7 Professional N of Windows 8 Pro N?

The upgrade is possible with the migrated applications?

    From: Windows 7 Professional N amd64

    To: Windows 8 Pro N amd64

In a real essay, doesn't offer the upgrade keep applications. Why? I tried the same thing with the N editions is not regular, and he offered to keep the applications as part of the upgrade.

I was going to say some people, including myself, 'You can buy Windows 7 Professional N and later upgrade to Windows 8 Professional N without having to reinstall', but so far appears not to be true.

Well, regular use no N edition.

"N of Windows 8 editions do not include media technologies such as Windows Media Player or a camera. To play or create audio CDs, media files digital and video DVD; organize content in a media library; create playlists; convert audio CDs into digital files; See artist and title of the digital media information; View album art of music files; transfer music to personal music players; or record and playback TV broadcasts after that Windows 8 is installed, you will need to install a media player and other software from Microsoft or another company. "

    Editions N - Windows 8:

If this is not really a big problem to use a no N edition.

  • How to upgrade Windows xp to SP2

computer remained in storage. How upgrading to sp2

If WinXP SP2 is not installed, you cannot have a functional application of the antivirus installed & the computer must NOT be connected to the internet!

Personal data backup (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then format the HARD disk and do a clean install of Windows.  Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) won't fix this!

HOW to do a clean install of Windows XP: see method 1 and http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html#steps in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/978307

NOTE: If your computer came with a set of disks, there is a hidden partition restore (not to be confused with the restoration of the system) you would use to do the clean install (AKA a "destructive recovery").

After the new installation, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of EVERYTHING on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) AND BEFORE to plug in a flash, SD card, or any other external drive to the computer otherwise:

Tip: After completing the computer fully patched, download/install KB971029 manually before connecting any player external to the computer: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971029

VERY IMPORTANT! =>  No matter what Norton or McAfee free trial which is preinstalled on the computer when you bought will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free AND download/run the removal tool appropriate prior to installing the updates, Windows Service Packs or IE upgrades AND BEFORE installing your new anti-virus application (which will require WinXP SP3 must be installed).

If you need additional assistance with the clean install, please start a new thread in this forum: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/xprepair/threads

If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, good reputation and stand-alone computer (that is, not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) repair facility.

  • How to upgrade to VISTA already installed after 5 years of use XP Pro

I bought a Dell Vostro 200 in 2008, using XP Pro as operating system.   Apparently, Vista Business 32-bit SP1 is already installed on this PC - I have a DVD of resettlement for this.

How can I move from XP to Vista?    I have no idea as to where he is or how to access Vista.   Problems to watch?

Many kind thanks to the Dell Community for your help.

You can install Windows Vista 32 bit, an upgrade, however I do not recommend to do as far as the performance is usually a bit more severe if 'upgraded' through 'upgrade '.

  • Upgrade Windows 10 not install Via Windows Update

I'm going through my history of editing to make sure that I have everything installed (of whats required) to upgrade to Windows 10 seamlessly without any problem. However, the file to upgrade current (Windows 7 Ultimate) to Windows Pro 10 is not installed, it comes as a download upgrade FAILED. Error code: 80240020

I don't know if there is something interfering with the update but I desperately want the free update and it's just not let me update. I tried to restart, reinstall updates that appeared as failed (even those earlier) and even update all my drivers who have no influence on the operating system.

When you book, you can confirm that your device is compatible with Windows 10. Between booking and when your upgrade is ready, the files you need for the upgrade will be downloaded to your PC to make the installation go faster. Then, when your upgrade is ready after July 29, 2015, you receive a notification that allows you to start using your upgrade.

    Hello

I have a Macbook 2016 m5 and have installed 8.1 window using the bootcamp assistant. I want to now upgrade to Windows 10 and run the Microsoft Windows 10 Upgrade Advisor tool.
