How to use the second HARD drive of Satellite A210 - BP1 for mirroring
Satellite A210-BP1 came with 2 HDD (160 GB).
Now, I want to use the second hard drive mirrored the first, one that has Vista installed.
This should be done without supervision and in real time - as a RAID 1.
How can I do this?
I also have Vista professional available and I would be willing to use 3rd party software as well.
Thanks in advance for your answers.
I doubt that this is possible
Why? The point is that you need to use two hard drives in mirroring, RAID striping, mode etc technology
Satellite A210 can't RAID. It s only a SATA controller without RAID capacity!
Therefore, the final answer is; NO, it is not possible to use mirroring
I got a second hand Satellite A300 which was to be thrown out due to a defective DVD.
I fixed the DVD and have a perfect system.
On opening the box, I discovered that there 2 x 250 GB hard drives. I checked CMOS and show the 2 drives. However, Vista displays only the a drive.
Excuse my ignorance, but how do I access to the second drive?
I have Satellite A300 with two hard drives and each HARD drive has another operating system. Both hard drives are recognized correctly.
I put t know what the problem is here, but the two hard disks should be recognized automatically.
Try to set the BIOS to default settings and check again.
Try to start the check and install Microsoft bootable disk if the two hard disks are displayed in Setup.
I just hope that there is not a hardware problem.
I have recently bought a satellite P70 - A - 10 d.
I see that there is no second location on hard disk, so I can install a second disk.
You can see the second slot in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uW75IsuFeoY.
But I can't understand how screed the disc.
Do I need additional items for it or he'll be safe just plug the drive and leave it without screws?
If the second HARD drive bay contains the HARD drive connector, you can connect the HARD drive using the 2.5 HARD disk as [this | http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/images/TOS-X505%20sm.jpg] a
I see my new Satellite A200-1 of body weight has two hard drive bays, the research in the second span, I don't see how a second drive can be mounted as the plug into the Jack seems to be missing.
What parts do I have to mount to place a second drive that they are held in stock by out of the local computer and are quite cheap, can someone advise me on part numbers etc of the bits I need.
I know that this empty place for second HARD drive is a bit confusing, but the same situation is with my A200-1CR. The fact is that some A200 models come with 2 hard drives and laptop case design this place must be prepared for this second HDD.
But this does not mean that each A200 can be improved for the second HARD drive.
Hi, I am a newbie in all of this. I would use the 2nd internal hard drive of our mac mini server (end 2012) for storage (in fact, I'll things rsync from a remote server to here. but this is not the point here.). The thing is, I don't know how to access the 2nd internal hard drive and where to start. I did all of the following commands in the Terminal, but I don't really know what they mean, and what can I do with this information. I've been Googling but most are guides on how to install a 2nd hard drive etc. I hope that the information below is enough for someone to give me advice please?
That shows disk utility?
I'm a french owner of an A350-122 (serial no: 39169719K)
In the french of the manual user, page 1-5, it is written that it is possible to insert another disc hard, and on page 2-6, the rear of the A350-122 view shows a second branch on the left for a second hard drive.
So, I bought an SSD Intel X 25-M to put in the second location. I opened the second location and there is nothing: no sata, no power connector connector, only a location empty.
So, what's the problem with this Satellite A350-122?
Thank you for your response.
I agree with the user above. Not all Satellite A350 models support a second HDD. The point is that laptops are country specific products and this feature is not available everywhere. In addition, all models A350 by using the same notebook case in order to have a crack but no connector.
In any case, you can use t a second HDD. :(
I would really appreciate help with this issue, as I've already lost my data on my drive main HARD more then 4 times!
As mentioned, I have an Elitebook8770W and I can't install two internal hard drives on this laptop. I had this idea of having windows
installed on two hard drives. So if I have a problem with one of the Windows I start with the other disk by choosing
BIOS during startup and be able to repair or do a restore with Acronis.
My laptop comes with a cache flash 24gig M-sata device that accelerates the disc 1. Obviously to do this my records
are defined as raid in bios. But the most frustrating is that sometimes when I choose to start with the second drive after windows
load I do not see more the first hard drive in windows and if so I try to start, my first disk, the disk is not bootable and
most of the time MBR corrupted and the disc is in RAW format.
I just want to know what is the problem? What am I do wrong and how to prevent this from happening again power
Start with two hard drives that I need to have windows separately different config and software for different jobs.

My new Dell XPS 8900 only has a single HH and I would install a second HH. Probably 3.5 SATA internal a 2 T. I need a repair of XPS 8900 so that I know how to install the second disk. I just need a few simple instructions so that I know how attached a data cable SATA and do the go by car. Direction will be appreciated.
You will need the drive AND a data cable. The manual is here:
Original title: How to I can't remove my 1st hard drive program files?
Basically, I got a new laptop for games with Windows 7 on it, and I know almost nothing about computers. So it all starts on my SSD (180 GB) and I want to move to my 2nd hard drive (750 GB) HHD. I want to keep windows and steam (platform game) on my SSD and move almost everything on my other hard drive. When I move everything on it works, but when I try and do a right-click and delete the programs or program filex (x 86) it says I don't have permission. So I give myself permission and ownership of the program files, but it does not work. I tried to remove anything that did not come on the computer and what I just said try again, but it still does not work. I have tried myself giving full ownership of readers, but it still does not work. He always tells me that I need permission from myself. Is any way for me to have my computer recognizes the HHD as the primary drive, and then I can move Windows and Steam my SSD? And all that would remove? (If yes let me know if I can put the drivers I have on a flash, so they are removed). Any help or advice would be great! Thanks for reading and you're time and effort!)P. S.Do not forget that I know little to nothing about computers, so just assume I know nothing and give me instructions step by step, if it is possible.May peace be with you,Alex
Basically, you can not, you need to uninstall the programs, then custom Setup to the location/reader of your choice, even in this case a lot of files will always be located on your windows disk.
When you install a program many entries are written to the registry, if you try to move a program, if you can, the registry entries will be incorrect then the program will stop working.
My Mac Pro has two, the hard drives of 1 TB. I had originally planned on the use of the second hard drive for Time Machine. However, instead of using Time Machine, I now save by cloning my first hard drive to an external hard drive using Carbon Copy Cloner. I did not use Time Machine in a year and do not expect that I have to use more.
My first hard drive fills up-I have about 150 GB unused on it, and with video editing I'm is squeezed. What is the best way to configure my system so that I can use my second, now sleeping, hard drive? Is it possible of them gang up together so that my system will behave as if there is a 2 TB HDD?
Thanks in advance.
Yes. It is called RAID.

I have a P70 - A. Satellite Pro
'Primary' hard disk failed, and has been replaced by the service centre.
Now, only the main hard drive is shown and the Service Center said that I had to 'initialize' the second hard drive to make it visible. They assure me that the hard drive is there, just hidden.
How can I make visible?
How do I initialize it?
Usually, you can initialize the disk by DiskManagement.
In disk management, right-click the disk you want to initialize and then click on initialize disk.
In the dialog box initialize the disk, select the disk to initialize.
You can choose to use the master boot record (MBR) or the style of partition GUID partition table (GPT).
Once a disk is initialized, you can create partitions on it.
After you create a partition, you can format the partition to create a filesystem (NTFS).
I have a Pavilion m9250f equipped of Windows Vista 64-bit with two 500 GB hard drives. The first hard disk is almost at capacity (available 15%), and I want to know how to set up the second disc for use.
The SATA controller mode setting is in the bios. F10 will get you into the bios. Back up your data before attempting to make any changes. If you use the RAID mode then then you will need to enter the Intel RAID CTRL + I utility at startup to disable the parring. RAID 1 is extra protection in case you have a hard drive failure. If you disable the RAID 1 parring so be sure to perform backups at a frequency you can live if you experience a hard drive failure. When the RAID 1 parring is disabled, then the second hard drive will be available for data storage (more than 500GB). If get you there, then you can do a quick format on the second hard drive. Now you should be able to move the folders you want to the second hard drive.
Hi hope you can help with this.
I have Windows 7 and Windows Media Player 12 on my PC.
My office has two hard drives, one for the operating system and all programs and another larger (drive J:\) for all my files.
All my audio files are stored in the J:\Audio folder, and this folder is also the default location for my music library (such as configured in Windows and WMP).
When I load WMP files in J:\Audio are not displayed in the music library.
If I right click on music > manage a music library and then manually delete the J:\ from the list of library locations, and then re-add it, WMP adds all the files to the library (a process that takes about 20 minutes).
BUT if I close WMP and re - open again, these files are missing once again.
It seems that WMP has a blind spot of my second hard drive.
Any suggestions for what I can do to remedy this?
Thank you very much!
Well, I think I found a solution for me at least.
There is an answer on this thread who has contributed to:
This is the fifth detention by djkel.
This is a summary:
To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:
1. exit Windows Media Player.
2. click on start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.
3. Select all the files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.
Note you don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.
4. restart Windows Media Player.
One of the files that I had to delete not able to be removed first because "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service" was used. I was able to follow the steps on this page to temporarily stop the service and allow the file to be deleted:
Then when I have opened WMP 12 database has been repopulated with my files... and all files remain when the 12 WPM has been closed and then reopened. I hope it's a permanent fix.
Not sure if this will help your problem, Jeff, but I hope that.
I just uploaded 2 new video from Youtube on the L50 - A. Satellite Pro
The first is a tear down showing how to replace the memory, hard drive and battery (you can also clean the fan if it detects overheating).
BTW why they made it so difficult to get just to the battery in this model?
WARNING - proceed at your own risk and don't forget static precautions!
Hope they help and if you have any questions let me know.

Thanks for these videos. It may be useful to replace the memory, but I think that the owners of the laptop should not open the case. This may void the warranty.
Be careful about this.
Toshiba Satellite A200-1 s 5 is eligible to add a second hard drive? It has RAID controller as much I know - it might help?
If you have a SATA connector in the second HARD drive Bay, you can use a second HDD. Check it!
Then you can buy each disc HARD what you want with SATA port.
The Satellite A200 doesn't have a RAID controller.
