How will I know when I'm on a secure website? I don't see any icon lock like IE uses.

I use Internet Explorer for years, but became dissatisfied with (e) recently and moved on to Firefox. They had a lock on the tabs icon to let you know that you were on a secure site. How can I know with your browser if a site is secure?
