HP 110-000z: DVI - D HDMI Cable for sound

I connect my DVI - D to HDMI Cable from my pc to my TV (LG). My pc has sound, but there is no sound on the TV. Could someone tell me what the problem is.

Hello @lellery,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you have a problem with the sound and wanted to help you!

Unfortunately, DVI - D ports do not carry video, not audio signals.  To make it work, you would need some type of DVI - D to HDMI, that had to carry the audio signals.  I hope this helps.

Please let me know if this information helps you solve the problem by marking this message as 'accept as Solution' , this will help others easily find the information they seek.  In addition, by clicking on the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thank you!

Have a great day!

    Hi Bill,

Thanks for asking this question to Microsoft Community.

I will definitely help you to set up the projector, but before starting, I would ask you some troubleshooting questions.

What version of the Windows operating system is installed on the computer? Do you get any error messages? Have you done a recent software or changes to the material on the computer?

  • Windows 7 Home Premium does not start and an external monitor connected via DVI to HDMI Cable

I have a Dell Inspiron 531 desktop computer with a NVIDEA GeForce 8400 GS video card.  This video card has the following outputs: DVI, VGA and S-video.  When I connect it to my computer via the VGA port to PC to my Sony Bravia KDL-40XBR4 monitor port, the machine starts perfectly.  If I connect via a HDMI cable to one of the HDMI monitor DVI ports, the screen displays the video BIOS, but turns black when the operating system begins to load.  If I connect another monitor to the VGA port, yet once the machine boots fine, but if I connect the monitor to the computer and the Sony Bravia, once again the machine does not start.  The strange thing is that if I boot with only the connected computer screen and then plug the DVI to HDMI cable, then Windows 7 sees the Sony Bravia monitor very well, and I can extend the desktop.  If the machine mode 'sleep', both monitors work very well to wake up the PC.  So, if the Sony Bravia is connected alone or with the computer screen, the machine does not start (the screen will display 'go black' when the OS starts to load.)  I tried to run Windows in Mode safe, but he won't either.  I have all the updates of Windows applied and have installed the latest drivers from nVidea so.

    Hey Chris,

First of all, about climbing, is not a technical support; This is a community forum where MS moderator and contributors are involved.  Now to your question ~

It's very strange that the PC does not start when this unit is connected, but works fine when connected after the fact.  I've seen several cases where a hardware configuration of uinsusal will prevent a PC to boot.  I think that the culprit may be DVI to HDMI Cable that you are using.  If I were you, I try to connect the PC to a DVI monitor and see if it boots normally.  Also, see if the monitor can prevent another PC to start when it is connected directly via the HDMI.

Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

  • HP Pavilion p6740f - DVI to HDMI Cable Receiver for projector?

    Hi all:

I have a HP Pavilion p6740f tower base.  Tonight, I'm moving it the office upstairs in the press downstairs room.  The press room is set up with all the components, xbox360, bluray, dvr, etc. on the front of the room and the projector mounted on the ceiling, at the back of the room.  I intend to put my turn to HP Pavilion p6740f with other components on the front of the room.

I intend using the build in Windows Media Center on my PC (Windows 7) via my xbox 360.  However, my PC is not an HDMI output.  It has a DVI output.

My question: IF I PLUG a DVI HDMI CABLE FROM MY PC HP Pavilion p6740f, TOWARD THE RECEIVER 591 A DENON AVR, WHICH PUSHES HDMI OUT OF MY OPTOMA HD25 LV PROJECTOR, will BE THE SIGNAL BEING INTERPRETER CORRECTLY, or WILL I NEED TO BUY YEAR HDMI CARD for MY PC TO USE instead?

    Be 740 p / i, or 1080 p / i, could I care, as long as it isn't 480 I / p.

It is a very specific question, so I intend to publish in sortiesdvd.com as well.

Thanks for your suggestions you may have.

    Sincerely yours.

He worked in the way I described, not vga adapter required. Thank you so much for the suggestion however.
    See you soon!

  • How can I use two DVI and HDMI outputs for monitors?

  • U2715H, DVI to HDMI Cable, no go?

    Hello

No picture, only 'capture to the power saving mode' when connecting to my PC to HDMI input on U2715H. NVIDIA GTX 260 is a graphics card DVI out connected via the input on a HDMI monitor cable. The same work! the old monitor U2711B. A way around it? Any ideas why does not?

    Cable Info

    Cable KabelDirekt 1 m HDMI to DVI 24 + 1 with Highspeed (1080 p Full HD 3D) - TOP series

    www.Amazon.co.uk/.../276-3134196-1921351

That cable is only evaluated to 1920 x 1080, which is fine for the U2711 = HDMI 1.3 HDMI 1920 x 1080 60 Hz. U2715H HDMI 1.4 wants to 2560 x 1440-60 Hz. I can't find a DVI cable to HDMI which is able to make this resolution. My advice is to remove this 6 year old video card and install a newer version which has out or CDM outside DP. Then use our cable for 2560 x 1440-60 Hz.

It's maybe a stupid question, but I need confirmation before you go out and buy a micro HDMI cable.  No matter what micro HDMI cable will work with BlackBerry devices 10 IE. Z30, Q10.  I also have a PlayBook that I want to connect it to my TV. Cable HDMI micro listed on the BlackBerry shop says it's compatible with the Z10 and Q10, but no mention of the Z30 or PlayBook.

    Thank you

Yes, the same micro HDMI cable will work for both devices.

  • The U2412M will operate using a HDMI cable to DVI?

    Hello

I am struggling to find a definitive answer to this question. I'm in the market for a new monitor and Dell U2412M seems perfect for my needs.

I use a Compaq CQ61 laptop at work which has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4200 with outputs HDMI and VGA graphics card. I am aware that VGA is less than digital connections, so I would like to connect the monitor using HDMI output from my laptop via HDMI > cable DVI to DVI - D monitor entry. I came across online discussions indicating that HDMI is limited at 1920 x 1080 on most devices, so I hesitate to buy the U2412M if I'm not going to get maximum performance. Other discussions claim that it's all nonsense and manufacturers do not know what they are talking about.

A HDMI to DVI - D cable dual link (like this http://www.ebuyer.com/130513-xenta-gold-plated-hdmi-to-dvi-d-dual-link-cable-black-2m-plex-034) connect the monitor to my laptop HDMI output and display the full resolution of 1920 x 1200?

For all of you who may wonder that in the future, I just got my U2412M as a double link base (don't know if it's important but it's better safe than sorry) dvi to hdmi cable from amazon and my laptop instantly recognized the monitor to complete resolution of 1920 x 1200, despite the specifications of manufacturers for my graphics card indicating that the hdmi output has a resolution of 1080 max , so the rumors are true - the manufacturers specifications can only be invoked!

The screen is fantastic, thank you!

    Hi Ashley... B,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.

Which version of Windows Vista is installed on your computer?

    1. first you need a video cable to make the physical connection. For a better image quality, you must connect to the computer to the TV using standard VGA ports or via DVI to HDMI cable provided your TV supports these ports.
    2. open the "display settings" in your Vista computer and activate the output to the TV screen. You can reflect the content of your computer on the TV or extend the display as a double screen control.
    3. pick up your TV remote and switch to "External inputs" in the menu. You need to change the value by default "Video 1" to a different selection which may be "HDMI 1" or "video 2" depending on how you made the connection. "
Important: Make sure you connect the cable to the TV before turning on the computer, because sometimes it may not recognize the external display.
You may also change the resolution of your TV screen using the display settings in your panel of control remains the image may appear distorted.

  • Computer screen turns off when I plug an HDMI cable

Initially, I had both my tv and computer off. I plugged the dvi to tv and the HDMI to laptop and turned them both on. I had no problems using my laptop I tried to synchronize the computer to the TV. However I must have accidentally hit something in the graphics options as my laptop screen went black. I unplugged my laptop hdmi cable and the screen returns to the top. But now, for some reason whenever I plug the HDMI cable for the laptop, the screen goes black. When I take it on it the screen comes back to the top. I have something that is originally for this change? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

  • Display failure DVI to HDMI

Recently, I bought a DVI to HDMI connector for use of my graphics card than Geforce 550 TI in my twenty six inch brand TV Toshiba (not aware of the name of the template). I also met dvi to dvi my monitor, which works very well. For a while, I was able to use both at the same time or separately. Quite recently, however, during the execution of the two, I accidentally put my TV as my main instead of my sixteen inches HP w1907 screen, causing some kind of accident. Now whenever I plug the second TV, both black and my audio temporarily stops then continues. It still seems to take at least my microphone input, judging by the fact that Skype call, in that I was still worked and still make sound, but two monitors just turn completely black and will not display anything. Help, please.

In addition, the TV still works all by using a VGA to TV with a VGA to DVI, simultaneously and individually, and he works as my main monitor without crashing.

    Hello

When your computer does not display anything on the screen, you have a problem no display or blank display. This may be caused by one of the following reasons:

    · Monitor or system has no power

    · The monitor is defective

    · Connecting the cable loose VGA(Video Graphics Adalptor) /DVI(Digital Visual Interface)

    · Video card problem

    · Problem connector AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) /PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) EI / motherboard

    · Problem of RAM (Random Access Memory)
