• Satellite M60 - issue of BIOS

  I am the owner of a computer Toshiba Satellite M60 laptop and have problems with my driver installed, which I explained in a thread below.
  (I get the message, that the driver does not work properly and I have to restart my laptop)

  I thought, that the problem can be the temperature, but know I have more fans on my laptop and never more than 35 degrees hot.
  Now, I read, that this problem can be a configuration issue in the BIOS and all the others, I know at the same time, who had the same problem could solve the problem by changing the graphics power (?) or something similar in the BIOS Setup. Then I checked the BIOS setup of my M60 Notebook with BIOS V 1.6 and had to realize, that the BIOS of the laptop Toshiba doesn't have anything, I can really change. This is an absolutely beginners BIOS Setup and I'm really angry about this. Is their ability to expand the possibilities of the BIOS Setup? I really had a lot of problems with this laptop since the beginning and so I know also that the standard configuration of Toshiba is not the best every time.

  First of all you shouldn't t mix for desktop PC BIOS and BIOS for laptops.
  These options are probably available in the BIOS for desktop PC, but certainly not in the BIOS for laptops.

  Cooling modules are controlled automatically by the BIOS, and you can't modify all the parameters that modify the cooling function.

• Issues of BIOS and HDD - Portege R830 passwords

  HI - looking for advice here.

  Have just updated the latest BIOS for my R830 - version 3.10 (EC version 1.20). Update went without a hitch.

  My fingerprint reader is kaput - and I will travel far for a while - so need to strengthen security on the laptop - so I put a password on the HDD via BIOS of thought.

  However, I'm having some problems - and would assess any help and advice.

  In the BIOS tab 'Security' - I have a number of choices. Password BIOS (user and supervisor), HDD1/SSD1 password (- only user, the User Mode + Master) and TPM (on, off).

  After searching for things - I think I should be leaving the password of the BIOS as "Unregistered", affecting the mode HDD1/SSD1 password user and TPM 'active '. This should then allow me 'register' a user password.

  I will then record a password - enter the password - and then another window opens for typing me any re-confirmation-what I do.

  But the password I use - I always get a message "passwords are not the same press ENTER to continue." Pressing continue brings me to the point in the BIOS where it says that the HDD1/SSD1 'User' password is not saved.

  You have to believe me - that even if my typing is not great - I type the same passwords. I even tried different types of passwords (digits only, single letter, mix of both)-nothing helped.

  I tried enable and disable TPM - again - no change.

  Any idea what's going on?

  Am I being a complete numpty - and forget to do something?

  I would like to know - because as it is, I'm going to travel with your laptop unprotected.

  I know there is the information on Windows 10 updates, but when I run the update drivers under support page here:

  It identifies my machine, but can not take it to the next stage - identification softward drivers and delivers this message instead:

  Please verify that your product is turned on and connected, and then try again in a few minutes.

  Alternatively, display all drivers available for your product below.

  If I ignore this and say it's an OS 8.1, however, it brings up a bunch of drivers that need to be updated.   It would be prudent to simply update these drivers even if the machine is no longer an OS 8.1, or is asking for trouble?

  Still, I don't ask this because the product support page is not able to detect the OS of my machine and then make a list of the drivers that are associated with.

  10 Windows installs the latest drivers, so I don't pretend to install the HP drivers.
