HP 15-g094sa Notebook PC: short hard drive DST check failure
The Quick Test system returns a result of:
Short hard drive DST Check: failure
Failure ID: PGFB13-7JP81S-XD7WL1-60VN03
Do I need a new hard drive? He's still on warranty. Bought in the UK but for the moment in the Middle East. What to do next?
Thank you
Miker1
Hi @MikerP!
I'm sorry to say this, but the 24-character error codes indicates a drive failure, which means that the drive is defective and must be replaced.
You always have access to the data stored on the disk? If you do, then save as much information as possible and look for a replacement drive. If the product is still under warranty, you can contact support, but in case you have no guarantee and you would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself – please let me know.
I hope this helps and good luck!

I belive the hard drive failed, it currently has 750 GB mounted, if it must replace can I put the hard drive?
It's an easy DIY job?
Thank you
David Hancock
Hello David.
Of course you can upgrade the HARD drive to a larger drive, but it is not easy to do on this model.
The keyboard must be removed to access the screws underneath. Screws at the bottom should be deleted, then you can remove the top cover. An audio plate must also be removed before you can remove the HARD drive.
Here's the manual from HP explaining the procedure more in detail. You want to read it carefully.
If you have not created the recovery media before occurred problems, you can always contact HP support to obtain a copy.

A question that I had resolved a few months ago started occurring again, in which the laptop is struggling to load things when started and soon after falls down and has to be restarted. I guess that means that the hard drive has failed once again and so I have no doubt about how to solve this problem, but I write this query to ask: why? Why has a laptop, I had since not even a year at this stage has already had the same problem occur twice, even with the replacement of the piece that broke the first time? I am willing to assume that this is something to do with excessive I will admit that it is enabled for a good part of almost every day, often for several hours I play the games on Steam on it. Currently, I do not plan to have the hard drive replaced again because it is clearly an issue that will keep occurring that the way things are and if I can get a PC that won't break every time a gust of wind so it hits. Any information on why this happens and how it could potentially be avoided in the future is appreciated, especially if it offers a solution that doesn't involve payment of an exorbitant amount of money.
The worst enemy of hard drives is heat. If you play on a computer that is pushed to the limits of the game, a lot of it can wear on a hard drive for a few months. You get a lot of activity of fan during the game? A cooling pad may be an option, or on a computer box of Grandpa instead of a laptop for the games.

HP laptop laptop 15-af131dx: short hard drive DST Check: FAILURE
TBH, I'm not sure if I am running windows 10 64 or 32, I use by default it comes with
So what happened was first fine could start my computer, but it would "lock" occasionally. I would observe a video, click on different tab, things like that and everything would become insensitive and gel (did not only happen to my browser would happen even with my search bar). Reboot and giving him a moment could solve this problem, but it's up to what happened to 20 or 30 minutes after the start to the top. I decided to do a reset, chose not to save my files (do not do a wipe 100% although) because there is nothing of critical importance, and I thought it might be a virus. Do you have the wipe, had a good bit error, in that the cloth could not be made (I don't know the exact wording). I tried again, same thing. He directed me to some options, launch windows 10 normally chose one, just to see if I still have problems. Done this, and what happens is computer would start, the HP logo, cycle to start the computer to the top, HP logo, it was in a loop. Waited a good hour and a half to two hours, would not stop. Off manually on computer and on a few times, same problem. Turned the computer off, then on, f2, quick test system and I got the error in the title

Hello
The error code 24 characters is a disk failure short self-test and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.
As your laptop comes with Windows 10, it is probably still under warranty, then contact HP and arrange for the replaced disk - if necessary, you can check the status of your warranty here.
If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

Laptop summer if crush/freezing over the past few months, but have always managed to leave by restoring from a USB system. This time however it froze, then when I turned on even once, I received a message "RECOVERING YOUR PC/DEVICE has NEED of BEING FIXED" and I can't go any further. I ran a test of the system to turn on and when he checked the short DST check hard he said "failed" and then the error 67GBX3-81R89a-XD7WMF-60WJ03 code.
I'm stuck now. It is still under warranty.

I'm sorry for the problems you are experiencing.
I have bad news and good news tell me which first?
Well, I'll start with bad - your drive HARD is dead and is defective. It is hardware problem. You will probably not be able to recover your data and I hope that you have of course backup (copy) of your most important data.
Good news is that your PC is still under warranty active and your problem can be repaired for free.
You must contact the HP Support, explain your problem, give them your code > 67GBX3-81R89A-XD7WMF-60WJ03
and they will arrange with you how to replace the defective part.

Pavilion g6-2218nr short hard drive DST test Failed
I have a HP Pavilion laptop g6-2218nr that will not start. When you run the marketing diagnostic test and the hard drive diagnostic test, both tests showed the hard drive DST short FAILED.
The failure code is:
GUQDU4-6B872D-MFPX1F - 60Q 103
Product ID:
C2N56UA #ABA
The laptop is unfortunately no longer under warranty. Should the hard drive be replaced? Can you recommend a replacement? Are there instructions available?
Thank you!
Hello
The error code indicates that the hard drive is faulty and will need to be replaced - a brief guide to do it yourself is detailed below.
Your laptop is considered as coming with a 320 GB hard drive, but you can install just as easily a 500 GB or 750 GB HARD drive if you want a little more space - readers at the following links are examples that would be perfect for your laptop.
The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 52 of your & Maintenance Guide.
Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive - this is described in the document of HP here.
If you do not have your recovery discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.
If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the United States, contact HP here.
If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

Short hard drive DST fail – HP ENVY m6-1155eo Notebook PC
Hello
I'm laptops: HP ENVY m6-1155eo Notebook PC, I use Windows 8.1 64-bit
My hard drive is causing my computer to freeze and a lot of blocking problem, which makes my computer unusable because I use it for audio work and a LIVE audio work. So I checked it with the disk self-test
and he got this:
Failure ID: GLG8XX-6A270T-XD7X1F-60UM03did some research and I couln can't find anything. What it means? Do I have to replace the HARD drive?
Thank you
ALFYes, the hard drive must be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If it is not in warranty, you can buy a SATA notebook hard drive retail. Don't forget to get one with a capacity at least as large as the original 750Go hdd to use HP recovery discs to reinstall your operating system and software. It may be more grand, but of no small ability.

Hello my problem occurred as a result of the creation or modification of partitions to install ubuntu (for reasons of college) however I stupidly didn't check my disk was dynamic or basic and unfortunately it was dynamic, if after failing to install ubuntu windows 10 had an error in INACCESSEBLE_BOOT_DRIVE when I oppened the cmd troubleshooting and checked on diskpart did not exist but with a status unknown after dvd player I made the diagnosis and that he got a short DST has not... Is there a chance to correct the reader because im out of warranty and im in no condition to buy a new hard drive... Thanks in advance
Go to this site and create a bootable CD.
http://hddguru.com/software/2005.10.02-MHDD/
Boot from the CD.
If she asks do you want SCSI, click No or just press ENTER. (countdown to 30 seconds)
The port selection select your HARD drive. (Usually 1, 3 or 6).
If you do not see your HARD drive, you will need to restart and go into the BIOS and SATA ATA value.
After choosing your type of HARD drive, ERASE and press to enter. (This will erase all data).
Leave it to erase the entire disc. (Depending on the size, it may take 2 to 5 hours.)
Once done erase all disk F4 2 hit shots and will start the test.
Many people simply replace the HARD drive and all that is wrong is there is simply soft errors. (Errors caused by software not hardware errors.)
If you need help running the program let me know.

HP 14-af013au: check short hard drive DST: failure
Hi my pc has this problem.
Failure ID: 9C579Q-7MV82B-MFGJMG-60QJ03
Product ID: N4F27PA #ABG
Can help me how to solve this problem? It seems that the hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will send a replacement. If this is not the case, a laptop SATA hard detail can be used. Just be sure to get a quality at least equal the original in order to use recovery disks. It may be big, but not small ability more. For example if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can use a 750 GB hard drive, but not a 320 GB hard drive.

Pavilion 15: check the DST short hard drive failed
My laptop is not starting, when I open it I get the hp logo then a black screen, when I did a fast system to test the short hard drive DST check failed with a page ID: PLW6J2-6SL88N-MFPWXG-60RR03 and a product ID: E2G95EA #ABV.
My main concern is the data stored on the hard drive what can I do to get the job of the laptop to not lose data?
Stop using the laptop. Replace the hard drive with a new one. Get a SATA to usb adapter to connect the old drive (which you will eliminate) to another computer to try to save the data. There is a good chance of data is still recoverable this way.

P6-2335ea: failure of DST short hard drive
Hello
I did a fast hard drive test and the DST short hard drive failed,
Failure ID: 98EKU4-0007TB-X87T0K-60W803
A fast response is appreciated with kindness
Thank you
Model number P6-2335ea

Well, if this is the case, it must be too late to consider waiting. A new hard drive seems to be in order. Given that the post says Windows 10, which is the updated "free"? If this is the case, then order a 1 TB hard drive to replace the failed unit. On the restoration of the OS, I have to assume certain things
(1) you do not have the recovery put DVD to reinstall Windows 8, as it was
(2) you do not really want to reinstall Windows 8, on the new hard drive
(3) If you have access to a working computer and can make windows 10 media creation dvd site M$, you might be able to reinstall Windows 10 using this. Of course, any other software that has been installed on the old drive before it failed will be lost, unless you have the information you need to reinstall that, too.
Considering that the computer does not start, I have to assume the worst condition for the reader. It is perhaps not completely watered and important data cannot be retrieved, but don't count on it.
Let me know how things go once the drive is replaced.

Portable: hard drive DST SHORT failed
My computer won't start and repeatedly goes to a blue screen with a sunburst type above (the mouse pointer still work). I've run the HP tests and get this result:
"Short DST: FAILURE.
FAILURE ID: GDSDBX-TLR7RJ-9XL03F-604J03
PRODUCT ID: XF288EA #ABU
Hard drive 1
"Test drive: FAILED.
I guess that means that my hard drive is irreparable, but can someone confirm this. Also, I will be able to buy another hard drive and use the ERD that I did to reinstall Windows 7? I ask because it was preinstalled on your laptop and came with no disk to reinstall. Only, I was commissioned to do a repair disk.
Thanks in advance.
Dan
Each time the short hard drive DST test fails with 24 alphanumeric characters "GDSDBX-TLR7RJ-9XL03F-604J03" which indicates that the hard drive has failed and which needs to be replaced to solve the problem
This problem could be due to an Application or a driver conflict, virus issues, corruptions of files due to incompatible applications, incorrect judgments, update failures due to conflicts, mounted sudden power so portable, sudden falls etc...
HP will offer a replacement HDD if the laptop warranty is Active, otherwise you can buy a SATA hard drive in a nearby retail store
Please make sure that you get at least equal as long as the original one in order to use recovery disks. If you need you can buy a bigger, but not smaller hard drive capacity. For example, if you have a 500 GB hard drive you can improve it to 750 GB hard drive, but not 320 GB hard drive
Please try the troubleshooting below indicated once the steps:
Step 01. Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter AC.
Step 02. Press and hold the power button for more than 30 seconds
Step 03. Plug the AC power adapter / (leave the battery for now)
Step 04. Press the power button and check if the unit is operating normally
If the steps listed above is not enough, then you can try reinstalling the hard disk on your laptop
If the problem persists again please Contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP could replace the hard drive and provide recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)
Note: Back up all personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the HDD defective via SATA USB adapter with another PC or a PC even after replacing the HARD drive & put in place of the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files. Pavilion 2206TX: hard drive DST short test failed
Hard drive DST short test failed.
For a few days, my laptop is not starting.
Run the diagnostics showed "hard drive DST short test failed.
I removed the hard drive [brand Toshiba] and connected as an external drive to a Mac.
I am able to access your hard drive and copy some content from it. So, it looks like a problem with the hard drive.
Is this a problem with the connection of harrdisk to the motherboard or with the hard drive itself?
Help, please.
Hello
Yes, you can use your friend recovery media in your. It should work.
I'm not able to find a recovery media for your model of third-party vendors too.
No, you can't create USB recovery by plugging the old drive as external references to another PC. You have to use HP application recovery manager supplied with your laptop and create a set. I think that you will not be able to do from a failing drive.
