    Hello

All portable Toshiba have preinstalled power management software.
This application run by the processor and the use of cooling.
Usually, this app works perfectly and controls many options like the processing speed of the CPU, cooling method, turn off settings, etc.

If you laptop will stop because of overheating problems, so there must be something wrong with the cooling module. I guess that it doesn t work full implementation.
I can't give you an exactly the answer why it is not working properly, but usually dust and dirt inside the laptop is responsible for the failure. But if this problem persists after cleaning if the cooling module has a failure.

In this case, the only way to solve this problem is to contact the service of Toshiba. It can check the module.

  • Satellite A655-11Z - overheating problems

Ive had my laptop since November and for the last 5 months his serious overheating problems suffered. Initially, it was all game, but during the last 3 months, it happens when im on a webcam chat or Facebook. The fan is constantly on full, even when I run a cooler under it.

I know 2011 models were recalled due to a problem of chipset, but the mine has not been included.

Anyone who suffers from this? Or if someone can shine a light on what could be the issue. Its quite annoying for a laptop of £1300 to do.

    Thank you

    Hello

I could imagine there is a lot of dust in your notebook that blocks air outcomoing and if your laptop is overheating. This not uncommon, if you n t s cleaned up in the last 5 months

You can use normal compressed air jet to blow the dust from the cooling fans. That is why it s not necessary to disassemble the computer, so it can be done in 5 minutes.

Laptop needs to be cleaned all 3-4 months, and from my own experience, I can tell that a lot of dust comes out if I do this. The laptop runs much quieter after the cleaning procedure.

  • Satellite Pro A40 inside cleaning due to overheating problems

    Hi Forum,
I want to clean my Satellite Pro A40 carefully inside due to overheating problems.

Can someone provide me with a sort of manual how to open the SPA40 correctly resp. How to clean it.

I think that indoor air to blow a few tablets will not solve the problem, there is a lot of dirt and dust inside.

IWant to do myself, so please do not recommend you speak to a technical expert.

    Thanxx in advance...

    Hello

    > I want to do it myself, so please don't recommend me to contact a technical specialist.

In my own opinion, generally it s not a bad suggestion if some advises to contact a technician for laptop to a radiator cleaning because the dismantling of most of the computers mobile new generation is very delicate and not easy. Mostly one or the other has no experience and in this case, it is best contact an ASP to help him try to clean the laptop and probably damage parts.
If the warranty is valid such procedure will void the warranty

But don t worry buddy ;) I'll try to help you as much as I can
I have goggled a bit and found it nice [statement | http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaA45/Satellite-A45-remove-hinges-1.htm] how to disassemble the Satellite A45.
The A45 is very similar to the A40 and so pictures of the laptop must be the same.

Step 4 (photo) and step 5 shows the dirty radiator and how to remove it.
You do not need to disassemble the laptop full but only the radiator at the bottom of the unit cover.

Notes; Always be careful and don't use force to remove anything ;) and you know everything you do are at your own risk

I hope I could help. Best regards and Merry Christmas ;)

    Hello

It may be an overheating problem and it is normally the main reason for your problem.

    .

If it's a hardware problem, it would not not to restart.

That said, it is possible to have a hairline cracks in the motherboard, etc, which becomes obvious as soon as it warms up.

Check vents for hair, dust, etc. and do not use a laptop when it is based on material surfaces: bedspreads, blankets, etc.

If the problem persists, because it of a laptop, bring it to a local computer and reliable repair shop and get them to open and clean the dust inside...

Here is an interesting discussion about the reasons for your problem:

  • Overheating problem Aurora R4 SOLVED!

I posted a few days ago on my aurora overheating problem but got no real answer... I decided to find the problem by myself and look at what I found...

My theory was that my pump wasn't working because 1 hose (the fate) was getting really hot (almost cannot touch) and was cold.

So I removed my complete watercooling systems

the liquid inside pump was always the full problem here

The entrance on the right side only... no problem

And finally... the problem, the release of the liquid has been totally blocked by this thing gelly

So I cleaned it with alcohol, rolled new thermal paste on the CPU and here we go

    Front

    After

So I hope that this thread is going to help someone because I did a lot of research and found nothing that helped me.

And I have a question for alienware support wasn't was not the watercooling system was supposed to be maintenance free?

That look like a poor quality watercooling fluid! And it's not old I bought my computer in June 2012 then guaranteed ended 1 month ago...

I know the people of Dell to read these discussions. It seems that it is a known fault and why too much happens. It should be brought to the attention of the one who makes the cooling systems and power to Alienware. It's just a forum among many others then, how many of these failures are not reported. The fact that it happens just once the guarantee runs out looks like rather questionable.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones "BOLD" battery draining - overheating problems

    Hi all

I'm new here I have BlackBerry for almost 2 years (curve 3000) and I was really happy with it (no problems) then I bought "BOLD" Saturday and has exhausted the battery - overheating problems! I downloaded the new software from T-Mobile Croatia site (they have one last but which did not help) after recharging and stay all night, he went flat within 6-7 hours so I went today (Monday) and they swapped the device for me, now I'm waiting to see what will happen. I have 4 questions:

1 can I download new software version of the device from the BlackBerry site that even I bought in Croatia from T-Mobile and which will have consequences on the device? If yes what are they?

    2. what causes this battery drain - overheating problems and how they can be stopped?

    3. is Facebook app in conflict with "BOLD"? Yes I have it on mine.

4 are all the other apps in conflict with it, i.e. Windows Live Messenger because I have too much that one on it?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. no consequence... the latest version of the "BOLD" OS device is located here:

    http://www.BlackBerryForums.com/General-9000-series-discussion-bold/194263-OS-9000-bold-4-6-0-477-4-...

2 could be a number of issues, several. You have 3G enabled on your "BOLD", on the one hand, (manage connections > Mobile Network Options?, and you have a 3 G with Tmobile Croatia network?) I know not flippant, you could ask that. If your device is constantly looking for a 3 G network and not finding what will cause the big battery drain.

Check your applications running in the background. There are usually four or five applications that will be always running (Messages, Call Logs/phone, BlackBerry Messenger, home screen and the browser; there are others such as BeamBerry and alarms which will run also). Ensure that the browser is NOT on an active Web page (must return the bookmarks page only). Close all other applications that do not need to be running (the camera or a game you were playing or Google Maps).

3 No.The FB app is developed by RIM.

    4. What do you mean 'in conflict '?

  • Satellite L650-1EQ - black screen and overheating problems

    Hello

I have a problem with my laptop Satellite L650-1EQ.
A few days ago my laptop was overheated quite often.
I would like to start playing a video game and the computer could actually turn off after 10 minutes of playing it.

I realized that this was getting serious so I stopped using my computer to play games and I decided that I need to clean it. However, I was looking for online on how to clean up my computer and then my screen turns white!

I didn't know what happened and was very scared.
    I turned off the computer.

The next day I turned on the computer to see if it was good, and the screen was black however the laptop power light comes on and I hear the vents work.

I turned on the computer and tried to start it again, and the computer started fine.
The image appeared and the problems disappeared.
But I knew that something bad was about to come so I took the laptop computer repair technician.

    I told her what happened.
He has used the vacuum to "clean" the dust of the computer and told me to go back if the computer kept a overheating.

I restarted the computer again when I came home, and after an hour and a half the computer screen turns white but I don't think that it overheated. : s

I tried to start the computer and the screen is black, no picture, the only light on is the power one and I hear the vents work. I tried of transformed market but now it just stays as if it were now.

I tried on another computer for solutions such as the battery and pressing the power button for 2 minutes and other things, but nothing has worked. I don't know what to do so I decided to create a thread to get answers: s

    Please help me, thank you!

PS: I'm sorry for my English, I know that's not the best

    Hello

This does not sound very good boyfriend. I'm afraid that there could be some sort of dysfunction material Mr. something like the problems of graphics card or motherboard issue.

You can try plugging the external monitor to the laptop just to see if something would be visible on 2nd screen.
But if nothing will appear on the 2nd monitor, I think that the chip of the graphics card died :(

Of course, this is just my personal opinion and a laptop computer technician must check the laptop to know what part of the laptop could be faulty.

    Laughing out loud

    What about now?
I mean if the laptop technicians say it s a hardware malfunction and has nothing to do with overheating, the laptop must be repaired and pay for it if it s not under warranty anymore.

I think that no one here can help you. It s a user forum to only and if the equipment is defective, it needs replacement. That's fact!

How to understand this? Your laptop off or just to reach a higher CPU temperature?

I mean until your computer laptop doesn t go off, there is no great reason to panic.
How to use your laptop? Do you use it on the desk or perhaps placed on the bed or on your lap?

  • Strange overheating problem Satellite X 200

First of all, I must say that I am not a pro on the material.

    Data sheet:
    Toshiba Satellite X 200-25 G
    Core 2 Duo T7500 2.20 GHz
    3 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8700 M GT (512 MB dedicated VRAM)
Service Pack 1 of Windows Vista 32

Here is a description of the problem, really intrigues me:

A month ago, when I was playing Dead Space with settings maxed out except for the resolution, an incident occurred during a graphic effect. The game hung because a little bit changed the resolution and the screen started to Flash. Items in the game has changed color and small black squares appeared everywhere. I stop and therefore the game is unplayable whenever I tried to start it until I reinstalled it - that lead me to believe there is a possible software problem. Vista said the graphics driver crashed. In addition, after the laptop worked after some time started windows to display graphic objects - shadows had black spots on them, parties random interface buttons began to randomly appear on the screen for a short time, video during the videoconference contained squares of color.

I tried to update the driver graphic but messed with the (unofficial) update and had to roll back. Finally, I was forced to reinstall Windows and the problems stopped. So far.

I was playing NFS: Undercover when the same incident occurred (the accident takes place in 2 stages - all first there is a blockage then there is no quality problem but performance is bad, after a certain time more the flickering occurs.) And yet I play Crysis maxed out almost without problems (but now the problem is so serious that I'm scared to run it). Same problem occurs with Left 4 Dead, that does not demand a lot and performance is perfect. After that I reinstalled win there was no more than windows and video not questions but game only.

I tried everything I could. With Everest tested through NFS - GPU temperature reached 65 degrees normally quickly then reached 68 slowly when an accident occurred. But few crashes also occurred on lower temperatures too (65). the highest recorded temperature is 69. Also, some games reached high time without crashing (maybe a fluke). The NFS crash took place during the maximization of the game window (coincidence?). Heard talking about a problem of overheating with the GPU chip series (G84M), but the complaints are not specific to my card.

After a crash on Left 4 dead today, I checked the time again and was shocked when I saw the time CPU - 73 or smth. I have not seen any problems before. I pointed out Everest CPU and time is high in a few seconds - up to 78 degrees! It was only for CPU 2, for 1 processor, the temperature was about 5 degrees lower and the average CPU was not higher tha 2 CPU. No fine limits! No data on the speed of the fan. Extract fans (without opening) - extremely high time, were higher before. Right fan does not blow as hard as the left but I think it's normal. Physically there is no sign of any problem. For a single simple window opening the CPU speeds may increase by 8 degrees in the second which I think is realistic. After the last crash, it seems the 'inactive' CPU and the time GPU are up with 3 to 5 degrees (GPU 56, 51-56 CPU 1 CPU 2 54-58).

I keep the laptop on a desk, average air temperature is not high.

Please help me with this, I am desperate and don't know what to think - the laptop only 3-4 months. Thanks in advance

Have you recently cleaned the dust from the radiator?

Maybe its overheating and cause errors.

You can use a can of compressed air to blow off the dust.

  • Satellite Pro U400 starts and overheating problems

    Hello

6 weeks ago, I bought a Satellite Pro U400. Shortly after that I bought, I noticed that the computer overheating. After 1 hour of use, it becomes very hot in the touchpad area, as well in the base of the computer and on the touchpad itself. It is very annoying because I almost burn my fingers with the touch pad.

The problems began 10 days ago. I had been using the laptop for an hour when it suddenly turned off without notice. Power outage? I don't know Don t. I looked like a sytem of overheating protection. My previous laptop had the same problem. After a few minutes, I was able to turn it back on.

Then it happened again a few days ago, but it took me 5 minutes to turn on. Yesterday, it happened again, and after 45 minutes without response, I went to bed. In the morning, I was able to turn it on.

This also happens when wifi is disabled, it is not only a problem with the wifi card, overheating of the system.

Am I the only one having this problem? I will try to send it back to Toshiba for a replacement or a refund.

Is this normal in a really new machine?

    Thank you

First, the warming of the touchpad is normal for almost every laptop, due to construction. Under this, there are the HARD drive and it produces heat. With my last books, and it was not bad, too.
But really to get so hot?

Due to the protection against overheating, it is normal that you cannot turn on your laptop immediately.
But the wireless card is not the device in question, because it's a very small piece of hardware and produce little heat.

You said, you had this problem with your notebook previous too. Let me ask you, when you use your notebooks? What your table surface there or is there no matter what on that table cloth?

What I can tell you right now is, to check your locations of fantilation for all dust or maybe you have objects near it so that hot air can not cool.

  • On Qosmio X 870 overheating problem

Hey there, so the problem is that as it says in the title.
I bought this Qosmio in June 2013, and it worked perfectly, when I played the games for a long time and others, he treated them well, but 4 months after it overheated and was arrested for the first time, it kept happening whenever I tried to play games so I gave up on them , because I would not damage the processor or graphics card. In the meantime, I bought a cooling package for the computer laptop and that has helped, the laptop was not overheating as easily.

Now, recently, I came back to my country and was finally able to send the laptop for repair, the problem is, toshiba said it's a software problem and material, and well, I find it really hard to believe that everything was up-to-date, such as drivers and so on, I don't have really anything to the laptop when it started overheating so I honestly thought it was hardware problems. What makes believe me the excuse of software or even less, it's that they they do not want to specify what the software problem, they just say it is the software and want me to pay to repair the laptop, probably format. If it helps, I found dust more than once on the bottom of the laptop, I guess it was one of his events who accumulate fast enough dust.

I even asked the opinion of some technicians who work with laptops and such and they all alluded to hardware problems, such as dust, fan works not not or probably the thermal paste which maybe dried up.

So I want to know your opinions and suggestions on this topic, it is possible that it is actually a software problem? Because I installed everything that I wanted in the first month and then never messed with what whatever ever and the laptop has always worked until he started to overheat for no aparent reason. Only, it takes about 15 minutes of game then stops, eco mode helps you last longer, but also eventualy stops. I also tried to lower the graphics in the game, but it's not help. temperature of the laptop was still about 50 - 60 (celcius (I think) when I was not using any programs, I would check the temperature with tempro. If I used a software like photoshop and other then he would get quite warm, but not to the point of paralyzing however.

I hope that these descriptions help.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

I have the same machine as you and have very similar problems!

    Things that have helped to:

Clean the fan. Laptops are generally quite inadequate cooling and if this fan is clogged it will make a big difference. One of those small bottles of compressed air it blows everything, or if you feel confident take it apart to access the fan to obtain directly. Do it regularly.

Re-apply the thermal paste on the processor. This requires some caution, but there are a lot of video tutorials out there - put a dough of good quality is really cheap but usually help much. It did for me!

Change the political cooling system. Go to control panel > power options > change plan settings > advanced settings. Find the political cooling system and make sure that both options are on * assets * not passive.

Make sure your drivers are updated to 100%. Check all this.

I also use a cooling block.

My internal fan has stopped working before, but I didn't know that as my block cooling fans have been making noise again. This may sound stupid, but I want to watch it.

That's all I can suggest me, I hope that he could make a difference.

  • SA60: What really causes the constant overheating problem?

We purchased 2 Toshiba Satellite about 16 months ago. Both started to feel constantly overheating ensure downs after about 1 year use. Both have been cleaned professionally.

A SA60-106 was a BIOS update that has well except the fan runs continuously now. The other is does not suffer from problems according to Tosh support of overheating, so no Bios update available. We had to replace this laptop now because it was useless for the work.
Tosh claims that it concerns a type of Satellite produced between February and September 2000. It is obviously false, when you look at these pages of the forum. Also why do they continue selling a defective product, product 3 years before buying?

My point is that the solutions proposed by Tosh as well as this forum alone try (and fail) to cure the symptoms of underlying hardware failure. Two laptop computers were very well for several months. Increase the fan operation and cleaning vents might help a little, but what causes actually CPU get so hot, suddenly, in the first place?

Surely, only increase the ventilation means that the processor is always running to temperatures unhealthy and will soon give the soul completely. I can not even save my files because the laptop does not stay on long enough.

    Hello, Michaela

It is not easy to say why this is happening. In my opinion you should built out the HARD drive and connect it as external device to the other unit and this way try to save all your data.

Your units are pre-installed with recovery media? If this isn't the case, are just Toshiba drivers installed or maybe the drivers given by the producers of hardware parts?
