  Here are a few points to note when replacing your HARD drive:

  You are not limited to any particular drive manufacturer.

  The speed of rotation of the disc can be 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM

  Hello, I just bought a HP Elitebook 8440p "off lease" of Tigerdirect and seeks to upgrade the two memory (from 4 GB to 8 GB) and put in the eligible of the biggest HARD drive I can. Either a 512 GB SSD or a 1 TB WD hybrid WD BLACK2 (1 TB HDD / 120 GB SSD Combo drive in a single package!). I would like to see more large disk addressable by using Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit OS since I don't seem able to find this info on the web. HP offers only only a 256 GB SSD in its specifications. but I didn't know if it was do limitations of BIOS or availability at the time of production, even for the HARD drive to 512 GB.

  Also, I would like to know if 9.5 mm compliant Bay that it needs to be for the WD drive. Can't find that either, and while the new laptop has not yet happen, all measure exactly the same way regarding what works and what simply cannot be "cheated".

  Essentially the reason why you do not have a maximum size of hard drive is because there is not everything. Between SATA and 64-bit OS', worrying about maximum size of hard drive is a thing of the past. Are the biggest readers found in the manual, as you suspected him, just a function of the market at the time of manufacture.   I have a HP Pavilion DV6000 (p/n: GA456UA #ABA, serial number DV6449us) for portable computer without a hard drive. I happened to have a Toshiba 500 GB SATA 5400 tr/MIN used available hard drive and I would like to know if the HARD disc is compatible with your laptop. I asked computer two shops and the other says that the laptop has been limited by the BIOS with a maximum of 200 GB hard drive; However, other store said that the laptop can take a larger size of the HARD drive.  Could someone clarify this for me?

  If the drive is compatible, I would also like to know what are the procedures would get Notepad running after the installation of the HARD disk, and if I need to update the BIOS? Should I format the HARD drive? When should I install the OS?

  In addition, I don't have a HP re - install the disk to reinstall the operating system. Can I use my another PC temporarily reinstall drive (Vista Home Premium 32 - bit) to test if the laptop works properly before purchasing a license of the OS?   on the program files, you can transfer them, but it is useless - they
  will not work.

  You can replace it with this number of HP spare. It will be smaller, slower, and 3 times more expensive. Computer laptop SATA hard drives are interchangeable, generic, industry standard. If you buy the one above and it doesn't work PM me and I'll buy it for you at your expense.

  In any case, I assume you have a computer laptop lenovo work and office work. You try to connect lenovo's HARD drive in a USB drive kit and extract data from the desktop.

  (1) is the disc encrpted HARD lenovo? Check the Bios and also if lenovo security software are installed.

  (2) the fastest way I'm doing it today is to connect laptops and office to a network. Share the disk, and then extract the data from the laptop or desktop. A second option is remote laptop and retrieves the data.

  (3) another possibility is that your laptop is XP, IE the formatting isn't AHCI (check the bios under sata), it is in compatibility mode. The Office use Vista or Windows 7?

  I could give my experience with Satellite M30 and HDD upgrade possibilities.
  To my knowledge the M30 Sat supports a 40 GB, 60 and 80 GB HARD drive for sure.
  In my opinion, you can use the 100 GB HARD drive, but more large HARD s drive will not run and works correctly.
  So go to a smaller size of HARD drive and enjoy the laptop!
