• New Photosmart 5520 will not print in black

  I have a new HP Photosmart 5520 printer all-in-one.  Black ink ran out so I replaced it with a previously used ink cartridge which is of the same type # 564 but a XL version.  This cartridge has been barely used.  Now, I just can't get anything to print in black.  It will print in color, but not black.  I tried to turn off the printer.  I put the cartridge in my printer and it worked fine.  What should I do?

• HP Photosmart 5520: Factory definition and "time".

  I have a Photosmart 5520. While I was away I used a different printer and when I came to change the printer to my own he asked me a name administrators and password before proceeding. Of course like so many others I have not the slightest idea what is despite trying many combinations. Then, I tried to find out what others have done and took the printer back to factory settings. When trying to connect to the WPS PIN, (which lasts 4 minutes), he repeatedly said "timed out" just before the end, twice when he had only 1 second to go.

  Can someone please tell me what I should do next.

  At this point, the fact that you try to connect by using the pin code WPS tells me that you try to reconfigure the printer to your wireless network. If this is correct, run the Wireless Setup Wizard instead. To run the wizard, tap the wireless on the top of the screen (this is the 2nd of the 4 icons at the top), then navigate to and select Setup Wizard wireless. This wizard will search your network and then ask for the password.

  I bought a 5520 a few months ago, it worked fine until a few days ago. Since I can't 'scan to email', not more.

  Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support.  I see that you are no longer able to use the e-mail of your printer Photosmart 5520 scanning function.

  Please start by assigning an IP address manually and manual DNS servers for your printer. I've included a link to an another post which has the steps with screenshots.  Don't worry that the screenshots are for a Photosmart 7510, the steps are the same.  Once you have configured the manual IP and DNS servers, you should be able to connect to web services and use the e-mail scanning function.

  When I try and print/piece attached to my M9 a HTC wireless on my HP Photosmart 5520 I get an error message saying that the "print spooler has stopped." Then I get a message saying "this printer is not available right now.

  I can print pictures from my phone and any type of document from our computers (connected or wireless USB).

  The print queue is empty.

  What should I try next?

  I can not put 2-sided on my Photosmart 5520e for Word documents. I'm sure I've seen this option previously in my Menu print but it cannot access it now.

  Open the file you want to the printer and select print on the file menu
  NOTE: The print window might be minimized. Click Show details to see all the available parameters.
  
  Click the Copies and Pages of the menu drop down and select layout.
  
  Set the duplex as the binding edge Long (Portrait) or binding Long Edge (landscape).
  
  You can save the settings for later use by clicking preset > save current settings as preset. By default, a used preset will remain until another preset will be used.

• Photosmart HP 5520. Can not scan to my computer

  Photosmart HP 5520. I can print from my computer very well, but cannot scan from the printer TO my computer. Message is "connection error". This happens sometimes, but usually I can fix in any turn off, unplug and start again. Today, nothing works. This is getting tiresome. Printing works fine.  BTW, I do not control the router & it can just turn on and off. I'm not technologically savvy; I just want the thing to work.

  The scan of the computer is disabled by default (I don't know why guys/girls software desinged like that). On my machine, driver for Windows 8 is much better (even same exe file). Turn it on by following the steps below (Please note: for Windows machines)

  Double-click the icon of the printer on the desktop,

  Click on manage the Scan of the computer.

  Click Activate

  You can check the last four too.

  My HP 5520 printer does not print in black.  I thought that my printer was off black ink so I replaced it with a real black HP ink cartridge TWICE... still does not print. I tried all the steps suggested by HP, clean the head print alignment printer and when I tried to print the alignment page, got message: alignment page not detected.

  I am frustrated beyond!  Can anyone help?

  If you are still under warranty, then you can contact HP for a replacement.

• HP 5520: Removal of cover HP5520

  Operating instructions said "to make copies of original thick, such books, you can remove the cover".

  No where does explain how to remove the cover. Several questions and answers on this forum explaining how to accomplish the withdrawal of cover on model 5510, but this does not work on the model 5520.

  So, how one removes the lid on the 5520 model?

  Thank you for visiting the Forums from the HP Support! I see that you have copies of the thicker items with your Photosmart HP 5520. In the manual it advises to remove the cover, you can do this by lifting the lid straight up (not slanted) and carefully lifting it upward. To facilitate this, there is no button to eject or snaps.

  My own personal suggestion is to throw a towel above the lid of the scanner when copying the thicker elements, this will save the lid every time and will ensure that you are not damaging the material to printers.

  I just replaced my imac, and, for the moment, I have no printer with it, like one I [HP PSC 1400 series] is attached to my older imac. and not sopported by my new imac.  My new imac has maverick 10.9.3 os and I need to buy a new printer for her. I was thinking og buying the HP Photosmart wireless e-all-in-one printer 5520, but I need to be sure that it is compatible with my machine and I won't have problems to use.  Can anyone help?

  My husband recently bought a HP Photosmart 5520 printer while overseas, it was mailed to me and he always tells me that one or more of the cartledges ink are broken or missing and should be replaced, but when I up open transport of ink access door won't move at all and I cannot even make it move using my hands help Please?

  My cartridge was blocked completely to the right, could not move at all. After having much jiggling autour and try to pull to the left the transport kind of jumps down a little more inside to the right.  I tried to pull it to the left, but he was stuck again as something he was blocking, and it came to the top when I shot more difficult.  I messed with it to the point where the transport jumped down, and then I plugged the printer in and it worked very well. I know not what was wrong with it exactly, but it seemed to fix it

  I have problems printing black and yellow of my Photosmart HP 5520. I ran head clean process repeatedly wait between cleanings and it still does not print. Black print cartridge is brand new and yellow is half full. I've been on the link which when black and other color does not print and still no luck.   When I used to print from my iPad via AirPrint on both sides on my printer HP Photosmart 5520, it used to print, so that you may browse on the long side. For some reason, it changed to printing, so it switches to the short side.

  How can I change by flipping on the long side?

  My son has discovered a fix for this problem. We have now tried on three iPads and whenever he has set.
  The solution is to disable double-sided printing in the options when you are about to print a document and then turn it back on.
  After that the only time anything printed duplex will be sharp long printed not short edge.
  It is not a rocker, I can't get my iPad to print double-sided on the short side now (not that I want to), for some reason once you turned two-sided printing off and on again, long-back becomes the permanent default.
  Weird!

  I have a MacBook Pro with HP Easy Scan download and a HP Photosmart 5520. This is what works for me.

  1. start or restart 5520.

  2. place the point on the scanner and click the HP Easy Scan.

  3. follow the instructions.

  So far, he has work, but don't rest on that, Get HP. your stuff just with OS Sierra, 10.12.
