HP 625 graphics card died

Graphics card (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200) on my laptop has stopped working and I was wondering can I do to fix it-maybe I should replace or complement specific motherboard? And if it is the case, what would be the price?

Hello

No, you can't replace the graphics card.

The video chip is integrated into the motherboard, and the entire motherboard must be replaced by another.

The attendant costs to do such a thing may exceed the cost of buying a new laptop with the desired video solution.

This is the profile for motherboard for you to note:
Kit spare parts of the Council system include thermal replacement material - motherboard with UMA and RTC battery RS880M chipset graphics card (replacement part number: 611803-001).

Here is the service guide for your product: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02585536.pdf

Here are a few online stores that I could find:

  • HP Pavilion DV9700t - re-use of parts, any ideas? (the graphics card died)

    Hello

I have a HP dv9700 4.5 years, who is now dead because of the board (Nvidia) of graphics about me dying and so I try to re use parts. I removed the Lightscribe optical drive and mounted in a new external use via USB. I removed the HDD of 250 GB and rose in a USB3 SATA external enclosure to use as a portable HARD drive.  Are there other ideas to re use elements of this laptop died, so that I can get maximum recovery of him? I try only to get what I can of parts that are not damaged or dead (I have spent more than $1,400 on this laptop custom and realize that I spent too much on an element of a usual duration of what, 2 years? My new laptop that I just got, was adapted by me to a much lower $ 700 price because I kept in mind the life expectancy, this time).

Thanks for all the ideas, Debra

The motherboard at this stage is not a recovery option.

You already recovered the HARD and the ODD disc.

Those are the two elements that you could get as much use of. You can remove the PCIe mini wifi module, it uses, but it may not work in other books... some work with specific cards.

However, you can except for the keyboard and the LCD because there might be someone out there who has need of these pieces (provided that they are functional and intact in the original edition). If you want to do this, you can use the steps in this guide to remove them if you are uncomfortable with this process.

If you have a portable computer that uses the same parts, then you could keep it as spare parts if you need in the future.

  • Qosmio X 870-112 3D - Nvidia graphics card DIED

I bought the Toshiba Qosmio 2 years and after using it only for work

I decided to take advantage of its potential for the game. I installed an old game of 2006, and after 10 days, the video card is dead. I have my own electronics laboratory, I opened the computer, clean, replace the dough thermoconductrice and monitored electronic temperature thermocouples professional.

There is no problem of overheating, but the video card is dead, it must be replaced. "A very common problem, unfortunately the NVIDIA video cards, requiring a GPU reballing or complete replacement."

Where can I find the replacement of a video card? Anyone know who to contact?
Toshiba has disappointed me, I paid 2,500 euros for this computer with its hard disk and the ram upgrade and after 2 years is no longer a value of what it is.

This question is very unfortunate and I understand you very well.
I think it was simply bad luck that this problem occurred after the expiration of the warranty.

But in my opinion a hardware malfunction can still happen and it doesn t depend on model laptop or notebook computer from the manufacturer.

In case of malfunctioning of the equipment, the Toshiba certified maintainer is the first contact point if it comes to fix the laptop or to order new parts.

But the new GPU or motherboard can be a very costly affair and I recommend asking for the estimation of costs.

    Wolfie77, welcome to the forum.

It becomes extremely difficult to recommend new cards video for older computers.  Latest maps need UEFI in the motherboard instead of a standard BIOS.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-Octoeber, 2012.  I suggest you find the video card that you like and contact Technical Support from the manufacturer to help choose the best card for your needs that will work with your motherboard.  I know that MSI makes a card equipped with a switch so that it can work with legacy BIOS and UEFI' are.  The seller will pay for the shipping for you, but you pay for the shipping to them if the map does not work.  I do not spend money for something that does not benefit me.  I never buy components without talking to a Technical Support for the product.

  • H8-1214: h8-1214 graphics card update

My h8-1214 starts to get a little old. The graphics card died a few months back and a friend gave me an old (even lower than the original spec) just to make it back to work again. Not long after the hard drive has failed too so I replaced which and also, I needed to put a new operating system on the drive I upgraded from the original windows 7 to 8.1. The problem is windows 8 don't like the really old graphics card. so I took the plunge one ordered a new one. I also had a new power supply, I have read that the original could not deal with any updates. The problem I have is I got the card is a Radeon R7 250 X http://www.powercolor.com/US/products_features.asp?id=528 doesn't seem to work with the system. Ive put the old back in and that works so I know Ive got all the power supply very well hung upward and that his problem with the card. Ive spent a little time to try to find answers and have read a few things about the compatibility of UEFI, but everything I find seems quite vague and I can't find a clear answer on what is or is not compatible, what can be done about it. Im hoping that someone could help me with, it is if the h8-1214 can use a Radeon R7 250 X? If there is a problem of compatibility UEFI is there something that I can update to make it work as the driver of the motherboard or even a bios update? If it cannot be implemented should I consider getting an old low spec graphics card or should I think about a motherboard more up-to-date, which is consistent with recent material? If this is the best option is it any particular reccomendation for most recent advice that I can put the FX-6100 in?

Thanks in advance for any help

    Hello

All Sapphire R7 250 graphics cards that are listed on the Sapphire worksheet indicates that all of these cards are not active UEFI.  You need a power of 500 watts.

  • Necessary activation after the failure of the graphics card

    Hello.

My graphics card died an hour ago and I am currently using the integrated graphics chip. Windows 7 indicates now that activation is required which seems quite odd. My problem is that I can't get a new card until I return to my office in 5 days.

So my question is. I have to go through this again when I get the new card. IE I have to do it twice?

    See you soon

Update. Office 2013 now tells me that I need to reactivate it. If I put the dead card back at will, it stops the request?

    Hello

I am happy that the problem has been resolved itself.

Please post back if you have other Windows problems and we will be happy to help you further.

  • Graphics card is dying

    Hello forums HP,.

5 years ago, I bought a desktop computer (Windows 7 x 64, Phenom II x 6 1045 t processor software) HP of your site. The graphics (GeForce GT 420) is dying and has been dying since the beginning of this year. I'd be surprised if it lasted until the end of this year. I was wondering, even though my warranty expired a few years ago, will be HP hook me up with a new graphics card (same or different, whatever), for a discount or something? Or if I completely buy a new graphics card at any price elsewhere?

    -Timothy Joynt

Then your PC model number is not given, generically should be able to accept a different video card.  Just, do not choose a card that requires change, unless you are willing to do it, too.

You can buy in a regular retail store, it does not need to be HP.

  • Problem of graphics card on Satellite P20 552 & Qosmio G10

    Hallo,

    I have two 17-inch monitors computers laptop Toshiba as desktop replacement: 1 x Satellite P20 552 & 1 x Qosmio G10.
Both are dead graphics card problem.
The conclusion of my research on the WEB, it's the nVidia FX Go5700 card seems to be the weak point of these laptops.

On the Satellite Map dies slowly: during startup Toshiba logo disappeared but WinXP logo was very good load, then WinXP loaded with the screen not refreshing and the problem of synchronization, etc..
The Qosmio died suddenly: activities on the hard drive I guess load WinXP, but black screen (internal and external)!

I know that, unlike the desktop computer, the graphics processor is not a separate entity; It is built into the motherboard. My questions are:

    (1) who should be blamed, Toshiba or Nvidia?
    (2) how to prevent premature rupture of the card/motherboard?
    (3) the card/motherboard could be repaired?

    Hallo

I have red Satellite P20 304 and it still works well. Maybe you can offer this story to someone else, but I can say that Satellite P20 is great for laptop. I like it. Old, but still has an attractive design.
If you have no luck I can understand it but to talk in general and write about weakness is for me nothing more than absurd.

Nice questions here especially one. :)
1 - to blame someone will help any. Try to get the replacement and get it working again.
    2. There is nothing you can do. All you can do is to take care of the use of the laptop and do not overheat.
    3. as far as I know that something like this is not possible. In this case the motherboard will be replaced.

What you can do is to check eBay from time to time. You may be lucky and you can buy used motherboard for a good price and exchange it.

  • C55 satellite: graphics card stopped working and recovered

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite C55 and for some reason any for the last few weeks whenever I turn on the laptop screen is black. It then displays a message that the graphics card has stopped working, but he has found - and it is every time I turn it on.

    So should I worry?

I had to buy this laptop because the graphics card on my last died.
    So I'm a little paranoid.

I would like to add that this began after I installed Batman Arkham City
I don't know if there is a relationship.

    When this error occurs exactly?
It is not all game, running applications or only when the laptop starts the system?

From my experience, the error message occurs because the graphics card driver crashed.
    Why it crashed?
Not easy to say Hmm why it might be possible that there is a compatibility issue between the game and the pilot.
But sometimes this error may appear because of the highest GPU temperature.

  • BLAC kscreen after windows - broken graphics card logo?

    Model: HP Notebook PC G62-b41EO
    Product: XX509EA

Windows 7 Ultimate (initially Windows 7 Home Premium)

When you edit a video for YouTube, I got a blue screen and my laptop closed. When I restarted everything was normal, until Windows has loaded, and after that everything went black.

I'm almost certain that it is a problem of graphics card:

    * When I turn off the graphics driver in Windows Device Manager I can start the computer normally.
    * In Device Manager, I get an error message on the GPU, saying he could not start because it is not working properly.

The graphics card is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 (switchable)

I've tried several things, nothing worked:

    * Graphics driver update
    * Did a restore of the system, the operating system reinstalled
    * A system check in boot options
    * Did a hard reset
    * Connected to an external monitor, this caused another blue screen.

My guess is that the graphics card has just had enough and died. My 1 year warranty is over. What can I do?

The only solution is a new motherboard or motherboard to repair.

This ebay seller is an example of services that are out there. You can save a little if you can remove the motherboard from the chassis:

  • Satellite P100-434 - graphics card gone will be the motherboard replaced?

    Hello!

Last night, on my laptop screen went black on reboot, but the rest of the laptop seems to load very well. First of all, I thought it was the light back who had died, but an external monitor did not work either, so my son thinks that the graphics card is dead.

The laptop is almost three years, but, fortunately, it is still under an extended warranty. My question is, repair the laptop, no doubt, replace the motherboard or is not cost-effective and that they will give me a new laptop? Also, how time Toshiba take to repair laptops under warranty?

    Thank you for everything hep.

    Emily

    Hello

Of course, if the graphics card is faulty, you will get a new mainboard, and due to the extended warranty, it will be free for you. You will not get a new laptop, only the motherboard will be exchanged I think because it s cheaper as a new laptop and Satellite P100 is pretty portable. ;)

I think that no one can say how long the repair takes to your laptop. It's always different and depending on the availability of spare parts. Therefore, you should ask the authorized service provider. They can tell you more.

But I have to say on my laptop, that the motherboard was also exchanged the ASP. Repair didn t take much time, as far as I know it was only a few days. Nice service and the technician are cool people. :)

  • Compaq Presario CQ57 - 411TU CPU processor or graphics card update

I was wondering if I could upgrade graphics card or my CPU processor. It seems that a lot of games I play on this shift of mobile as hell, so I was wondering if I could spend an of these. Thank you. FYI its games as COD hanging like hell and some games that need changed mipmap settings the graphics card cannot change a few pieces of the game is fuzzy (not to die of hunger).

CPU: Intel Celeron B815 clocked at 1.6 GHz

    Graphics card: GPU Intel(r) HD

There is not really a valid upgrade for you option. Has a Celeron processor models also have a motherboard which do no accept a Core (i3, i5, etc.), so you are stuck with maybe a little faster but still lame processor but nothing that will get you where you want to be. The video is a complete non-starter. There is no way in the world to do something with it. Your laptop is to make the work of the office and internet and your best bet is to sell and get something with a graphic power and treatment.

  • Satellite P100-187 - new graphics card update

Looks like my gfx on my laptop is dying. I can't enter windown with gfx drivers installed (black screen after the victory logo).
Can enter windows if I uninstall the drivers of gfx in safe mode.
By starting a few colors become pink and there are 2 vertical stripes of light on the screen (2cm wide, and is not disapere)

There's an MXM II on the motherboard to be able to replace the gfx with a nVidia GeForce 8600 M GT 512 MB DDR2 MXM II best or should I get a new Go 7600.

What worries me is if the laptop could get overheated with the 8600M GT.

    cordially Natal

    Hello

I'm not a computer genius, but maybe I can help you...

If you see these scratches even in the BIOS screen, then probably your graphics card is fried. If the glitches only occur under windows, then try to download the original graphic drivers for satellite P100-(shortmodelno) of: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU (if you don't know no short model of your laptop, you can learn it from Toshiba Tempro program) and then start windows in safe mode, uninstall graphics drivers after that restart windows, and install the drivers you downloaded. If it still does not work, try to reset your computer to factory by the recovery disc. And if you're still having problems, then I am afraid your computer may have a hardware failure and you would need to send it to repair.

Moreover, as long as you do not play video games or use any other application 3D for long periods Geforce 8600 M GT should not overheat your laptop.

    Hope that helps...

  • graphics cards double Office HP 500 - 205-t

I have a HP 500 - 205t with which I ordered an upgrade the dedicated video card.  The computer is around the age of six months. Now I find that I need two monitors. The dedicated adapter has only a single output. The integrated one has two. Is it possible to use two adapters at the same time? I hate wasting the adapter 'improved '. And, if possible, can I use three monitors? Thank you. Richard

Well, it seems that my memory is not as good as it once was. I did remove the graphics - NVIDIA GT 625 - upgrade by uninstalling the driver and then stop the machine. Not connected all the cables from the rear and he hoisted upward on a desk to disassemble. Imagine my surprise when I finally turned it around to discover that, in low-and-behold, the adapter has two ports!

Somehow, I never noticed (or simply forgotten) that there's also an HDMI port and more the DVI - D port. A quick check in the console of NVIDiA confirmed he would go to two monitors.

Lesson learned, for the umpteenth time. Always check things in multiple ways before giving up.

So the answer is: NO, you can't use both cards. BUT, you can always run two monitors with NVIDIA graphic card to the address being upgraded.
