HP 640 G1 Notebook - no way to disable the touchpad

Hey all,.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, at this point I'm not sure if its hardware or software.

Installation program:
Computer: Laptop HP G1 640
OS: Windows Professional x 64
With the help of HP image: No.

Description of the problem: First of all both plugged in at the mouse and touchpad works. I would like to disable the touchpad when typing. According to research Google and HP support the tablet should be disabled and enabled by the double tapping in the left hand top winder on cone of the touchpad. It does not work.

Diagnostics: So far I have updated the BIOS to 01.05. The firmware update entered ME Intel Management Engine () Firmware component 9.0.22.1467. These 2 were under the direction of the HP support.

Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver for the Synaptics TouchPad (International). I tried the 17.0.18.23 and the 17.0.18.17. These two fail with the following error below

Note:

  • After that I uninstalled and reinstall the Synaptics application does not return to the Add Remove Programs list.
  • In the Device Manager does not list the touchpad in the mouse and other pointing devices.
  • I refused HPs offers to have the touchpad replaced as it's not just 1 machine, its all 20 of them. It also works very well during normal use.

Any construtive help is appeciated.

I discovered it. Ended up being our antivirus prevents installation. I use Trend Micro Office scan.

I did a test not just unload the application that I uninstalled because I need to be updated in all cases.

  • No way to disable the touchpad on Satellite L450D - 11 X

I had my laptop Satellite L450D - 11 X, pre-installed with Windows 7 64-bit, since November and that you come to learn about the function key to turn off the touchpad - a very desirable feature. Unfortunately, pressing the combination of keys Fn + F9 does not work. There is a question answered - now closed - in this forum that advises to restore the laptop to its original configuration to address this problem, which I guess means running a HARD drive recovery procedure and restore the application software - not a trivial task. I took a chance and downloaded and installed the driver for the TouchPad Synaptics Windows 7 x 64. He has a facility to disable the touchpad in the mouse properties window, that works.

I became aware of the ability to disable the touchpad keys during the installation of new Acer laptop from a friend, who has a button next to the touchpad to market. Come the day where all laptop has such a change a lot of laptop users will be happy, judging by the number of people, I fell on the web looking for a way to disable the touchpad keys, especially when entering.

I would prefer if the L450D key combination worked, however. Does anyone know how to do this without a HARD drive recovery? Some of my other function keys are also "broken." Not vital, but I don't hate things that don't work as specified.

What you need to do is to reinstall the package of added value. You can find it on the download page of Toshiba. This package contains several tools and one of them is utility (command buttons FN) flash cards. Remove VAP preinstalled system, restart your computer and install the latest version of the Toshiba support page.

To say, this little button is also available on some models of Toshiba. If I remember well, it must be available on A500 and U500. Maybe also on some other new models of laptops.

  • No way to disable the touchpad on the Satellite A350 - 208 (PSAL6E)

I have an A350-208 (PSAL6E) with windows 7 Pro 64 bit NL. I have a Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 installed Bluetooth mouse. It works very well. But every time I work on my laptop I seem to touch my touchpad by accident, or pressure on the keyboard and then my cursor is going to suddenly somewhere else in senctence en I'm typing complete garbage. It's something that I had resolved in XP by disabling the touchpad. But now, on windows 7 there is no tot so possebillity.

Please can someone help me to disable the touchpad?

Type this little piece of text takes me a lot longer while my cursor place whenever I type to another location in the words.

Win7 works perfectly on this laptop model, and if you have installed all the controls, including utility flash cards you should be able to disable the touch pad using the FN + F9 key combination.
    Can you do this?

  • HP Pavilion 17 Notebook PC: can't disable the touchpad / click from installing windows 10

I am able to disable the keypad to click in the settings, but as soon as the computer goes to sleep or restarts the cushion click is activated. I prefer to use a mouse via USB. How to make the adjustment remains permanently until I want to activate the key again.  The computer indicates that the driver is up-to-date. I tried to go back to the old driver, which didn't help. As soon as windows can be delivered the internal keyboard is on again once. This has happened only since installing windows 10. I hope that I did not need to return to windows 8 to solve this problem.

    Hello

I would like to inform that Microsoft have released patches to update to solve problems related to the touchpad. I suggest to go ahead and run Windows updates and check if it helps to solve the problem. Also run the HP support assistant software to check the updates from HP do you driver.
If the steps above don't help you.

    Try the following
    Open regedit.exe
    Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Install
Note it's the LOCAL MACHINE, not the CURRENT USER.
Search for a key in the installation folder called DeleteUserSettingsOnUpgrade
Double click and change the value to 0

Now go back in the Panel of Synaptics, put all how you like and restart.  See if it keeps the settings.

If it is not difficulty, navigate to the Device Manager and go to 'Mouse and other pointing devices' right click on the synaptics driver and go to properties and under the driver tab control if you can 'dismantling' of the driver.

  • Is there a way to disable the function where firefox opens a new tab when you scroll a click in the header bar?

Is there a way to disable the function where firefox opens a new tab when you scroll a click in the header bar? This feature in conflict with my program of multiple monitors (display fusion) since this program allows you to change your current active window the monitor 1 monitor 2 and vice versa BY clicking the header of BAR SCROLLING (or whatever you call the highest part of your window). With firefox, I can't easily change my active window between monitors because instead, it opens a new tab.

If the window is maximized, you can then switch this pref to disable the display of the tabs in the title bar:

    • browser.tabs.drawInTitlebar = false

You can open the topic: config page via the address bar.
You can accept the warning and click on "I'll be careful" to continue.

When I zoomed in on a website, the other tabs with the same zoom area too; is there a way to disable the page Web site global zoom?

You can change the zoom to be specific tab instead of in-situ.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the filter box, type or paste the zoom and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.zoom.siteSpecific from true to false.

Is there a way to disable the incognito in safari? I would like to be able to see all of this Web site my children visit their account and in mine.

The only way I could find requires a hack, and I would never recommend people do.  You never know what could go wrong if you do, and there is sometimes no way to go back or cancel the hack without having to reinstall the operating system, as Safari can not be uninstalled.

    Hello OTMarty,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers community.

What version of XP are you using? If you use professional or higher, you can use gpedit.msc to deactivate access to view, however you will lose access to it in all accounts except if you select a second time to make changes.

    Your administor account using:

    -Click on Start

    -Click on Run
    -Type gpedit.msc

    - -Click OK

    Group Policy Editor opens

In the left pane, click User Configuration .
From the right pane double-click Administrative Templates, double-click Control Panel

    - , Double-click Hide specified control panel applets

    -Select the radio Enable button
-In the window below and click Show , and the POPs Show content
-Click Add on the right and Add a window
    - Display type, and then click OK

    -Click OK again
    -Close the Group Policy Editor

Display is now disabled. However, remember to turn off your policy when you change your display properties, and then turn on again in the Group Policy Editor.
