[HP 840 G1: bios]

I was just looking at the HP support center web site check the updates to the BIOS and noticed that for the G1 of 840 HP there is a customer advisory - ' Advisory: computers HP - HP (BCU) BIOS Configuration utility may fail without error; Can create output files empty or truncated. "

The current BIOS on the laptop is 1.20 reverend a. December 15, 2014. The most recent version on the site of HP's 1.31 Rev. March 31, 2015.

This notice will notice affect my current computer with the old BIOS version?

Thank you.

The link is for the new software of the BCU and solves the problem mentioned, if you don't know what software BCU is for so I wouldn't worrry thereon, it is just software to manipulate the bios settings then under Windows, which can be dangerous if you don't know exactly what you are doing.

  • HP 840 G1: update the BIOS

    Have a HP 840 G1 about a year - provided with Windows 7 preinstalled.

Upgrade to Windows 10 in early January and had a number of problems (instability, no sound, etc).

Did a clean recovery, re-installing Windows 10 using the Windows Recovery feature and delete some files from the user to get the cleanest version.

Seems to be running very well so would load my files and other software but tune gave me a few updates, including the 01.35Ap1 of SP74659 Version of the BIOS upgrade.  Trying to finish the upgrade but I received a message upgrade installation ahd failed - could stop and start normally again. I just checked my BIOS level and it shows L71 worms 01.20. However, HP has the latest version of the BIOS as 01.35.Rev.A which seems a lot more recent than the 1.20 that I apparently.

Given my limited technical skills, have I missed something or can I safely download and try to install 01.35.Rev.A

    Thanks in advance

    @DJS10

This update is for Intel VBIOS.

The VBIOS provides a set of graphical functions that are used by programs to access the video hardware. The graphics controller built into the Chipset Intel® is an example of the video material.

You can try to update manually here.

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?sp4ts.Oid=5405097&swItemId=ob_160587_1&swEnvOid=4192#tab2

It is the recommendation of Intel.

You don't need to update your VBIOS if you do not experience a graphics issue with your computer.

Here are a few reasons why you can update your VBIOS:

    • To solve a problem of graphics (for example, visual corruption when playing a new game, an error reported by the Windows operating system * which is linked to the video BIOS, etc.)
    • Recommendation of the manufacturer of your computer
    • Recommendation of an Intel customer support agent

  • G3 850: 850 g3 BIOS beep

The G3 850 has a VERY ANNOYING BEEP when it is in the BIOS configuration screen. Beeps of confirmation for various actions such as an Apple] [+ did in 1979. Really of HP? REALLY? Beep has been boring so, its twice as annoying now! There is no apparent way to disable this BEEP irritating in the BIOS.

If please DO AWAY with this darn unnecessary NOISE in the next version of BIOS and don't do that again!

Its bad enough that Apple brought back the "Chicklet" keyboard, and everyone - including HP - is to copy them. Chicklet keyboard was a bad idea in 1983 and is a bad idea - as this cursed three times BEEP!

On the G3 840 there is certainly an option to disable the BIOS beeps as I did - on the top of my head, I don't remember exactly what it's called, but I think it can be turn on/off the audio alerts at startup?

  • Satellite L510 - PC Health Monitor - could not get the Type of Bios

    Hi guys,.

I m appeal for some help and hope that some of you experts out there may be able to help me!

My laptop is a Satellite L510 bought November 2009
    Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 32-bit
The version of the BIOS/Date: INSYDE, 1.30, 08/05/2009

    Problems:
1 ReelTime (worm: 1.0.04.0) TC00210100H stopped working about 6 months ago, so I uninstalled it.
    2 PC Health Monitor (worm: 1.4.0.0) TC00148300O

Value Added Package: Worm: 1.2.25 (TC00214700E)

For a couple of weeks stop would take a little longer than before and last weekend he just stopped even if the battery is fully charged.

I had a bit of a job to resume but I finally did, I came to the conclusion even if the hard drive was not.

I then tried to open the PC Health Monitor, but this error appeared impossible to get the type of bios and obviously wouldn t open. I uninstalled PCHM programs and features and then ran TC00148300O.exe of
C:/Program Files / Toshiba / TOSAPINS / COMPS1 / TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor - 1.4.0.0, it seemed something was going on but ultimately nothing has.

I dropped while I needed to sort first on the hard drive. Long story short, the hard drive has been replaced by a SSD 840 EVO 250 GB by a friend of TI at work.

I prefer like to get ReelTime and PCHM working again correctly troubleshooting (with your help) that I put t really want to restore back provided that the factory, but if I have to...

If I have explicit instructions on how to do that would be a big help (if necessary I can also get my friend to help me).

If I n t give any other specific information that you need please ask. I apologize for this long post, but thanks to anyone who responds.

    Hello

If you replaced the HARD drive I recommend you to install original recovery image and start using your machine with the factory settings. After that it all will again be OK. Install important Windows updates current, your important software and I think that everything will be OK again.

Software related questions can sometimes be very complicated. All you can try to do is remove pre-installed application, restart the computer and try to install it again.

On BIOS I can just say that you shouldn't change anything.

One last thing: I don t know how important ReelTime and PC Health Monitor are for you, but I removed the two applications on my system. In my opinion there is no much help from both of them, but they CPU utilization for the unnecessary process.
