HP Battery Check: - Unknown state (94)

Hello.

I wanted to run the HP Battery Check to know how was my battery. But it does not recognize my battery.

My battery seems to be getting worse lately, and it does it not take a charge as long as it used to do.

I downloaded the latest HP Support Assistant (5.1.10.7), and like I said. It does not recognize my battery.

Bright ideas?

Edit:

Hello

First, stop the laptop, unplug the AC adapter unplugged, remove the battery and then press and hold the power button for a minute.

Now, plug in the AC adapter without the battery inserted, start Notepad, open windows control panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for the battery, on the right, click on and compatible Microsoft ACPI control method battery and select Uninstall - do uninstall not something else here.  When the uninstall is complete, shut down the PC, unplug the AC adapter, reinsert the battery and then start the PC on just the battery.  Windows will automatically reinstall the driver - leave Windows running for a few minutes. Shut down the PC again.  Now plug the power adapter (with the inserted battery always) and start Notepad.

Then download, install and run the latest version of the HP utility battery Check, on the link below.

FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp49001-49500/sp49129.exe

Does this work properly and if it indicates no fault with the battery?

Best wishes

HP dv4-2165dx running Windows 7 64 bit with Support Assistant 5.2.9.2 and battery check 4.0.16.0

Battery status says 'unknown', with the 100% battery charge.  Battery seems to work very well, but not checking the battery does not seem to be able to connect to it.

When you run the battery check, it returns

    Status: Unknown (90)

    The long description is:

    Main battery

An error occurred trying to access the battery.  Please re-insert the battery and the power adapter for a new test of the battery.

The suggestion is to turn it off, replace the battery and AC power, I did several times.  I also followed the procedures outlined in another post about a battery check status unknown (94)... but no change.

How can I correct this condition such that I can get a battery status check valid, like 'OK', 'Calibrate', 'Replace', etc.

Is there a * easy * way to clean the battery contacts?

Note: Diagnostics of HP you can run before Windows (tube exhaust when starting) indicate that the battery is "defective", perhaps because the diagnosis can also access chip smart battery.

There is no other assignments by mentioning the battery... check (90) advanced status code just to code (94) elsewhere.

    Thanks for your help.

    Found the solution!

There is a new version of firmware, version F.0F (appears as 'F' to the poster information) which is available in the download section software.  Version F.0F is documented as the resolution of a problem with checking Service Advisor 5.x and battery.

I downloaded the firmware update, installed and then re-directed to battery check.  Now I have a proper status, with detailed battery status is displayed.  In my case, the battery is about 2 years old and needs to be calibrated.  But I now have a status legitimate and can go through the calibration process.

Note: I use Advisior of Service 5.2.9.2 and says there is no update additional software that apply... .but Advisior Service missing update of Firmware and will not download and install it.

According to the notice of Release Firmware, this firmware version applies to several laptop models.

After I calibrate my battery, I'll try running battery check and start diagnostics.  Diagnostics boot time also scored as battery being defective in the past... with the older firmware.

I'll post my results once completed.

    Hope this helps someone.

  • Two servers showing the unknown state

    Running Openmanage essentials 2.0.0.1926

Two of my servers already both happy now show white feared to question mark.

    Both are monitored by SNMP.

Running the SNMP troubleshooting tool on OME reports two of them as happy and able to communicate. Other servers in the same group of discovery are very good.

Both servers are running openmanage 7.4.0 and are supported.

Any ideas where to go from here?

Very well. Thank you for this confirmation.

    Two questions:

    • Have you discovered only the server, or the server, and the CARS together? If you discover server and RAC, both then please discover separately to check the State of health returned.
    • Can you try to remove the device from the devices tree and then make a rediscovery to check what is happening?
    • You see the applaunch for OMSA to these servers appears as unknown? You can try to launch OMSA and check what is the State of health that appears on the GUI of the OMSA?
  • «Battery probe 0 (map system CMOS battery) is unknown to reading»

We just had a service call on a Dell Poweredge R720 to replace a food which has become unusable after doing an update of the firmware of the life cycle of the Controller Firmware that has gone wrong for updating the firmware of power slot.

Once the new PSU has been installed, the error on the console indicator went from orange to blue and the server does not work correctly.  No show error in OMSA.

However, I use the plugin Open_Manager for Nagios/Icinga to monitor my Dell servers, and it shows an error on the R720:

«Battery probe 0 (map system CMOS battery) is unknown to reading»

Is there a way I can clear this error (especially without going through another service call)?

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    Hello

You referred to a recent update of lifecycle controller, the package to update your firmware update iDRAC as well, if it is at version 2.10.10.10 that this is not a problem with the CMOS battery.

    Question:

For 12 or 13G with firmware iDRAC 2.10.10.10 version or later, the State of the battery CMOS in OMSA may appear as 'unknown '.

    Why this happens:

With the firmware of the IDRAC 2.10.10.10 changed the resolution SNMP. So the State of the battery cannot be resolved by the OMSA 7.x correctly.

    Solution:

Update OMSA version 8.1 or later.

I advise to use the iDRAC to obtain a status of real / live from the CMOS battery.  iDRAC-> overview-> hardware-> batteries.

Yes, I downloaded and installed the BIOS and chipset drivers and followed by the shutdown sequence.  It's the job niow.  I called Technical Support and learned that the battery does not load when it reaches a certain percentile because the computer recognizes it has a good charge.  When it is less than 95% fresh or so, it will load.  Mine does not work correctly.  Appreciate your help, I wasn't aware of this design feature before now.  Overall it was a good exercise.

You should have the HP Support Assistant installed on your laptop.  It has got a built-in battery test utility that will allow you to know the operational status of your internal battery.

You can access it by clicking on HP Support Assistant-> by clicking the Troubleshooting tab-> click power, thermal and mechanical tab, then click the icon to launch the battery check.

    Hi Liam

Hmmm... I think it s not a Council but the battery of the CCF.
Take a look in the user manual. There you should find something that exactly the message is displayed if the battery RTC (BIOS) is not charged.

The RTC battery, you must connect the power adapter and should run the laptop for about 24 hours.
After that the main battery has been charged, then the RTC battery starts to load.

It will take a little longer.

  • Phone CUCM unknown state

In cucm 8.6 (2), when I see the State of a phone as unknown that used to be recorded at the CUCM but has been disconnected, how long from the time of cut until the phone display as unknown?  Is there a timer or is it an a system restart, etc.?  We are trying to clean up abandoned entered in the CUCM and may not want to not remove a phone of a person who is on vacation, leave, illness or any other reason, the phone can be turned off but must always be kept on the system.

    Terry

A phone will instantly become quite 'unknown', it's certainly NOT restart dependent.

To specifically answer your question, there is no quick and easy way to find out that if users have unplugged their phone because they are on Cochran, there is no such thing. My question is why would you?

What I would do is change the MAC addresses of these phones that are unknown and give them a meaningful description (as the real MAC address and desknumber). by all means not to remove the system so that it is just a person to report their phone is not registered, you can restore it easily by changing the dummy back.

This way you can leave the dummy addresses in CUCM for a certain period of time, before permanently delete.

Otherwise I can't see a medium fiull of evidence.

  • IDE channel - check the State DMA/PIO

    Hello

I tried to check the DMA/PIO State of my system, but I couldn't find something that mentions primary/secondary channel under "controllers IDE ATA/ATAPI" in Device Manager. From what I've read in various forums, it is the way to do it, and I also noticed that a few people could not find the ' primary/secondary way' thing as well. (but I could not find a solution to the issue)

My problem is that some USB ports (2 of 4) I used normally would slow when I transfer data to and from the external HARD drive. Now, I've been move to the other 2 USB ports, and I could see the difference in the rate of transfer. This has happened before with my XP system, but I was able to access the channel primary/secondary and turned them all to DMA, which is something that I can't do now with my other Vista system. So now I would really check on that, and I need help to make...

    My system:
Windows Vista (updated with all the Windows update)
    Intel Core 2 Duo P9600 2.67 GHz
    4 GB OF RAM
nVidia GeForce GTX 260-1 GB memory
    Realtek/Creative SoundBlaster
HARD drive 320 (which is good, it's almost full, leaving about 20 GB of free space, but the problem that I mentioned above happened when I had still 60 GB of free space, as a few months ago)

It would be great if someone can help me to brighten my days here. I'm not a geek, but certainly not an illiterate as well.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi PC45,.

In case you can't find primary/secondary channel under "controllers IDE ATA/ATAPI" in Device Manager, you can try to expand IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and check for ATA channel 0 or right-click on it and click Properties. Later, click on the tab for setting advance, check if you can see the status of the DMA mode.

Because you are connected to the USB and the data transfer rate is slow, and it works fine when connected to a different USB port, I suggest you to update the USB drivers on the motherboard manufacturer's website.

You can also navigate to the link below and follow the steps to update the drivers on your computer.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

Also, if you have any security software installed on your computer, you can try to temporarily disable and check if the date transfer rate is better. If you find the security software, the origin of the problem, you can contact the manufacturer of security software and check if there is no parameter to be changed. Later, re-enable the security software.

I hope this helps. Let us know the status.

    Thank you and best regards,
