HP: Bootmgr

Hi I tried to clean my laptop to factory.  Everything seemed to go well until a message: BOOTMGR, press alt del cl.  But nothing happened.  I don't have any disk.  What do you think is wrong?  Would it be the hard drive problem or a Windows memory problem? Thank you

    Hi guy,

First of all, I have a good message for you: this is not a very serious matter and could be solved easily.
I guess you cannot start the advanced boot menu by pressing F8. Fix?
If this is not possible you need a Live example Windows PE or BartPE bootable CD
    http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/

Start the laptop using the Live CD will allow you to use the command prompt where you can run some commands to rebuild the Master Boot Record.
Using the prompt (like a black of BACK box) shows you should type this command:
    Bootrec /RebuildBcdand then press ENTER.

Usually this should rebuild the master boot record of the hard drive and the laptop should start again the internal partition of C.

  • Portege M300 - Ubuntu, bootmgr error

    Hi guys,.

I hope you can help, I spent 2 days reading similar posts, but nothing seems to work.

I installed Ubuntu on an external hard drive (using my Vista machine). Can I boot Ubuntu from my Vista machine without any problem.

However, I now want to use this hard drive Ubuntu in my new NetBook (for me). (Toshiba, Portege, M300). However when I install my Ubuntu HD in this machine I get the infamous error "bootmgr is missing". I REALLY hate this error now.

So I did my research and give EACH of them thinking that I should use my Vista recovery DVDs for this problem. Why the hell do I need to use a Vista CD when it comes to pure Ubuntu installation?

Can someone give me some ideas? Computers laptop Toshiba require Bootmgr (i.e. an installation of windows?)

    Please PLEASE help,
    Marc

    PS thanks in advance...

You don't need a special boot manager, Linux should start very well after a successful installation.

Did you delete all partitions on the HARD disk before you install Linux?

It seems that the Windows boot sector is still installed.

  • BOOTMGR missing Satellite C660

    Hi people,

    I have the Satellite C660
Initially, I had a virus and tried to reinstall windows, but not good.
When it came to the point of saying there was not enough space on the windows installation disc,
I realized that I had forgotten the bit score.

Now when I try to start it again, it's a black screen that says... BOOTMGR... Manager of... is absent.
When I try to start again, I get the same point on not enough space on the disk
so im going round in circles and not getting any case,

I think to make a new hard drive, but no one knows how to fix this before I have to buy a new drive... has soon

Missing Boot Manager is an error message that is displayed if the laptop can not find and start the common system.
Therefore, find the reason why the system cannot be found.
I think that its HARD drive problem. The system partition or HARD drive is probably faulty.

In my opinion, you should access the BIOS and check if the HARD drive is listed on the first page of the BIOS.
In case it does not appear in the first page of the BIOS, the HDD isn't recognized and, therefore, I think that it must replace it before you try to reinstall the system.

  • Satellite Pro C650 - BOOTMGR is missing

    Hey guys,.

I bought this laptop about a week ago, and he's already giving me grief.

First, it started with BSOD nonstop with various errors, for example driver_irql_less_or_not_equal and system_service_exception being the most repeated of the two.

I've updated all the drivers, I have between the BSOD - but gave up and decided to just a new reinstall due to not having anything important saved on the HARD drive at the moment.

Install went fine - until just before that initial installation was complete - BSOD happens again with a BIOS error this time.

After the reboot of the machine - I get BOOTMGR is missing, press CTRL + ALT + DELETE to restart.

Restart, brings you to an endless loop.

Entered boot options and booted from the CD player with the recovery disk, when the windows startup repair claims the problem is resolved and the machine will reboot.

Once it restarted (AGAIN) I always get that BOOTMGR is missing, press CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart error.

The start I tried again - CD player, but it stalls three quarters the way through.

I am literally pulling my hair out frustrated now - any ideas what I can do from here?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

In my logic one step for you opinion is clean OS installation again.

Please make and wait until the installation of the OS will be complete. Configure the operating system and try to use it for awhile without installing any additional software. Install Microsoft updates only. Please disable the automatic installation of update and choose the option check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them.

When the updates are available to install important updates only. Do not install the optional updates, especially not driver updates.

Please send any comments that you did exactly.

This is a typical mistake that can happen to change the size of the partition. I advise you to reinstall the operating system by using a recovery disk.

    Hello

In my opinion, this message if poster because the laptop does not boot from optical disc, but tried to boot from the HARD drive.
Are you sure that you booted from the CD/DVD drive?

In case you are sure that the laptop started from the disk recovery inserted, then in my opinion the new ordered 100% the drive is faulty. You must contact the provider and replace the drive

    Hello

I recently bought my L300D - 12 laptop computer in a store Staples close to me (for use at the University). After about 4 months of use, the system seems slow, and yesterday, my laptop started giving me the BSOD messages whenever I tried to boot up the laptop and have to restart.

So my problem is this, my laptop is now free of my files as I have carefully their saved with the storage devices removable mass via a defective safe mode; I have used the disk recovery... but clarification, I think I should list step by step what happens when I use the disk...

    Hello

    This error is interesting:
    > ERROR: no BCD on two or a partition!
    > Press any key to continue

The BCd is the Vista bootloader which is necessary to load and start the Vista operating system.
It seems that it is not found and so Vista will not start.

The next error message saying: BOOTMGR is missing, press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart would confirm my hypothesis.

You said that your system slows down considerably.

Possibly the HARD drive is faulty. I have only this one explanation.
In your case, the warranty is valid, and I think you should ask the ASP in your country for assistance guys could check the HARD disk and other parts and could replace it.

    Good bye

    Hi Jaz70,

First of all, it would be interesting to know if another disc would work. Perhaps your CD/DVD drive doesn t work properly so she wouldn t read any type of disc.
    Check this box!

In addition, you can try to clean the disc or let's say the lens using a microfibre cloth. Sometimes it works

If you buy a Microsoft Windows disk it won't cost $500. ;)
These discs are not so expensive.

  • Satellite L510 - BOOTMGR is missing

    * sigh *.

So I got my password solved error and managed to get on the Vista desktop for the first time.
Well, he ran incredibly slow (like 45 minutes at startup). So I think that maybe something is corrupted so maybe I should just go ahead and reinstall everything from scratch.

So, I hold the F8 key at startup, go into System Recovery Options and choose to do a restore complete system, back to the factory settings.
2 minutes, I get an application error. The app makes me restart.

Now I'm stuck with "BOOTMGR is missing" A + C + D to turn it back on to get to the same point.

All I can find online is advice to enter the Installation of Vista disc. But I don't have one of those, I?

    * sigh *.

This whole process would have been a million times easier if Toshiba had indeed issued an installation with the system disk.

Anyone know how to get into WinRE on a Toshiba Sattelite?

    Hello

You didn t get the Vista disc and the Toshiba recovery disc.
Your laptop has been pre-installed with the Vista operating system and there was an option that allows you to recovery unit using the option of HARD drive recovery
There was also a preinstalled tool called creator Toshiba recovery disc.
This tool could be used to create a clean recovery disk.

But the fact is that if you want to repair the Vista Boot Manager, so you should use ONLY the MS Vista original disc and not the recovery disc.
MS Vista disc would repair the Boot Manager and the recovery disk would be to format the whole HARD drive and reinstall everything again

    That's the big difference.

    Hey,.

    > There was no CD that came with my computer, but I did a backup of the recovery discs when I turned on the laptop out of the area initially first although these discs do nothing?
This means that you have created the use Toshiba recovery media creator Toshiba Recovery disk or what did you do exactly?

This bootmgr error message means that the Windows Boot Manager is corrupt and that's why you need to reinstall Windows. You can do this with Toshiba Recovery disk which can restore the original settings of the case.

All you have to do is boot from the recovery disk and follow the instructions on the screen. All drivers and tools will be installed automatically.

    pls tell me SME suggestions

    Hello

The bootmgr missing error appears because the recovery procedure hasn t done and the former a bootmgr was destroyed.

It seems that your second DVD is not readable without apparent reason.

Maybe you could try to recover the laptop using the recovery of HARD drive option.
Maybe the partition was not damaged during the procedure of recovery DVD.

Then, press F8 after that laptop has been powered. Choose the first option called fix my computer. Choose the last option Toshiba Recovery and try to recover the laptop HARD drive.
If it doesn t work then you could boot from the original Vista DVD and could try to repair the boot manager.

In the worst cases, you need to reinstall the OS from Microsoft's Vista DVD or you order a new Recovery DVD from Toshiba.

    Good luck
