  Mr. Vijay gave you a link.  Everything I did was right click on the Setup files and says to install in compatibility mode with XP.  All functions for my printer works fine.  I made the mistake of trying to update the printer file and it stop working.  I had to completely remove the printer driver on the computer so that I could then reload the software.  After that it worked again.  This hope and Mr. Vijays advice solves your problem.

  As an alternative to the HP support site, you should be able to get the correct drivers from Windows Update. Using the devices and Printers' Add Printer, I was able to successfully add the HP 5 p to a system of Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

  1. Click Start or press on the then select devices and printers from the list on the right. When thedevices and printers windows opens and fills, click Add a printer among control options at the top.
  2. To open the Add Printer window, first select Add a local printer. Then select a port and click Next.
  3. In the next window, first click on the Windows Update button and wait a few minutes until the list is filled again. It will look like nothing is happening, but it's work. Once the lists are updated, select HP for the manufacturer and the HP LaserJet 5 p Printers.
  4. When you click Next must install the printer driver and you'll end up with the final test print screen.

  Thanks for your help. Given that my printer did not work well in Windows 7, I was looking for the right driver for Windows 8 and asked for help.   Sorry to hear about your luck with Dell inkjet printers. Lexmark to predict this Dell printer. As Lexmark came out of the printer business, finding solutions to these printers and drivers slowly fades. When shopping for a new printer, make sure that it has all the features you are looking for.

  I scan, copy and print often. I don't have a phone line, fax, so it's not a big problem. I have a printer Dell V715w, similar to your printer. I replaced the print head once and it worked flawlessly, until children are at the dry ink cartridges. If you print a lot, consider a Laser printer.
