HP Compaq 6370b: Clean partition Win 7 install question

My first post.

I have a laptop HP Compaq 6370b, S/N [number of Series edited by Moderator] running Win XP and plan on running a new install for Win 7 Pro 32 bit. I have upgraded the BIOS (as suggested by the forum) at F.20 on 16/12/2014 and reviewed messages on the partition for HP tools. My question is when I format the existing HHD I must add a partition for the HP tools? A response by Dragon fur message leads me to believe that the download and installation of HP tools UEFI create a folder on the operating system drive and I would not require an additional partition.  Thanks for your help.

Hello

Should uefi tools be installed on a separate FAT or Fat32 partition to work properly

When you download and run the UEFI software, the installer will give you the opportunity to automatically create the HP_TOOLS partition (if it does not already exist on the HARD disk) - for more details, see the "Prerequisites" topic on the following link.

    Call the manufacturer Compaq...
    1. ask a set of recovery disks. The overall cost is minimal. It is worth the money several times over.

    2. at the same time, ask to speak to a technician. Ask technology to teach you how to access the recovery of your computer partition and also how to use the restore system ypur partition.

Note: you will lose all files and programs that you have installed. Save them if you can. If this isn't the case, you will need to start over from scratch, after you restore the system.

  • When installing a new operating system isn't automatically wipe the hard disk, create a new partition, and then install the operating system?

Have a Dell system, caught a virus and it has really messed up the PC. Recently, it got worse so I tried to reinstall the operating system with the Dell disks. It wouldn't work. So I bought for Windows 7 Professional, it will not be installed. My first question when installing a new operating system isn't automatically wipe the hard disk, create a new partition, and then install the operating system? Because this does the same as the Dell disks, is to take what is on the hard drive and put it in a folder called windows old, is not formatting the HD. When I boot the disk, it shows the installation of files then open windows and start the installation. Before he could finish I get an error missing or corrupted files. Tried several times now, windows will still not open. Any suggestions? Once while trying to install the pc crashed with a blue screen which is one of the reasons why I have reinstall the OS, he started to plant a few times. I don't remember all the details on my PC, but its 4 years, triple core coprocessors, ram 8 GB, 500 GB HD. At the same time just after all this started in Jan. I had also improved my 3 GB to 8 GB memory. I bought the Dell memory for my system. Since the crash, could there be a problem with these new memory chips? Last night I tried to disassemble each and reinstalling it, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Before I tried to reinstall the operating system, the pc was see the concert 8.

Disconnect any other (additional) internal hard drives and external USB devices.
Look for any loose hard drive power or cables SATA, graphics card or other power cables.

    First run Memtest86 +:
It runs from a floppy disk or CD and should eliminate or confirm if one or more of your memory
sticks are bad or the values of the SPD in the BIOS are correct.
Let it run for as long as you can: 2,4,6,8 or several hours (at least 3 full passes), so no errors at that time then your ram is OK.

  • What are the size of partition recommended for installing Windows 7 Professional 64-bit?

What are the size of partition recommended for installing Windows 7 Professional 64-bit? I have a 2 TB internal hard drive and want to install Windows and Norton Internet Security on the drive C, drive D and drive E data programs.

    Thanks for a response.

Original title: size partition Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

For technical purposes, I recommend you only keep utilities all programs that you install on the startup disk. This is recommended if you plan to upgrade to future releases of Windows such as Windows 8 because you will experience problems with the installation program.

I recommend however, you can keep accumulated data such as Documents, Photos, music, videos on a separate partition to ensure custody.

The recommended size for the boot drive around things like Windows, future growth for applications and the Windows updates and program updates will be considered.

So I recommend not more than 200 GB, for a lot of space, I would shoot up to 300 if you want to keep things like System Restore Points.

  • Can I save a System Image, most anywhere and put it on a clean partition?

It looks like a System Image could solve a lot of problems for me. If I could take a snapshot or even two snapshots and then save it on an external hard drive. I could just delete all partitions and volumes, creating partitions and new volumes and then plug an external hard drive? Maybe I'd never have to look any further except for snapshots, I have taken, with regard to the recovery of my system?

I'm looking beyond all the countless problems that can occur at startup.

    Yours truly,

    Charles Sciple

    Hello

I have always used a 3rd party for this program... windows has not always had this ability and I have never tried.

I prefer to do it with a bootable CD... In this way, you're not trying to make an Image while windows is running. I am currently using Acronis image for this and have no complaints.

In a number of ways, it's better than anything else, I tried...

You even don't need to put it on a clean partition. Acronis will overwrite the old...

You are right in the idea that a picture can save a lot of grief, if something is wrong with windows. You can Image individual partitions or the whole disc.

I'm doing a new image every time I do something a lot of time that I don't want to not have to redo. I start with a new image, make the update and do another image...

Acronis compresses the image so it takes much less space than you think. I have a 120 GB SSD that is half full, and the image covers about 22 GB... A 4 TB drive would be also around 22 GB for example, if she had the same 60 GB of used space.

I currently have a folder with 22 pictures which takes up 350GB

PS... If you decide to do with any method... your life will be MUCH easier if you keep all your data on a separate drive, or at least on a separate partition. If you have only a small amount of data files, then it is not a problem

    Hello

I'll do a clean install of win8 in my laptop. However, I want to ask 2 things:

1 - is the SRS Sound driver available for 8?

    2. for purposes of formatting, I know I will need to put the hard disk usb and load drivers during the initial phase of win8 install, right? otherwise, hard drive will not be displayed in the list... right? And. What partitions?

2.1 HARD drive - I won't touch in 14.29 GB Partition, because it is toshiba recovery image right?

2.2 disk - other partitions I'll delete and create new ones for win8.

2.3 SSD - do I need to configure anything for Cache SSD? (ie: intel Center Quick config?) or win8 it automatically detects and install it? I'm afraid of this part, because I've seen users trying to config SSD intel quick Center hollow and the end spoil the SSD = solution was only of RMA.

Hmm have you visited the page of the Toshiba UE driver and checked this?
    I found this driver: [SRS Sound Driver 1.12.5000 Win 8 | http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EU&selCategory = 2 & selFamily = 2 & selSeries = 198 & selProduct = 7520 & selSh ortMod = null & language = 13 & selOS = 42 & selType = all & yearu pload = & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = a llMachines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = al l & selectedLanguage = 13 & type = all & page = 3 & ID = 84611 & OSI D = 42 & driverLanguage = 13]

You can add the Intel RAID driver in case the HARD drive wouldn't show. Read this

    > 2.1 HARD drive - I won't touch in 14.29 GB Partition, because it is toshiba recovery image right?
Recovery image does not work after installing Win 8. Then create recovery disk before installing Win 8

    > 2.2 HDD - other partitions I'll delete and create new ones for win8.
You choose the partition where the Windows 8 would be installed. Check above document.

I think that you don t need to configure anything during the installation of Win 8.

  • Installation clean P580 Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit - cannot install driver Intel WiFi correctly

Driver installation went well after a clean install. I was not aware of any special settings or any need to install some drivers in the order. So maybe I did not just something.

I noticed that there was no WiFi service. I have downloaded and run the file 0zwl03ww.exe, which is listed as driver WiFi Intel for Win 7 32/64. I got a message saying that something could have trouble with the installation. So I chose rerun. Asked me if I wanted to replace an existing file. I said "Yes to all". The result was a message saying "access denied." Later, there was still no WiFi and no WiFi service pilot shown in Device Manager.

I restarted the PC, hoping it would help. Still no WiFi and no shown in Device Manager.

I looked at the folder C:\Drivers containing the driver files and subdirectories. I removed those and tried to delete the folder. I didn't have the right to do. I checked the security settings on the folder and showed a red X with a message saying that the security settings are not available.

When I try to reinstall the driver, I get the same results reported (files to be replaced), but no files are displayed in Windows Explorer in this folder.

I tried to restore the original file to the Recycle Bin. Restoration happened, but now the files are gone.

There is another pilot provided for Liteon & CyberTan; This doesn't seem to be the right driver.

If the PC is running, LAN, internet cable OK - but I'm stuck with no WiFi. Can anyone help? Thank you!

I found and ran a setup.exe for Win7 inside the extracted folder. I went through the typical installation of choice routine and told me "The Intel ProSet Wireless WLAN software Setup Wizard ended prematurely" with no further explanation given.
