HP Compaq has a black screen at power up... The BIOS Corruption failure?

I have a Compaq Presario CQ61 product: VM9496Q2X model: CQ61-319WM series: [edited by moderator serial number], which has a black screen when I turn on.  The wifi button stays red and the caps lock flashes twice.  I think that it indicates a BIOS curruption faliure.  I tried to reset by unplugging and removing the battery and holding the power for 30 seconds button.  I tried the f8 key and esc repeatly to power upward. I also tried pressing the windows and the B key and the power key, but nothing has worked.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm very disappointed with the lack of response of an HP Service Technician.  I ended up taking my laptop to a computer repair shop.  My problem is that the graphics card has become dessoudée of the motherboard.  They have rearranged my motherboard and it works fine.  fix $ 79.00.

    My computer has a black screen with: turn off power and reinstall the jumper in normal mode position? Help!

    Hi Miguel C.

    a. What is the brand of your computer?

    b. do you remember of any changes to your machine before the question?

    I don't know what motherboard you have, but some is shipped with the 'Clear CMOS' jumper in the position unequivocally. Check the manual of your motherboard for this rider and make sure that it is in the normal position.

    J7B1 computer configuration jumper block requires a single rider set the configuration of the BIOS Setup utility. This allows the configuration in the configuration utility BIOS, including the frequency of bus and the processor motherboard speed.

    Note: Do not move this jumper with the computer turned on.

    Warning of the BIOS:
    BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    I think, you'd be best to contact the manufacturer of the motherboard as this seems to be a motherboard problem.

    Hello

    What changes have been made on your machine for there to be a black screen with a cursor?

    Rather than doing a clean install of your operating system, I suggest you do the following.

    Step 1:

    Remove all external devices (printer, USB flash drive), as appropriate, and start your computer again and check.

    Step 2:

    If this is little help, start your machine in safe mode and check if it starts on the desktop.

    Let us know the status of the issue.

  • My computer takes 20 minutes to start and also has a black screen

    Hello world

    I have a Dell Dimension 9200 and recently every time I start my computer or it reboot, it takes 20 minutes to get to the desktop and also has a black screen. This issue has occurred only recently and I don't know what is the cause and so advice would be welcome.

    Other strange things include all my system restore points are missing and so I can't return the operating system to a previous date when it was working properly.

    And when I did a test on the hard disk, one of the internal drives have had a "Fail" result - Code 7 back. I don't know if this was caused by a virus or is the result of a mechanical failure in the hard drive itself.

    Thank you very much.

    Yesterday, my pc only has a black screen with a cursor. I tried to restore on another point but then after starting upwards and put my password, I get the home screen but cannot open any programs. I can't use the USB stick or cd / dvd drive so how should proceed to solve this? I can't put my external modem to make a back up and I really want to fix this without losing all the data on my pc. I can run programs in safe mode and windows installation disc opens in SafeMode as well, however I can't set safe mode.

    Click Install now

    When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

    I am running Windows XP

    clint341,
    Thanks for posting on the Microsoft Answers forum.  We cannot guide you more precisely by changing the BIOS settings that the BIOS settings are specific to your motherboard.  However, most (if not all) parameters of the BIOS have an option to restore the default BIOS (sometimes called "default opitimized").  It may be an option in the menu that you highlight, then press enter or it can be assigned to an F key and States at the bottom of the screen, press F? for the default settings.  I hope this helps.  If you are still not able to reset, check with the manufacturer of PC for more information about the BIOS. • XPS One 2710 - black screen on startup. No BIOS.

    I met a problem when using Windows (during a copy of files, icons disappear from my office and I cannot start programs) and had to restart my PC. As a result, Windows could not restart showed a blue screen WDF_Violation, another boot resulted in a screen of reconstruction followed a mistake of the Intel driver Cache. After repeated that cycle a couple of teams, I hard rebooted the PC.

    Now, the computer starts with a black screen. I see the backlight turns on for a few seconds however there is no screen of the BIOS boot nor is it the beep normal when the pre-start checks complete.

    I tried to boot with a CD of Windows 10 and USB without success. I also tried pressing the full range of function keys.

    He is running Windows 10 and was without a problem for about 6 months so far.

    My data is backed up, so I don't mind a format and regenerate solution but must be able to obtain the BIOS and boot from the DVD/USB.

    Any help gratefully received.

    Dell didn't test the compatibility of the XPS with Win 10 2710. If you search these forums, you will find many users reporting the same 'black screen of death"after Win 10 on this model for a few days, weeks or even months.

    Not quite clear what happens bad, but many users had to replace the motherboard, if they could find one.

    Power on the usb hub failure is it affects all hubs and devices that connect to the hub?

    If the surge is important enough to fry a USB hub then it can damage the other devices connected with it. If it is connected to a computer, that power could prevent other devices to get affected, getting itself damaged in the process.

    Hello world.

    I have a C660 - 22v.Everything worked very well. An hour later, then to use the laptop again, it works, and he turned on as normal in 2 clicks, then more nothing. Just a black screen, not yet turned on, then after 5 to 15 seconds, the fan accelerates for a second or 2, then the laptop turns off.

    Tried with the batteryout & just the charger pluged, just the battery, hold the power button, all sorts of ways, but it only of the switches off the power.

    I think that the hard drive has failed. Any help would be welcome as its out of warranty (16 months).

    A big thank you in advance, Neil.

    In my opinion it has nothing to do with the hard drive. I assume that there is a problem of electronic power supply. I have a similar problem with my A300 and at the moment I put t know what to do.
    Repair is probably quite expensive so I m thinking about selling on eBay as being faulty.

    Problem is that we cannot do much. What should do? You can dismount, take a look inside and put the new.

    Either it works or not. I'm afraid that your problem is for the service and it must be checked by the guys from the services of m.

    I can tell you how to make bootable disks, but you already have a disk.

    He has changed since good means of XP repair install from disk by booting from it.

    I would add that info to disk Bootable repair, just in case your DVD is a factory of one computer.

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-Vista.html

    It's Vista only repair installation option these days.
    It must be switched on!
    Not much use, is it!

    Good luck with it.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    Above information shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista Startup Repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
