I have a Hp G500 series portable Ubuntu 12.04 running. This morning the case slipped and fell. The operating system starts fine and the memory test in the checked bios but when I went to check the main hard drive in the bios, it conducted an audit of the fast and then frozen at 2%. I hit ESC, but everything is frozen. < br > < br > I myself have already resigned to the fact that I may need to replace the HARD drive again, but if it can be avoided, I prefer not to spend the money.

Yes, that means you need to replace the hard drive.

  • Portege S100 - how to install XP on the new HARD drive?

    Hello

I have a fatal error when I want to install Windows XP on a new 250 GB SATA HARD drive (more than the original 60 GB). I have RAID drivers but no "game"?

    Help a poor french user.
    Thank you

    Hello

What RAID drivers did you use?

Normally, you will need to download the RAID driver on Toshiba page and copy the files extracted to an external floppy drive. You can use an external floppy with USB drive. You can load the drivers if you press F6 once you have booted from Microsoft XP disc.

By the way: have you checked BIOS if the HARD drive is recognized?

  • Satellite C660-223 - system caution: "" problem with cooling detected system "".

When I carry my Satellite C660-223 somewhere for example wear at home to College in a protective case in my backpack, I sometimes get a window warning flashing upward every 20 seconds or so said system + "warning: a problem with the cooling system has been detected." Please turn the computer off immediately and return it for service. +

This only happens when I transported somewhere and as a first step, that these warnings system flashed only sometimes upwards after I hauled somewhere, but in the last two years, he started to get pretty much whenever I took the laptop somehwere. When the system warnings blink until the computer doesn't feel a little warmer than normal. no danger of overheating, immediately.

I didn't fix it because the problem seems to resolve itself the next time that I carried the computer somewhere. It's a very strange problem where the short-term solution was the same as the cause: as in I would take the laptop somewhere, the warning system flash upwards and I learned that take "for a walk" would fix somehow everything which was the 'problem '. I solved the problem in this way too often so he could be a coincidence.

So for a while it wasn't really a problem because I just didn't take the laptop anywhere. But the warning system has recently start flashing to the top if I wear just the laptop on the floor, and the warning system does not disappear with my method incredibly non-tech-savvy to "go for a walk", which I am sure many here would give something to laugh :).

The obvious answer is that I need to get the service pronto thing, but I'm in the middle of final exams and the situation of tech in my house means I can't leave the laptop away for service for who knows how long when I really need to study.

Responses, I'm hoping to get are ideas as to what actually caused this problem and short-term solutions that are a little better informed that my approach "going for a walk".

I think THAT what is, is that the movement to carry your laptop around in a backpack something within the done cooling system moving out of place causing the evil TI work. I say this because, while writing this thread I was turn the laptop over and over again to get a look at the stickers on the back and the practice that seems to have "solved" the problem of warning system because this window flashes up while he was only a few minutes ago.

It seems so that all component moved his place before been moved back again by the movement to turn the laptop over and over. And I was not even take him for a walk!

    Any help? Thanks in advance.

    Hello

This notification may appear for different reasons.
The alert might appear due to
    (1) cooling system malfunction
    (2) blocked cooling vents or fans
    (3) software question (VAP - added value package or BIOS)

Malfunction of the cooling system, you should contact the service agents at the difficulty.

In case of a blocked vent and fans it s enough to clean the parts using a jet of compressed air.
This allows to get rid of dust inside the cooling module.

If the vents are not blocked and you still see this message, check the application of the service station for updates on your computer. If any are found, download and install.
You can try to uninstall or update the Toshiba value added Package. This package contains a few essential tools and utilities that control the cooling system too.
    Also check BIOS update.

But if you continue to receive this error, your laptop may require repair

  • Satellite A350 - Touchpad has stopped working

My touchapad worked well on both the system and dedicated driver (synaptics). One day I turned it off using Fn + F9 and after that I couldn't activate it. I used the pilot system then. So I installed Synaptics but he says there is no device conpatible to work with. I also tried Alps - no result. So I checked bios - Pionting Dev. is. I changed this option twice thought, it can be useful - don't. Today it is about half a year since I have to use the usb mouse.

Yesterday, I restored the system - I had a full, independent image. It was created when the touchpad still worked. After restoring the touchpad does not work. So I decided to install the system fresh - same problem. I almost thought that touchpad is broken. However, today, I noticed that when I disconnect the USB mouse, and then between this action and touchapad sound (inform of this action) of the system works - for approx. 0.5 seconds. It moves! But I failed to turn on.

I don't understand what's the point. I read some post on other forums. It seems that other people have same problem. They have different but always Toshiba notebooks. I think that we need professional help. Can get us?

    Sorry for my English.
    Best regards
    Evening primrose

    Hello

To be honest I n t found other similar topics so it doesn t seem to be a common issue. Also, the touchpad on my laptop two Toshiba works perfectly and never had a problem. In addition here it s only a user to user forum where you can talk with normal people like you and me. If you want professional help, get in touch with an authorized service provider.

In any case, a point is not clear to me: you have written on several system restores, images, etc., but what images you used exactly?

In your case, I recommend a Toshiba Recovery disk recovery facility. The disc can restore factory settings (out of box) with all the necessary drivers and tools. After this installation everything should work properly again.
Otherwise it s a hardware malfunction

  • Satellite L750 back on after mode "Eve"

Daughter has a Toshiba L750 aged from 4 months working under windows 7. She is in college so it uses every day. It is basically remains connected. If she is, she will turn it on and leave it on all day. He'll usually just in mode "Eve" and she must then set password to return to the office.

A few times he went into mode 'sleep', all lights power etc. are light but it back on. To come she must disconnect the power supply and the battery, plug it back and there it goes. If she died it normally at the end of the day, he simply never 'not started' its just twice in the mode 'sleep'.

What may be the cause? Permanent connection to the network? Constantly lit? Settings problem? Hardware failure?

    Thank you

(PS... Please be gentle with answers. Even if I can usually follow basic instructions OK, any mention of the BIOS etc etc who brings me a cold sweat!)

    Hi Mike

I would try to give some info gently ;)
To be honest I'm not very well why the laptop does not wake from sleep correctly but I read here in the forum about similar issues and in most cases, the BIOS update was necessary please don t m download panic now ;)

First of all I recommend you check the version of your BIOS.
Here you can find beautiful instruction how to do this.
+ _How to check BIOS version_ +.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD0602WA0000R01.htm

Now, visit the European driver of Toshiba page and check the latest BIOS available.
If there is a superior/new version available for download, try to update the BIOS.

Here is a detailed update of the BIOS instruction:

  • ThinkPad Yoga - black screen

After reading question formidable black screen for other models, I check if the Thinkpad Yoga also has the black screen problem. Since this happened just within one month after the expiration of the warranty, if it proves to be the hardware problem this has strong changes as the latest product lenovo belonging to the family.

Question: I'm back a work House to wake up my sleeping Lenovo. Noticed that he seemed to be in mode black screen with nothing appear. So tried to press a few buttons and then finally turned off using the button. To restart, I could see the sign of Lenovo and the option to press ENTER to check the other options and I ignored as usual scenario happy path and let it go. At the time, that it usually starts showing the Windows screens, I don't see anything happen. A black screen with all the lights on the keyboard still works but no screen. Connected to the projector to see if the login screen displays, but it didn't. Tried to reboot several times, reset using the hole of pin down, ran Diagnostics and tried to update the system etc using the options of troubleshooting, checked BIOS settings - that appear on the screen and the LCD like a charm test pass, but when Windows starts does not work.

ThinkPad Yoga 15 running on Windows 10 pro. 20DQ type of machine.

The frustarting thing is guaranteed just expired in late July, phone support will not even discuss the issue since he arrived at expiration. I spent the right amount of days thinking about spending a lot on this laptop last year only to reach a point in a year I might have to spend little more just to save her. Help, please!

Hello. Is it possible that system has gone through an automatic update to Windows 10 anniversary? If Yes, I have experienced the same problem - it will not start and show only black screen. For me, the previous generation ASR failed also. Here are my options:

    (1) I managed to complete the update after you follow this procedure - https://support.lenovo.com/cz/en/solutions/ht501760

    (2) if that is not enough at this point (I don't know if this setting is needed before a failed installation), I was able to recover a previous version:

-on another computer, download Microsoft media creation tool and create and install USB offline media

-boot from media by pressing F12 at startup and on the second screen (I think) at installation, you can decide not to install the system, but recover the system - there is a link on the lower left corner. This brings you to the recovery screen where you can revert to a previous version

I would like to know if it's completely irrelevant, or it is useful.

  • X220T wireless after reinstall Win 7

Hello. I used a rescue disk that my PC will again by reinstalling Windows 7 (boot sector problem (I think). WiFi did not work at first, but got it to work by reinstalling chip set update. Noticed that the hard drive was half full of useless junk so I used the hot spare to format the hard drive and reinstalled Windows 7 once more. Everything works fine, but I can't get wifi working again, even though I tried to reinstall chipset. The radio button is on and its light appears at the bottom of the monitor.

It shows 2 network adapters, as before: Intel Centrino Advanced N-6205 Intel 82579LM gigabit network. . Neither one has a yellow exclamation mark next to it. I tried deactivating/activating them both with the same result. Wired connection works fine. Checked BIOS and WLAN is enabled. When you use the 'Manage the wireless Radio', I can feed the bluetooth on and outside, but by clicking on the button next to 802.11 Wireless Radio does nothing. Also, "Key settings" icon at the bottom has a NW to SE slash through it. I used the Lenovo update system to get them all but the KB2459268 Win 7 update (clings to install 91%).

I checked the other posts on the issue and some have broken links, so I don't know if I missed something or not. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Finally managed to do work somehow.

  • Satellite Pro A60 - HARD drive not detected by BIOS

    Hi all!
I received a Pro (PSA65E) Satellite A60 for free... because it has a bug! But I want to fix it and use it.
Problem is that the HARD drive is not recognized by the BIOS. Strange enough, it is possible to format during the initial phase of an installation of the OS from scratch (I tried with Win XP and Win 2000), but facilities do not proceed any further because it won't start HD. If I try to install a time shild, he can't find some data already present in the HD and gives warnongs... which means that it is also possible to write to the disk.
The BIOS screen shows: no drive.
CD-ROM drive is OK, shown as secondary.
I also look in the forums to nothing does not.
    Actions taken so far:
    * flashed the BIOS, now at version 1.90
    * Replaced the original HD (Toshiba, 40 GB) known to be good, by another more small (Toshiba, 30 GB)
    * Tried to remove the drive CD and checked BIOS recognizes, it has been removed and recognized it even when delivered. The same manoeuvre with the HD does not change the BIOS screen: he says still 'no drive '.
    * Tried with the BACK of Partition Magic version: it says "no disk found. Same thing with the backup came with the PC disks.
Tried other stuff found in Fora them: remove all the power sorce, let the PC for a few minutes... open and checked for visible problems in the area of the disc HARD and so on.
    Any suggestion would be appreciated!

    Thank you
    aurcri

  • Problem of dualboot with LIKE 6-1090eo, no hard drive found new windows

    Hello

Im trying to make my Dualboot envy. Make a new partition for it. Everything was groovy. But now, I hit a wall: startup in windows install works fine, even copied files when started installing windows. But. When should I choose the destination for the installation, no drive must be found. I copied the drivers for the drive directly from windows for the installation media, install said no driver here, nono. This is the original hybrid drive came with the laptop. No systeminfo identifies the disc. Some say it's a record of intel, propably chipset's. Checked Bios, no probs there.

Oh great, what to do now? Change the player?

    SE on moro.

    Hello:

    Please try this...

Download the drivers from this link below (first or second file listed - 32 or 64 bit depending on the case).

    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?AGR=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=23060&keyword=Intel+RAPI...

Extract the files on a usb flash drive.

With the flash player and the installation of W7 media connected to the computer, boot from the installation of W7 media.

After selecting the install now option, select the training - Advanced menu, Options and select the option load a driver.

You should now see the storage driver files listed.

If you check the box, it only includes the compatible driver.

Follow the prompts and should install W7.

  • "No audio device is installed." Where's my audio?

I have a HP Pavilion a6152n Desktop PC, and I'm on Vista 32 bit.  My audio was going well until I installed a GeForce GT545 graphics card.  Now I have no sound.  I don't know which driver to install, because according to Device Manager, no audio device is installed.  I think remember me the Realtek name before.

    Any thoughts?

Some graphics cards seem to disable audio internal, because they take audio over himself.
Have you checked BIOS to reactivate audio internal?
