  • HP Deskjet 2540: Wireless printing problems with HP Deskjet 2540

    Hi all

I have a problem with a printer HP Deskjet 2540 - it prints if I connected a USB cable; However, he refuses to print if I try to print wireless.

I had initially solved this problem when I went into system preferences > printers and Scanners and noticed two 2540 Deskjet series icons in a window titled 'Printers '. I ended up removing one of these icons and set it as a default, which temporarily seems to solve my problem. Now, I see two icons back in the "Printers" menu and my printer refuses to print over my wireless connection.

My printer is connected to my internet connection so I don't think there is a problem here - I also recently installed the software for this printer to make sure it wasn't some kind of driver issue; However, it doesn't give me the permanent solution, that I'm looking.

Any advice? My operating system is OS X Version 10.9.5

I went into commercial devices and the settings selected.  I chose the wireless option (after connecting to my Mac computer, using the USB cable).  The Setup utility has the printer correctly and requested network name, password, etc..  Once I have submitted Everything that he says it can't find the network.

I then tried to set up her pinter just using the USB cord.  He quickly walked through and said that installation is complete.  However, when I try to print, it shows the printer offline.  I tried to restart it with no luck.  The copy function works fine, but without a connection to the network or the computer, I can't print or scan anything.

Problem solved! Thank you very much!

I tried to delete the printer with the USB unplugged. When I went to add a printer, there is none listed and no place to go. I plugged the USB back in and it read it immediately. However, no still no joy Wireless Setup.

In applications, I was go to the hp and selection of the device Utilities folder. This time instead I selected the hp utility and got another screen. Down under settings of the printer, there was a marked wireless configuration icon. When I chose it, the process is different from the previous, but it worked.

I tried to go back and duplicate this process, but the printer settings section has more wireless configuration icon. I guess that's because I am now connected. In any case, thank you for taking the time to help me solve this problem!

  • ColorMFP LaserJet M175nw 100: connect printer Laserjet 100 wireless

Due to the recent DDOS acctack on servers DNS of Dyn Corp, it was recommended that all passwords and secret phrases on routers and Internet all devices be changed. I did this on all my devices and I'm successful with the exception of the 100 Laserjet Printer.  When you use the arrow keys on the printer to access the "network" Menu, I get a response indicating 'Access disabled Menu'.  I also have this same answer for the configuration of the system and Service.

So I correctly uninstalled the printer and tried to reinstall it.  In doing so, I am only able to put in place as a USB printer and not a wireless printer.  Trying to set up as a printer wireless Configuration utility see the SSID of the router and then when he's in the Install utility installation fails.  I turned off and unplugged from the computer, printer and router and re-run the routine without success.

In my view, if there is a way to set the default printer, it will disable the block on access to the "network" Menu on the control panel of the printer and then I would be able to configute the operation it's wireless.  I would also appreciate other possible solutions.  Thank you!

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that your HP Deskjet 2540 guard wrong wireless network connection. I'm happy to look into this problem of connectivity for you!

On the wireless test report, must be an IP address from the printer. Try putting the IP address in a web browser, such as: Safari or Firefox, etc. You should see a built-in Web server. Find the network tab and then select it. Then, look for the wireless configuration wizard option. (This should be able to search for the network wireless appropriate for you).

  • HP Deskjet 2540: My printer cannot connect to the wireless network (SSID is not found)

    Hello

I have a HP Deskjet 2540 printer that is configured to print using the USB cable, and I have no problem printing through it. I just bought a router (D-link DWR116) and I'm trying to set up the connection to the router wireless to my printer. When I use the printer setup & software and select the option "convert a connected USB printer wireless", I can choose to enter into the setting of the printer access the router automatically or manually. These two will come with the same problem where the program is my name SSID of the router successfully but then failed to connect to what the SSID is not found.

It comes on it comes up with the error message:

Question: You have manually entered the name of the network (SSID) cannot be found.
Solution: Check that your wireless router is powered. When to manually enter the name of your network (SSID), make sure you enter exactly including upper and lower case and spaces.
    ============================================================================================

Which is meaningless because it came with the SSID earlier and I chose what options the wireless network available. I tried to manually enter the SSID, but after entering the password for the router, the same error message appears.

    Help, please.

    Thank you

In fact, I solved the problem. Something about the wifi light on the printer. It can not be flashing, I don't know what the blue light flashes on the wofo of the printer, but I don't think that it means that the wifi is on.

  • DeskJet 2540: cannot convert mac wireless usb printer

    Hello

I'm having a problem setting my printer all-in-one Deskjet 2540 on my macbook (osx El Capitan). After basic implementation through usb connection, I was able to connect my printer to my router, which makes possible wireless printing. I was then able to print wireless from my phone using remote control all-in-one app.

However, I now want my macbook to establish a wireless connection to the printer instead of the usb connection that is used for configuration. I can't find the option to convert a usb printer to a printer that is connected to the wifi. When disconnecting from usb, laptop computer notes the connection with the printer is lost. To install my printer, I use the HP Utility software, in which I can't find such an option. Also, when passing through Apple-> system-> printers and scanners preferences I can't find an option "convert to wireless. I also read a method via Finder-> applications-> HP and then an icon for installing the software & should be there? In my case, there is only the HP Utility icon which directs me to the same program in which I could not find the option.

What I was looking for, and where can I find it?

Might be a little exaggerated description, but I hope that this makes it extremely clear...

  • HP deskjet 2540: stop page print quality and 'use printer wireless without router' printing

After installing the hp deskjet printer 2540, all operating systems (vista, windows, mac os, windows 8) correctly printed.

I would like to prevent the printing of print quality page whenever the printer is on and to prevent print also the page "use printer wireless without router" (it would be better not to waste the ink).

Thanks for any help you can provide

    Hi there @lesart55.

    Welcome to the HP community!

I have seen your post on how your Deskjet 2540 prints a page of print quality every time that the printer is on, and also the page "use printer wireless without router" is printing.

I'll start with the PQ page that prints at the start of the printer, as it is normally a sign of a hardware problem with the printer.

Try to update the firmware on the printer. Here is the link to download and run the update using a USB connection to your Vista system: HP Deskjet 2540 series Firmware update

Try a reset of the power to the printer and make sure the printer is plugged directly into the wall, avoiding bars power and surge protectors. This ensures that the printer is full on and can help greatly.

Press the power button to turn the product on.
With the product, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the back of the product.
If the product does not light by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

If the PQ page always print after you are done troubleshooting, try the steps outlined in this guide below. I looked at the steps that I see would take place in the tent for your specific problem and chose the steps following, Please do not take account of the actual title.

An "Incompatible cartridge or"Missing cartridge"Error Message is displayed for HP Deskjet 1510, 2540 Deskjet, HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1510 and Deskjet Ink Advantage 2540 all-in-One Series Printer"

I hope that the problem has been cleared up for you at this stage. If this isn't the case, please call us directly to discuss your options of the printer!

  • HP Deskjet 2540 all-in-one: printer stopped connecting to the wifi network

Hi, my printer has suddenly stopped detecting my wireless network. When I turn on the printer, wireless blue light continues to blink and there is an exclamation point on the screen of the printer. I still have the same wifi network as before and have not changed it or its parameters. I have not physically moved the printer and the wireless works fine for all computers, iPads, and phones.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the HP Utility Set Up software but it couldn't detect the printer to set up.  I also tried running the diagnostic results, but all the results, said 'Not work', 'Not applicable' or 'None'. I can't even an IP address for my printer.

My laptop can detect the printer if I turn on the wireless Direct button and I connect to this network on my laptop, but that's all. I'd rather connect the printer to the wifi so I can print from all my devices (phone, iPad etc.). The printer is less than 6 months and I do not understand what is the problem with him. Can you please specify?

    Hey @Sue1990,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I understand that the all-in-one printer Deskjet 2540 does not connect to your wireless network. I can help you with that.

To connect the printer to your network again you will need to run the USB cable from the printer to your computer Mac OS x 10.7. This makes the open Applications, Hewlett-Packard and inside this folder you will find a program with a similar name to the installation wizard. If you run this program, then you will find options to connect your printer to your wireless network.

    Separated from this thread.

    Hi Bill,

I tried to connect my HP Deskjet 2540 all-in-One Series printer to my Dell Inspiron 15 for two days without success.  Can you help me?

    Lenora,

I have a HP DeskJet 2540 on my Dell Inspiron 1545.

The instructions from HP work so you should be fine if you follow them.  The CD contains a ReadMe file that describes the installation procedure.

You must install the software first, and only then connect the printer.  Note that you will first need to install it on a USB connection.  You can change this later if, like me, you intend to use it with WiFi.
