HP Deskjet F4280 don't scan on MAC OSX 10.6

Just bought a MacBook Pro 13 "which came with a HP Deskjet F4280 all-in-One printer/scanner/copier.  The MacBook is under Snow Leopard - 10.6.  Install the drivers Mac OS since the CD HP Deskjet F4200 Series (Version 9.6).  Everything works well except the scan.  I can print.  Can I photocopy it.  Whenever I try to scan, I get the following message...

Error.  Sorry, an unknown error has occurred.  I can hear the scanner moving until the error is displayed.

I thought that maybe there could be an update of the Mac software - so I checked and downloaded the version 9.7.1 of the drivers on the HP site and install them.  However, I still get the same message every time I try to run a scan.  Software HP Scan Pro (Version 7.4.5) loads the scanner begins to work, and then I get the error message.

I noticed other users complaining about the same problem, but have not seen all the solutions.  Y at - it a solution or a fix to this problem.  Digitization is a thing I need to be able to do.

Hey, I was able to find a solution to your problem. I had the same problem too.

Rather than support the new analysis, go to the Image Capture which is located in the Application folder. Click the HP Deskjet printer on the devices tab, and it will start scanning.

I hope that helped!

    Hello

The printer is compatible with the Mountain Lion (10.8) or a later version, it is not compatible with your operating system. to get all the features, I suggest the printer back and get a previous model that suports of Lion.

You may be able to circumvent such assistance an another print driver, such will offer only the printer and features advanced features not so much that the ink levels, management of printers, etc.

    To so proceed as follows:

1 install the package on your Mac:

    https://support.Apple.com/kb/DL907?locale=en_US

    2. connect the printer to your Mac and make sure that it is turned on.

    3. from system preferences > printers and Scanners, click the sign more and select your printer.

    4. click on the reduction in the drop-down menu, then select printer software use.

    5. Select the HP Deskjet 3050 as another driver and click Add.

For scanning, you try the 3rd party software VueScan which should be supported on Lion and support your printer:

  • HP Envy 100 D410a can't see mac apple printer so don't scan at him

I installed the software from the disc supplied and all functions of work outside the mac function analysis. He couldn't get any computer to scan to. I use a wireless through a router connection cable Netgear WGR614. My mac is a Mac OS 10.6.6 MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB RAM.

I followed the HP Web site suggestions and uninstalled the HP, dumped preferences software, repair disk permissions and reinstalled the correct software from the Web site. I also got an update from HP printer via the software update later and gave the mac and printer an IP address manually.

The scan-back function found my mac but the software scan-back on the mac went into a loop, and I had to force quit. I decided to reboot the wireless router, the mac and the printer but the printer is returned to a State where he could not find the mac.

Discussion on the HP site suggests that PCs must be set to "Enable analysis for computer" whenever they are turned on or awakened from his sleep. It notes, however, that it is not necessary for macs, that it happens automatically.

Please can someone help? Thank you very much.

    Hi Randy.

Thank you very much for your advice.

    I followed the road of:

Full CV uninstall-> restart mac-> add a printer in the preferences and download the latest Apple HP drivers for 10.6-> complete HP drivers from the HP website.

The scan for mac worked worked the first time.

Amazing it is really as simple as the order in which the different drivers are installed. Sounds simple in hindsight, but there was no way to guess that at time of initial installation.

I am very grateful to you - it was driving me crazy!
