  • HP Pavilion dv4000 CPU Upgrade

I get a HP Pavilion dv4000 laptop an Intel Pentium M 725 / 1.6 GHz I want to know is can I replace it with a 2 GHz processor? As you can do with DV6000 and DV9000 laptops?

If I can what would I look like part number

    Thank you

    Todd

Yes, there is a compatible 2 ghz processor for this laptop. Actually a 2.13 ghz CPU

    Your manual

396700 001 is the part number.

    $13.50 shipped to Illinois:

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/Pentium-M-Dothan-770-2-13G-2m-533Mhz-laptop-processor-CPU-SL7SL-no-FRU-/121387953321?PT=CPUs&hash=item1c43492ca9

It is always a 32-bit core processor so don't expect great things not but 1.6 to 2.13 ghz will be noticeable.

Assuming that your computer is 2006 or later, following the links eventually will lead you to the following directions:

Reformatting a hard drive should be considered a last resort to solve a problem with a computer system. The hard drive can be reformatted and reinstalled the operating system, using the system PC Suite hard disk recovery. Reformatting the hard drive will overwrite all data on the disk. To preserve the data, back up the data of the user as; letters, leaves of calculation, graphics and emails to an external storage device before you reformat the disk. If the PC does not work in the Windows operating system, see reformatting since the recovery disks .
Do the following to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.
    1. Connect the PC to the power adapter.
    2. Close all programs.
    3. Click Start , click principally made programs , select System Restore and click on the PC recovery .
    4. When the recovery options are offered, select the option to perform the Recovery of PC and click Next .
    5. The PC will restart.
    6. When the recovery of the PC of welcome message, click OK to continue.
    7. In the system recovery Panel, select System Recovery . By default, the system will perform a complete reformat and will destroy all user data.
    8. Restart the PC when prompted.
As alternative method for the steps above, click Advanced Options , select the destructive recovery option and click Next to begin the reformatting process.
The PC is in original factory State and all data in the system, such as the place and the date must be reconfigured.

NOTE: any software "trial offer" has been included in the original factory image, it will be reinstalled, but it won't work (the test period will have expired).  If so any trial software is a security antivirus software or others, before connect you to the Internet, you must uninstall (using an uninstall tool provided by the manufacturer if available antivirus software) and then install your own anti-virus software.  So, you should download the uninstallers necessary and installers (or buy the software on CD) using another machine before starting this project.

PLS HELP ME. THANKS TO THE GUYS ADVENCE.

    Hello:

The video controller in your model is not entirely Vista or W7 capable.

Here is a driver that will allow you to change the resolution of the screen and have the graphics acceleration, but you don't have Windows Aero (one of the reasons that the gpu is not quite capable of running W7).

Download and run this graphics driver.  You will probably get an error of unsupported operating system.

    Conclusion of any windows error.

    http://h20565.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?sp4ts.Oid=447277&swItemId=ob_47264_1&swEnvOid=2094

Go to Device Manager and click on the video controller needing drivers.  Click the driver tab.  Click on set to update driver.

Select her browse my computer for driver software option and navigate to the folder of the driver that was created when you ran the file.

This file will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp34749.  Make sure that the include subfolders is selected, and the driver should install.  Then restart.

Audio.  Use the support page for your laptop XP driver.  You may need to install manually too. I forgot.

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-46934-1&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&OS=228&productOid=468823&sw_lang=&product=468789

    Wireless:

Download and unzip the first driver in a folder...

    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/download/15798/Intel-Pro-wireless-drivers-only-for-Windows-Vista-

Manually install the driver as you did the graphics driver... just browse the driver folder you have unzipped and the driver should install.

  • dv4000 - partition image factory

I got an old Pavilion dv4000 which does not work well.

When it launches the application guests: «Manager of Acronis loader...» ». but F11 have no influence.

I want to erase the disc and go back to the ORIGINAL IMAGE.

If I take the HARD drive and connect it to a DVI cable / USB to a desktop - I can see the content of twilight.

What should be the name of the IMAGE of ORIGINAL HP? and if it has been deleted it is downloadable on the HP sites?

(I have all the original labels of HP and Microsoft XP on the bottom).

If you are 'Charger Acronis Manager' when it starts up, then someone has made changes to the boot sector. They have probably installed Acronis Disk Director. The original image is located in a hidden partition. The image is usually named base.wim.

You can buy a recovery disk HP at a reasonable price. That would be the simplest solution for the laptop back to the oriiginal State.
