HP DVDRAM GT20L ERROR 19

I have had this PC for 2 years or more. He suddenly left 'See' the DVD player. In Device Manager, I see the error: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Everything I found on the such of various sites me the driver for DVDRAM GT20L is corupt. Can you send me a new driver?

Hi Dan,.

OK, then try the following.

1. download the utility which will add "Take Ownership" to the contextual right click menu.  The download is on the following link.

Appropriating

It is a zipped file.  If you do not have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip , which can be used to open it so that you can run the Setup program.  Then just right click the folder zipped, select 7 - Zip and extract the files.  When you're done, open the newly extracted folder and you can find the utility to add "Take Ownership" to the right click menu.  Double-click it to install it and then close the window.

2 open windows control panel, open Device Manager, open CD/DVD-ROM drives.  Click with the right button on the drive and select uninstall and click on the prompt to complete this.

3. click on the Start Menu, open computer, double-click Local C drive, open the "Windows" folder, open the "System32" folder, right-click on the "drivers" folder and select Take Ownership.

Just below this folder, open the folder "DriverStore", open the "FileRepository" folder, open the folder that starts "cdrom.inf", right click the ' filecdrom.sys' and select copy.

Close all open windows and then paste this file to your desktop.

4. yet once, click on the Menu start, open the computer, double-click Local C drive, open the "Windows" folder, open the "System32" folder, then this time Open the folder "drivers", right-click and select Paste.  You should now get a prompt that the file already exists - select the option copy and replace and click on all additional guests to complete it.

Once finished, close all open windows and reboot the laptop - see if Windows can now install the player.

Kind regards

    Hi all

This is my first post in this forum. I have a HP Pavilion dv4-1433us with a CD/DVD HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT20L Ata and for a few weeks now it no longer works. When I put a CD or DVD, there are just some noise but never read the disc. I looked for a solution on the net but no solution is shown. Can you help me, please?

    Thanks in advance,

It seems to be a hardware problem. Maybe I have to buy an another CDDVD. Thanks for all the answers me.

  • [Solved] HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT20L periph. CdRom SATA has a driver problem. The driver faces a problem of Plug-and-Play device.

Recently, I noticed that my CD/DVD stopped working. He turns, but nothing happens; the disc is not read.
I use Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit on an HP Touchsmart tx2z.

I ran the Microsoft FixIt program through http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982116 and it has identified the following problem: 'HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT20L periph. CdRom SATA has a driver problem. The driver faces a problem of Plug-and-Play device. »

However, FixIt said that he was unable to solve the problem and discs are still read.

I manually uninstalled the driver in Device Manager and then scanned for the hardware changes. The driver was reinstalled, but with the same problems as before.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

Also, try following the steps for Windows Vista, which should also work in Windows 7, in the MS KB article:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/982116

These measures, to remove the UpperFilters and LowerFilters, values if they exist, in the registry key named can help.

Create a System Restore Point beforehand and restart the computer later.

It's a hardware problem. The player has several lasers for multiple functions and it is quite possible for the function of CD to stop working and the DVD function fine. The only solution is a replacement player. This is a sale on eBay:

  • Laptop HP G60t-500 - cannot find the DVD burner driver

    Hello

I upgraded my laptop G60t-500 for Windows 8.  I had to reinstall some of the drivers in compatibility mode and overall, it works ok (thumping audio does not work, but I get audio with USB speakers) However, I just noticed that the DVD RW drive does not.  In Device Manager, the hp DVDRAM GT20L reports the following error message:

Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

    {Unable to load device driver}
HS device driver could not be loaded.
    Error status is 0 x %x

I was looking on the site of HP support pilot for the original drivers for the DVD RW drive but can't seem to find them.  I found the HP DVD Play software and I was wondering if it needs to be reinstalled.  Or I have to look elsewhere for the device driver?  Or should I uninstall and leave the machine to find the driver.

As a record, when I right click on the device in Device Manager and select "Update driver software", select the option to let the computer find the right driver, he again reports the correct driver is installed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

Thank you, Vidya.  I had to reboot and now my machine 'sees' the DVD player and it's working (I tested it using a DVD for playback and serious files).

  • Mobile computer watch Vista x 64 DVD player as a removable drive.

I had not noticed it before, and I guess it's just a new show.

My laptop HP DV4-1435dx began to show that I have a removable device plugged in. (the "Remove hardware" appears in the taskbar area). The optical drive (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT20L ATA Device - drive E :) appears in the bar of tools/bar as a removable device.
I know that I used to get this symbol "remove hardware" only when I plug the Flash drive or disk external DRIVE on USB port, no other readers have been connected on this machine now.

Someone told me to change the drive letter of the disk management services... I have change to E: to G: and now it's showing the G: drive as removable drive.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and

    Hello

!. Have you tried to burn Dvd discs with other software?
    2. use the media as verbatim tdk or high quality. Generally, it can happen if you use poor quality discs.
    3. try this one:

Access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
