HP elite m9340f: do not start after replacing the video card. Repeating short and long beeps. Help!

Hello: I have a m9340f HP Pavilion Elite aged five years, under vista. He had a problem with video output, so I bought a new video card and exchanged out them. but now, the computer does not start and made that one short beep and long stretch trying to power upward.  I double checked all connections and they are all good.

Please help me if you know what the problem is.  Thank you... KarlJ

I found that 1 beep short, followed by a long beep indicates a memory failure, try reinstalling your memory

  • Windows will not start after replacing the motherboard

To begin, I must say that I am pretty clueless when it comes to computer skills.

To summarize, I sent my CPU to a repair shop when my computer has stopped working. I removed my hard drive before starting the repairs because it contains confidential data.  They have narrowed the cause to a faulty motherboard and replaced by a new dissimilar.
At the store, the guy had a vista 64 bit recovery disc so I have it home and tried to fix it. He said it will be a breeze and relatively bug free. As part of the Startup Repair, I tried to drive the Startup Repair, and tests were all successful except one. An error of diagnosis readings
"Unspecified system configuration changes may have caused the problem.
Repair action: repair and checking the integrity of system files
    Result: failed. Error code 0 x 490

Everything I've done has led to a brief blue screen to the Windows loading screen and then it restarts itself.
I also tried to restore to the previous two points, but it has also led to the square - a brief blue screen after the loading screen and restarts on its own windows. I'm not ready to reinstall vista and I can't afford to do it too, because I don't have enough disk space to perform another installation. Nor am I willing to reformat one of my two disks.
If you need additional information on the specifications of the material that must be provided, ask me.
IM at my end intelligence now, and I really hope to solve this problem.

    Hello

I'm sorry, but you have to completely reinstall the operating system after replacing the motherboard with a different motherboard.

"Startup Repair" is exactly that: a start NOT a repair system repairs

What has happened, it is the operating system on your hard disk contains the drivers for the old motherboard and does not and you can't change drivers in doing what you do.

The only way to solve this problem is to reinstall Vista.

You wipe the hard drive and restart and make sure that the repair shop gave you the disc to install the new drivers of motherboard after you reinstall vista or download on the website of the manufacturer of the motherboard.

And here a question for you to consider, too.

If you bought a copy of Vista retail yourself, you can use the method above to a new installation and then install the new disk motherboard drivers.

But, if your computer is a trademark of purchased manufacturer, HP, Toshiba, etc., you can not change the motherboard that the license of Vista OEM is stuck at motherboard the origin of the manufacturer that it has been installed on and now you canceled your Vista license.

    See you soon.

So I put an old geforce 8800, and she starts without a problem. When I try the new card Geforce GTX 650, the same thing, just hangs at the splash screen.  I checked the bios and it doent seem to be something there that can help wouild. My diet is 460 w, and the new map needs of 400 w, any help will be greatly appreciated

    Hello

Most of the cards PCI-E 3.0 are retro-compatible with the PCI-E 2.0 slots.  However, in order to get the PCI-E version 3, you must use a processor Ivy Bridge.  Look at these specificationsfor a typical NVIDIA GTX 650.

  • Satellite Pro S300-120 does not start after replacing the CMOS battery

    Hello

    My friends laptop - a S300-120 - was having a few problems.

I replaced some parts about this before, including a screen crack with no problems.

However, he began to refuse to start saying "out of battery CMOS, Press F1 to enter setup". Of course you would have to do this, set the date and time, except & restart only to get the same message. We have replaced the CMOS battery with a with the same serial number and now the laptop will not boot.

It does one of two things.

It is one) seems to turn, turn to the top disk & CD player, cooling fan is 100%, then flashes the POWER ON led once, twice by orange, and then green to 1/2 second intervals, with no response from the keyboard or LCD.

Or (b) turns on, turntable, does not turn up to cooling fan, POWER ON witness remains stable, no response from the keyboard or LCD.

I re-assembled the laptop several times & can not find all the missing fittings or obvious signs of damage.

The only thing I can think is that the motherboard has been damaged - somehow find replacements is delicate.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

(> It is a) appears to turn on, turn the disk & CD player, cooling fan goes to 100% and then flashes him

POWER ON led once, twice by orange, and then green to 1/2 second intervals, with no response from the keyboard or LCD.
Usually, if the voltage in abnormal feeding malfunctions when IN DC will be blinking orange.

In my opinion, it looks like a problem with the motherboard :(
Eventually, you will need to replace the mobo ;(

  • My HP Pavilion DV6 will not start after replacing the screen

I just replaced a cracked screen by following the instructions in the maintenance manual and now it does not start. The power light turns on and the fan works but nothing else happens. What can I do to trouble shoot this problem?

The most common problem is the connection of the cable to the screen.  Make sure that it is tight. Check the connection to the motherboard as well, but it's usually OK.

  • Does not start after replacing the cmos battery

HP m8430f, Vista Home Premium.  Worked very well but sometimes had to restart using "pulsed" F10 (5 seconds) then wait 5 seconds, and then F5, then ENTER, F10, then ENTER.

I suspected the CMOS battery, so I removed it.  He tested "fair."  Got a new CR2032.  He attached the test counter, so it's okay  "I WAITED ALL NIGHT BEFORE REPLACING.  But the computer does not restart.  I went through the steps above and still no luck.  What to do next?  Thank you, Joe

FIXED!  I removed the battery (I had to remove the sound card to get in the first place to the battery).  I waved it around a little when you reinstall.  Now it's working.  What I've done, I have no idea, but it works now.  Sorry for the post, but I was desperate.  Joe

  • Vista will not start after replacing the motherboard

The motherboard in my Dell Vostro 220 died for the 2nd time, and this time it's out of warranty. Not wanting

another cheap/defective board from Dell, I bought a compatible Intel replacement from Newegg. After I put

the replacement board in, Vista won't boot. Dell didn't provide an actual Vista cd/dvd, but rather their generic

repair/driver cd, so I can't just reinstall Vista (32bit). I understand that Vista may have problems with the new

motherboard, but didn't realize it wouldn't give me better opportunity to load new drivers from cd that came

with the motherboard. Am I just screwed and going to have to buy a new Windows cd/licence? The log below is

    what Windows is reporting:

    Problem Signatures1 Auto Failover2 6.0.6001.18000.6.0.6001.180003 64 1966115 Bad Driver6 Bad Driver7 08 19 System Restore10 0

    OS Version 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1

OK, thanks to a thread on DANIWEB here is the solution to my problem - Hiren BootCD (v15.1). MiniXP to start and run difficult HDD controller app. This allowed Vista to boot far enough to get the cd accompanying the motherboard. Later, life is good, Vista hasn't even complained on the new motherboard and licenses.

    Hello

Consult this publication of the article.

There are two updates of BIOS for your PC.  You apply them?  You will need to disable secure boot and enable the legacy mode to do so.  See the links below.

The following items of the HP should help you get a graphics card to work on your PC.

HP Secure Boot Windows 8 themes Computer does not start after the installation of a video (Windows 8) card

Your PC comes with a 460 watt PSU, so be sure that your graphics card meets the requirements specified by the manufacturer of the graphics card.

  • Replace the video card and audio lost

    I have a HP m7350n desktop under WinXP SP2

    The plug: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00585745

I replaced the video card (original) with a Gigabyte GT 440

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16814125366

The new vid card also demanded a new power supply, so I replaced the original power supply with a Cooler Master GX 450

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817171060

When I restarted the computer, I noticed that I had more sound. Not sure if it was important, but even after that I downloaded the latest drivers for the new video card, there is still no sound.

In the status bar system (or what is called the lower right view), I have more small icons for audio that I used to see.

If I run dxdiag and click on the "Sound" tab, everything is white with the error 'no sound card found.  If one must, you must install a sound driver provided by the hardware manufacturer. »

The audio jacks are NOT part of either the old or new video card, so I think that the new video card should not cause this.

Could I have missed feed somewhere during the exchange of food? If I remember, I have provided to:

    -2 CD/DVD drives

    -The expansion slot empty

    -The hard drive

-A long connection on the motherboard (it was like 12 x 2 pins)

    -A small connection square to motherboard (2 x 2-pin)

Any suggestions on what I can is dead wrong, or what I need to check? I am a novice at this stuff, so it could very well be something stupid.

Also, I suppose, it does not matter, but I also added memory 2x1GB sticks in the empty slots (who does not see the PC, but that's a separate post)

    Thanks for the pointers

    Hello:

I see an HDMI port on the map output...

Why what happened?  The answer is that your video card has HDMI that requires a separate HDMI audio chip on the video card. So yes, your videocard DID cause it happens because the PC has picked up map video, disabled the car video (if you have an onboard video) and also disabled the audio system integrated, take on it for audio HDMI on the video card.

The solution is simple, but almost no one knows about it, so I wouldn't say it's something stupid...

Go into your BIOS. Looking for an embedded audio setting. It will be either disabled or Auto. Change the setting on " Enabled".  Save the setting here where you made the change, and again when you exit the BIOS.

When the PC restarts your integrated sound card needs to be restored, and you will also have the use of your audio HDMI when you plug an HDMI cable to your TV.

  • Can I replace the video card Intel (r) 915GM/GMS in Satellite M70?

    Hello!

I have a TOSHIBA Satellite M70, with video card Intel (r) 915GM/GMS (256 MB) that is not working properly (it might be made of the mechanical shock or high temperature, do not know, but I'm sure it's something on the hardware). I reinstalled my OS (and then replaced by another), updated my drivers but nothing changes. Then appears a BSOD evoking the video driver files I try to restart it many times because the screen guard shutted down (in black). Now, the video card is disabled, and it works normally. I want to just replace it if it is possiblle. I said * TOSHIBA Satellite M70, Intel (r) 915GM / GMS *.

Thanks for your answers in advance, and sorry for the mistakes (I'm not English)!

Thanks for the suggestions.  I had already updated to the latest version of the bios.  It did not help.  It turns out that when you upgrade the 8100 elite to an i7 to add a separate video card.  This is why I am getting 6 beeps.  Thanks for the help.

    Hello

NVIDIA GTX 7xx or 9xx series graphics cards will not work in your PC.  The BIOS in "chicago" mothererboard is not compatible with the video BIOS in the graphics card.  You will need to get an older card chart such as the one of the below listed OEM HP graphics cards. Depending on the graphics card, you may need to replace the power suplly.
