HP EliteBook 820 G3: HP EliteBook 820 G3 - no USB Boot

Hello

I have a HP EliteBook 820 G3 which was working fine a few days ago and now I can't boot from a USB key.

I put the USB Boot BIOS and any type of USB, I try and no matter what USB Port I try I can not show USB boot F9 option menu.

The stick, I'm trying to start is a stick of SCCM Boot to BIOS devices (non-uefi).

I tried a fomatted UEFI, one to make sure that it was not the problem and it made no difference.

In my cube, I have a ton of HP hardware and all begin this exact stick even without problem.

But even if the stick did not form correctly it should still show USB as an option in the Menu start with the BIOS configured to boot from it.

I have reset the BIOS settings, I disabled the USB Boot box then restarted and places back.

I have flashed the BIOS to the latest version and that made no difference.

When the machine starts the operating system correctly shows the contents of the flash player.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

False problem.

A factory more reset BIOS seems to have understood that it works.

  • HP Elitebook 8570p - Windows XP USB very slow and the transfer rate performance issues.

Hello. I was wondering if anyone else knows some performance issues with the HP Elitebook 8570p and Windows XP Pro - SP3.

I get a VERY slow start, general poor performance (waiting time when opening files and programs).

I asked to burn in tests that show that everything is good.

USB transfer rates are VERY slow (tried all ports of a Seagate FreeAgent USB drive, which works fine on other laptops etc.) for example a 30-minute transfer a 7gig single file of the USB HD on the desktop. Only 3 minutes to do the same on another laptop.

I think there are problems with the drivers, like Windows 7 works very well and does boot from a bootable USB.

USB transfer rate are also good when starting from a Windows boot environment.

I installed HP SoftPaq Download Manager, and all the drivers are up to date.

    Hello:

I think outside of the box here... Select the Intel (r) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller instead.

If it does not, I raise the white flag.

  • EliteBook: can I use a boot cd on a portable computer with disk encryption?

Windows is sprinkled on a laptop with disc encryption.  Is there a way I can use a boot cd to access the drive?  I want to get some files off it first.

    Ok.

Then the simplest solition would be to remove the hard drive, put in a drive enclosure hard or on a USB to SATA connector.

Now you can plug it into a usb port of another Windows PC or laptop to your business.

Use Windows Explorer to access the disk. When the encryption key is requested, type it in.

  • EliteBook 840: unable to boot from usb flash

    Hello:

I'm tempted to boot from USB drive to install a new version of Windows 7. When I press F9, I have only two startup options:

    -Computer portable hard drive

    -Computer laptop Ethernet

The USB boot option do not appear.

My BIOS Version is: 01.04 worm. M71 (24/02/2015)

Note: I tested my USB key installation in the other laptop and it works very well.

    Thank you for your support.

Yes, I know Rufus. How I said, I tried my USB in another laptop (a HP ENVY m4 laptop) and work very well. The difference is that the HP ENVY gave me the option to boot from USB and the EliteBook does not.

I realized that, since the post, you did.

I suggested RUFUS and EFI create setup of windows due to the startup problem, that you have with the Elitebook 840.

It may be just what you need for this particular laptop.

If you want this to work, then you must be flexible and willing to solve the problems.

  • dv4t-5100 (A9Q30AV): HP DV4t-1500 recovery

1A the question: How can I use the Image on a recovery partition (D to repair the Image of the Win7 OS (C without having to start first in Image OS Win7?))  I was able to create a system repair disc, while the system has been started in Win7 temporarily.

Question 1(b): can I first try to fix just the Win 7 OS image (C vs did a new install (destroys all the data for the current user and installed SW)?)  I guess I boot the system by using the system repair disc/DVD (boot change to have the DVD to boot before the start of the HARD drive).

Question 2: Is there a way to create a set of Win 7 OS install disc (DVD - Windows 7 64B Recovery Kit/3 DVD) using the Image to install on the recovery Partition (D without boot in Win 7 OS and running the Recovery Manager (rebecca.exe) on my system dv4t (for example copy/replace the Recovery Partion on my g6 Pavillion) with the data of my Partition Recovery dv4t (D.))  See bleow options to copy the recovery Partition (file copying or using Copy Utility, then the HARD disk partition)?  I already created the for the g6 Pavilion recovery disk, but not the dv4t).

    Background

-Blue system projected with a Kernel error and would not reboot (Normal Mode and Safe Mode) again.  Ran offline SMART test drive HARD fast/short, stopped with error 303 (Toshiba 2.5 HDD 500 MB).  Indicates that the HARD drive is dying.

-Deletion of dv4t HDD and mounted on my Elitebook 8460p using a USB 2.0 to SATA adapter.

-J' have managed to copy all files from the user, I was interested on a 1 TB portable HARD drive (~ 320GB).  Now able to painfully deliver my whole system (new install, reinstall all the SW, then put data into the required location/directories).  Not as desirable that repair Win 7 OS image and then make a System Image backup, replace the HARD drive and restore the System Image backup.

-Ran chkdsk on the drive HARD dv4t (read-only).  No problem with step 1 (checking files).  Step 2 (checking index) were 4 errors (all the same index/130$, 2 files 94467 and 270145 impacted).

-Ran chkdsk/f, to correct the errors.  Index corrected $ 130, both files 94467 and 270145 adjusted.  In stage 2, after

SD/SIDs checked and checked the USN Journal, he has spent a lot of time correcting errors in the Volume Bitmap.  I left the program before he completed the correction of the Volume bitmap (took more than one night).

-After the chkdsk /f.  I put the HARD drive in the dv4t and he was able to start completely new in Win 7 (normal start-up).

-C' is when I created the system repair disc)

-system was very slow.  responds very slowly.  I did not start the Recovery Manager (rebecca.exe).

-After a while, the system crashed again, I was not able to completely reboot in Win 7.

((- for restart, see you file loading, logo Win 7, then finally will get message that Windows did start no successuflly the last time, then option 1) repair BONE or 2) normal start.

-made him remove the disk HARD again, ran chkdsk in read-only, view errors, error correction.  Now, I have been through a few iterations of it.  I have failed to launch the Recovery Manager to start the creation of the recovery for the dv4t diskette.

-knowledge I can order the Kit for $25 HP recovery disk (you can assume that I used to work for HP for a long time).

-I would first try to repair the image of Win 7 OS first before giving up and do a fresh install and destroy all the data on the C: partition (I'll also have to replace the HARD drive, when the time comes).

    Thank you

    -

    I have 2 laptops: Pavillion dv4t and g6.

I have a set of recovery disks (5 DVD) created the G6 on for the g6.

My dv4t does not start in Windows 7.  I don't have to create the recovery disk (3 installation DVD with the operating system disc) before their start dv4t.   I was able to create a system for the dv4t repair disc, but did not create set of recovery disks (3 DVDs, including the OS image and peripheral dv4t installable drivers).  The recovery Partition (D of the dv4t HDD doesn't have a problem (chkdsk passes).)

Why can't I fly over the recovery Partition dv4t to Pavillion g6 HARD drive using Disk Imaging software like Acronis to off the shelf and then start the g6 Pavillion and run Recovery Manager (rebecca.exe) and create the dv4t Recovery Disc Set (3 DVD)?

    Thank you

  • 3rd party msi installers fail to install on windows 7

I am unable to install any software that uses an .msi extension. For example, Endnote X 3 fails to install with Error 1935 in Microsoft.VC90.CRT. This happens also with Python 2.6.1. All these errors occur at the stage of 'publication '. In addition, some updates do not settle - like XML SP2. My installed updates screen is also blank. I'm running Win 7 Ultimate on a HP elitebook 8530w with a dual boot Win XP.

  • EliteBook 820 G2: Start from USB - does not take into account my choice and starts hard disk anyway!

    Hi all!

I just got a new EliteBook 820 G2 and I'm trying to dual boot with Ubuntu. I have it on a USB hard drive that I used to install successfully on a couple other machines (dual-boot a Lenovo T430 and also on a desktop AMD new construction). I cannot go into the options to start with Esc or F9 and the disk appears, but there just ignores it and goes straight to Windows.

I don't have the partitioned external drive, then perhaps that he is not the right one? Seems funny that he would have worked on two other systems, but perhaps a quirk of the HP BIOS? I don't have a simple USB key with sufficient capacity to hold the installer, but do you think I should try to borrow one for that?

For any help or suggestions appreciated!

    See you soon,.

    Joe.

    Hi, Joe:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to go into the BIOS and see if there is a setting to auto USB for USB3 ports.

If it is set to USB3, you cannot start normally port USB3.

USB3 can be the default setting.

The auto adjustment allows the ports work as two USB3 ports when you run windows, and the USB3 drivers are loaded or USB2 ports when not in Windows (for example, when you need to boot from a USB flash drive).
