HP elitebook 8570w: advise the hard drive upgrade

Hello

Recently, my hard drive stopped with the work. I have a HP elitebook 8570w. The current hard drive that had a 7200 RPM. Now, I noticed my laptop starts heating fast enough. I was wondering what hard drive, I could choose to prevent this from happening so fast.

Should I choose a SSD driver?

They are faster than a HARD drive?
They produce less heat, less power?

Should I choose a hard disk of variable?
I read that they are mainly used for NAS servers, would also be a good choice for a laptop?

I am looking for a new drive hard and then I'm picking why take an upgrade.

I hope you can answer my question and may have a few speculative.

Thanks in advance

You can find an Evo 850 to the Netherlands.

SATA 300 is SATA II SATA 150 SATA-I and SATA 600 is SATA-III.

Do not place too much emphasis on the difference. A SSD SATA-III is compatible with any computer laptop SATA version.

  • Need advice with the hard drive upgrade

    Greetings Applelonians:

I bought a new HD 480 GB SSD for my 15 MBP (to 2011) to try to help improve the performance and install it myself. I'm hoping to get some tips on the sequences necessary for install and then restore my files Office 2011. (I've known slowness notable speed as well as issues of program Outlook-so think I should try to start more as fresh as possible).

I'm clear on the mechanical steps to install the drive, but there seems to be a few options on the side of software I found. I have a copy of Snow Leopard, which came with my MBP, so in theory I think I should be able to install an operating system from scratch, and then do the upgrades, right?

I also have a SATA cable / USB, I see that some have used to clone the existing HD. As mentioned above, I think I should start with a new installation of the operating system (which simply Mac store recommended for $80 there), so I don't think that cloning is the best option.

    Here are my questions:

    (1) if I install the new HD, because it is out of the box, and then insert my Snow Leopard, which will load the necessary drivers required? or do I need to format the drive (on the outside?) before you install it?

    (2) I have a Time Machine recent backup contains all my critical data that I need to restore (for most all files MS Office 2011). I was intending to do a new installation of Office 2011 after the installation of the HD and then restore my Office files from the external backup of TM. I wonder if the TM backup contains only files, or if it also contains the actual programs (e.g. office). If the latter, is there another method I use to transfer other files that a full restore?

    (3) also in this sense, once I get El Capitan, installed on the new disk, my TM of Yosemite Backup is in conflict with that?

Thanks in advance for any comments and help!

I recommend to format the new external SSD for Mac OS extended (journaled) and either use Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner to load the data on the new SSD.  Installation of Snow Leopard is not necessary.

Hello, I saw a dealer offed: Trekstore 500 GB HDD at 7200 RPM ide, he could work on my laptop Satellite A80-135?
    Thanks in advance.

I m not 100% sure, but I think this old Satellite phone has old HDD with IDE bus master, so it can be upgraded up to 120 GB only.

  • Satellite A50-111 - HARD drive upgrade

    Hello!

I need to upgrade hard drive of my laptop because it is very slow. However, I know it's a 60 GB to factory-installed 4200 RPM.
I'm ready to be upgraded to a fast 7200 RPM, if possible, with a decent capacity, but I'm not sure of the supported hard drive type (IDE?, 2.5?) is a model of 5 years. In my view, there are incompatibilities with the laptops today, hard drive formats, so I really need help.
Thank you very much for your help!

    Hey Buddy,

In my opinion the HARD drive upgrade will not increase performance well then you should try the other options first as reinstalling Windows, or upgrade the RAM.

Anyway, Satellite A50 use IDE interface, so you can use hard disks of 120 GB of disk space.
Of course, you can take a model at 7200 RPM, but they need more energy and produce more noise.
    I recommend a 120 GB 5400 RPM model. That s pretty fast!

  • iMac 21.5 "retina - HARD drive upgrade and / or install the Fusion drive?

    Hi all

I recently bought a retina-iMac 21.5 "(fin 2015 obvs), without realizing it when I did so that it came with a slow hard disk 5400 RPM that will larn me - do your research the next time Cameron!" In any case, I'm trying to sell it, but my search for a buyer continues, I also try to establish - without much success until now - if a hard drive upgrade and/or installation of a fusion player any is possible. I am aware that the RAM in this model is not extensible.

    Any entry received with gratitude

Although it is possible it is a company very difficult and will void any warranty future and Apple. Have you thought from the external drive Thunderbolt?

  • upgrade the hard drive on Presario 17XL365

Inherited this machine recently and I was wondering if I can upgrade the hard drive.  He got a Hitachi DK23BA-15 which is ATA - 66.  But I read that the chipset of the motherboard will be ' interface with ATA/66 hard drives in UDMA 2 mode "-a description of the site intel (North 82443BX/South 82371EB).  Intel® 440BX AGPset.

So my question is, any laptop drive ide or eide will work with this?  Or I need to find a player who is specificially ATA-66.  Any info on the momentum and the size limitations would also be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

It's a record of 4200 RPM 15 gigabytes. You can use any portable player of up to 120 gig eide, but not anymore. Anyway, you would benefit from a rotational speed of 5400 RPM which is what you can find in the market these days, but will not improve your ATA - 66 maximum transfer speed. The most recent ATA - 100 or 133 readers interfacera just at the speed of 66 but faster speed of rotation of the drive will always access same time help lower transfer speed if that makes sense.

The number of ATA - 66 is just the maximum theoretical speed, which you reach rarely, in any case.

  • Upgrade the hard drive in the Libretto U100 to SSD drive

Anyone who undertakes an upgrade of the hard drive in a Libretto U100 to a SSD? This would surely greatly improve performance. What size is the hard drive in the U100 and which connector is used to connect the drive? Can anyone tell if this mod is possible?

    Spymaster

So, I have a machine with an SSD (Tecra M5) and it works like a charm. Unfortunately, the discs are too expensive at the moment but you can benefit from a real performance.

Regarding your question: should be possible. You have a 1.8 inch drive "installed and there are SSDS which have almost the same form factor. Usually the U100 was delivered with MK6006GAH or MK3006GAL disks.

Here´s a site that might help, given that the reader has the same connector as the disc in your computer: http://www.dvnation.com/microatapics.html

  • Upgrade the HARD drive to SSD

So in late 2014 I bought Macbook pro 2014 that contains one of the latest computers in this line in order to start the HARD drive. The other day my HD crashed and I need to buy a new one that would give me the opportunity to upgrade to an SSD. What would exactly be the best SSD replacement that would work well with my computer? All I really want is something that will work well with the macbook, I have now.

    That's the one I was thinking about buying, but I just wanted another opinion http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Gaming-2-5-Inch-Internal-ST500LM000/dp/B00B99JU5M? ie = UTF8 & PSC = 1 & redirect = true & ref_ = ox_sc_a...

The product you have listed will work fine on your macbook pro. But you must be aware that the hard disk you have in mind is NOT pure SSD,.

It is a 'hybrid' SSD + HDD, it is much cheaper than a 500GB SSD habit. for example, the samsung EVO 850 costs $150.

The hybrid approach basically means a great 'flash memory' (in seagate device is 8 GB) is built into the hard drive.

and smart algorithms runs in this regard to cache your files frequently used in this flash memory is faster than a traditional HARD drive.

It is still until you think is best for you.

  • Satellite A300-1mz I use the recovery disks after an upgrade of the HARD drive?

I'm upgrading the disk hard of my * toshiba a300-1mz *, but I am sure that I can use the * recovery disks * marked the first boots to the l.o. (vista)

    I expect your support...
    Thank you very much...

    Hello

    Yes, you can do it!
If the HARD drive has been recognized by the BIOS, then you should boot from the recovery disk Toshiba in order to reinstall the operating system which has been pre-installed by Toshiba.

  • Satellite U205-S5002: cannot retrieve the Express Media Player after upgrading the HARD drive

So I bought just a new Toshiba Satellite U205-S5002 I love it. One of the great features that interest me was the Express Media Player feature.

My first step was to upgrade the hard disk and 160 GB and 2 GB ram.
I placed the disk and ram in my old laptop and sold it.

Before that I did, I made a copy ghosts and ghost of the hard drive to the new drive. Well come to find out...

Toshiba is not provided with this software preinstalled, so I followed the instructions to burn my recovery disk Express Media Player and the boot on the new disk.
So this is where the saga begins...

After 15-20 seconds, I get a soothing blue screen (NOT of blue BSOD you mind) who says:

    /!\
An error occurred during the recovery of "Express Media Player".
    -------------------------------------------------------
Please pick up the image again from the beginning.
    Press any key to exit.

It is typed exactly as it is on the screen. So, I see some other forums saying: you must have the free space of the disk so I resize the partition that allows 200 MB of space. Always the same... then try 2 GB even... then the 50 GB, same problem...

OK, so obviously not a question of space. I read while I might need to erase the drive... so I delete the partition, this same error... then I run the recovery disk and tell him to wipe the drive, wait 1 1/2 hour, it ends. No dice! So I decide... ok... Well lets try another disk... I have restored my ghost image... and burned the image again... same question... so I decide to the recovery disk and I'll try to reinstall windows in the factory and make a record...

Well, it does not work as well as you think... the image is incomplete... windows works fine... but the c:\Toshiba\ExpressMediaPlayer folder is empty!

I'm happy that I have ghosts my original directory. But I decide allows to Express Media Player a shot more now that I have restored to factory... always the same error... I then decide a trial more... I'll erase drive 1.5 hours, I'll restore from toshiba dvd provided but leaving plenty of space at the end 2 GB (I have a lot about people who tell you to base just around 200 MB)

5 hours later... moment of truth... Well Yes you guessed it... I don't know anything else to try... I have a bad image?
You need one that I can download what has worked for them for sure? Or have - I have completely found myself by replacing the HDD with after market and which is originally a kind of compatibility issue?

    Thank you in advance.
    Gabe at supergeekz dot com

    Hello

    It s a great story!
I put t know how to start so maybe first some info on the Express media player.

As you said, and has already proposed the Express media player has been preinstalled on the second partition.
If you want to install this media Express on the HARD disk drive, 150-200 MB of free space must be available. This free space must be on the end of the HARD drive and there must be unallocated.
To get these free space on the HARD disk, 3 third-party products should be used as for example the Partitions Magic 8!

I'm not going to write a story how to recover the Express media player because Toshiba has already created useful documents, which described complete installation!
I found these documents in the knowledge base of computer Toshiba:

  • Satellite 1130: How to upgrade the HARD drive?

I want to spend the hard drive from my old laptop Satellite 1130. But the manual to write that it is fixed, could I ask if I can update and how to?

    Thank you

    Hello

HARD drive upgrade is possible on each unit. The HARD disk must be placed under the optical media drive. Optical media drive is fixed with a screw on the underside. Remove this screw and you will be able to opt out of the Bay.

HARD disk itself is fixed by four screws.

Please don't do anything if you n t have experience with it, because everything you do to yourself is at your own risk.

    Good luck!

  • Upgrade the HARD drive, memory and display on Satellite A30 921 driver

I got a model a30-921, satellite phone for two years now. I would ask someone who could help me how to put my hard drive from 40 to the majority and the memory to 1 g. and also where can I find the latest driver for ati mobility radeon igp 9000.

Thank you and looking forward to here from you soon.

    Hi Remelito,

I use a 80 GB hard drive in my SA30 and I suspect it would probably work with a 100 GB drive. However, as portable hard drives tend to suffer ruptures busiest I think their close office 80 GB is perfectly o.k. for me. I tend to have 25-30 GB used with the rest of the temporary files during editing of the videos etc. The hard drive in the A30 is usually under the optical drive to remove all first in order to access the hard drive.

Your A30 can be upgraded to a maximum of 2 GB of RAM in two slots. Currently, you will have 2 X 128 MB or 2 X 256 MB modules of RAM installed. You can get the modules of memory in the sizes of 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB or 1 GB. the following URL provides information on reference numbers (the United Kingdom site), but you can Google for a suitable provider.

Toshiba unfortunately do not provide regular updates to their display drivers (at least in my experience). Like you, I have an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000IGP in my SA30 and I resorted to a driver Omega catalyst in order to play newer games. I ran this Omega driver for many months now with still no Bul. You can obtain this driver from: -.

  • Upgrade the hard drive or the new laptop

I currently own a mid-2010 Macbook Pro that works well (Apple store ran all the checks and he said everything was good), but there almost six years and I don't want to die any time soon (I need a laptop for school). I do not use the mac for something other than Microsoft Office, several tabs on browser, iTunes and occasionally streaming of netflix (just the basics, no game or something serious). Someone has advice or comments on what would be best? And if upgrading the hard drive seems to be a good option, does anyone have good recommendations?

Here are the specs of my Mac:
-Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
    -Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    -Hard drive: 500 GB storage

In addition, Yosemite (10.10.5) running on the machine without any problem even if it is sometimes slow.

    Thank you!

Use it as it is. Why update the drive? If you run lack of storage space on the disk, delete some files or get an external drive and move some files on the external drive. Make sure that you back up your data.

  • How to upgrade the size of the hard drive and transfer all THE OS/software/data (image) of the original disk?

HP desktop with a HDD normal computer. Win Vista 64-bit Windows.  But the question is generic for another one with Win7 and another with XP.

The problem is that I want to do is to replace the hard drive with a new fresh Plus unit.  I want to keep exactly the same software as that on the original disc.   I want to know how to transfer data from the old disk to the new image.   I remember the old days BACK to copy just the files copy very well, but OS files data files and startup records, etc. etc. should be in areas on the disk, so you can not just copy the.  I know there are software packages ghosts to even a backup image to a computer, to recharge on a true double drive on a death warrant of the disc, but is it the same path to use for an upgrade?   Then, there will be no problem with MS or others by looking at the serial number of the disc material and decide on their software are installed on a new machine without a license?  etc.

All experienced suggestions would be appreciated.

IE brand disks: Seagate, WD, and a few others provide the software with the package of disk or from the Web site that allows cloning on the same drive size, but for a larger drive.  Acronis will be similar.  As long as the size of the disk is not unreasonable, they do it quite easily.  Depending on the age of the system, however, some may not tolerate the readers more great or the more recent huge 2 TB.

  • Pavilion 15 ab128na: hard drive upgrade from the Pavilion 15-ab128na

    Hello

I am buying a laptop computer ab128na Pavilion 15 and wanted to know about upgrade capabilities.

It comes with a disc of M.2 256 GB SSD but it maybe a bit small. Is there room for an additional HARD disk drive (such as the gaming notebook pavilion)? So I, for example, M.2 256 GB SSD drive and a 1 TB HARD drive.

Or the model allows only for 1 hard drive, so I have to replace the SSD drive, it comes with a larger capacity SSD?

    Thanks in advance

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

This manual explains Star Wars Edition and the 15-ab128na sharing the same internals with this model.

The problem is if your laptop comes with just the MSSD m2 I don't think they understand the mounting kit for a 2.5-inch hard drive. You must purchase the part on the secondary market in some way.

Kit hardware hard drive (supports and connector) 809296-001

In addition, access to the hard drive Bay is a bit of a chore and put security at risk.

But to directly answer your question, the laptop is designed to have a m2 and the SATA 2.5 inch disk at the same time.

You could also install a HDD as pure storage using the slot of the DVD drive with an adapter. Of course, you lose the optical drive but I find myself with mine very rarely these days, anyway. Use of this Bay, the warranty will not be affected.
