HP EliteDesk 2 800 LTS: BIOS refuses to activate Legacy Boot

I tried boot Legacy enable and disable the Secure boot on this machine for a few days now.  My current BIOS version is 2.05 N01 11/11/2015.  It's the strangest thing.  I am able to make changes, save and make the switch successfully... but I can not inherited to activate and save.  I took action:

-Authorized secure boot key - Reset

-Selected Legacy allow to support and secure startup disable - Reset

-Go back to BIOS Boot Options-->--> try to uncheck UEFI Boot Order (impossible)--> checks if Legacy Boot is available and this is a no go

- Then come back for secure boot options and check that any of my changes saved.

I tried to restore the Version of Bios to 2.04 but that made no difference so I put 2.05 back.

I am looking for these machines to perform a PXE boot to capture the image of our school district, but I need to boot Legacy has to do.  After several attempts to get the inheritance to allow, I decided to simply use our Win7 Ent disk BUT cannot do as he says the "boot image selected not to is not authenticated."  Of course the difficulty I found that it was to allow Legacy Boot... which I can't do.

I looked through the forums and found some possible solutions, but none of them have worked.  Help, please!

Thanks for the reply.  I ended up doing the following, who worked finally(not sure why):

-Updated BIOS back to V 02.05

-reset back to the factory settings in the main menu

-in the bios, set the password and return the tag property, as required by the school district, I work for---> restart

-back in the peripheral disabled bios bootable usb and cd rom (as is the political district of tech)

-went to ensure startup and selected options in the menu drop-down 'enable and disable the UEFI boot'--> restart

-return to the bios, THIS TIME the check box next to the legacy menu startup options was available.  I checked the box and could also uncheck boot UEFI--> restart

-f12 to PXE boot and magically it finally worked

Again, it is very similar to the process that I tried at the beginning that the only difference was the amount of reboots needed to get it done.  I had a similar problem with another 800 G2 and no matter what I did it would not be PXE boot so I have restored the version of the bios on 02.04, restore factory settings and the process I just oultined above.  AND IT has WORKED on this machine.  It's a matter of incompatible with the G2s 50 or so 800 our district bought last month.

In any case, we are able to get these machines for a PXE boot using one of two methods that I have just mentioned.  We are so good at the moment.  Thanks again for your response.

    Hi all

We recently received a sample Elitedesk 800 G2 unit so that we can tailor our solution for OS deployment him before that people in our society early buying.

We use the PXE-boot legacy for deployments so I wanted to set up the machine to make Legacy Boot and set the inherited from PXE first boot order.

Since there is no documentation or the help that I could find, it is a process of trial and error.

I finally managed to get boot inherited the machine by setting secure boot "Enable and disable secure boot" "Advanced" slot and allows the setting "secure boot claire keys»

After a reboot, I was able to disable UEFI and configure the boot order inherited as you wish. Everything worked well.

To validate the procedure I returned the machine back to factory defaults and tried to follow the same steps, but now the parameter 'start secured clear keys' are grayed out and I can't set 'enable and disable secure boot '.

Anyone know how I can get back to boot legacy now? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I thought about it myself, it's for the benefit of third parties:

to switch from secure boot UEFI Legacy Boot on Elitedesk 800 G2 (and others with the same firmware):

    F10-configuration of the BIOS

'Advanced' - 'secure boot configuration', set 'key to secure clear boot '.

    Save & Reboot

machine you ask for a code, enter it and restart.

    F10-configuration of the BIOS

    "Advanced" - "" secure boot configuration ".

    Select 'enable legacy support '.

    Save & Reboot

    F10-configuration of the BIOS

Startup options: Disable 'UEFI boot order' and activate/configure "boot order of inheritance.

    Save & Reboot

Yes, 4 reboots are required unless there is a quicker way that I don't know.

  • EliteDesk 800 G2: SSD will allow only boot UEFI and not appear as a legacy boot option.

    Hello

My company is the purchase of HP EliteDesk 800 G2, some comes with HARD drive and some with SSDS.

Deploy us Windows 7 x 64 using SCCM using legacy startup.

On a machine with installed HARD drive, I can configure the startup options to use legacy boot, but when I replaced the drive to an SSD the only option to start for this drive is UEFI.

This causes the deployment fails because the player needs to be partitioned as TPG.

On the other hand, if I disable the legacy, the UEFI boot PXE boot and partition the drive as GPT, after the deployment of a disk image is unable to start with error 0xc000000d (I guess that the cause is supported in Windows 7 because it does not work on Windows 8.1).

Bottom line, I can install Windows 7 on a HP EliteDesk 800 G2 only if start legacy is enabled and I have partition the drive as UEFI.

Is it possible to force the SSD at startup like legacy and not UEFI?

This problem results from the workstation or is it applied by the SSD?

    Thank you.

    Hi Jay,.

I appreciate you are trying to help.

I guess that there are some problems of communication because it is a business problem and there are other technical components involved that I don't understand.

After some research more, it seems that this problem occurs with a specific model of SSD.

We'll just have to wait for HP support.

    Thank you.

  • Elitedesk 800 LTS G1 reboot on its own

    Hello

We have 20 units of Elitedesk 800 G1 SFF; running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.  One unit, an intermittent problem.

Use Shutdown of Windows, the computer turns off.  Some time later, during the night, it turns back on.

Interesting note: we have a power-password set in the BIOS and turning on the results of the computer at a password prompt.  When this unit restarts randomly, it seems to bypass the password and goes directly to screen ctrl alt del to log into Windows.

I tried to turn off all "wake" options I find for the NIC, the mouse, the BIOS settings and even tried the registry to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon «PowerdownAfterShutdown» hack

The BIOS, Chipset are updated, as are all the other drivers offered by HP.

I witnessed the restart once - I stopped, looked at the front of the computer, all the lights were out, and it restarted.  I had not touched a thing.  Of course, I him didn't restart like that in front of me again. :-\

    Additional ideas?

  • 800 LTS G1 EliteDesk: windows 10

I bought 15 of these EliteDesk 800 pc for a customer. The customer wants 10 installed windows, but there is no media installation for it. Do I really need to download and activate on every pc or can I clone after the 1 upgrade? Or is there a download for the windows recovery 10 install?

    Hello

Again, you have to talk with Microsoft, cloning of 1 machine to other machines will not work. 10 Windows will check the material and will not work. Microsoft can only open the door for you.

  • Equium A60 BIOS update: what is the Boot Mode?

Due to problems with my graphics ATI I have to do a BIOS update. To do my computer (Equium A60 PSA67E) apparently needs to be in mode 'start-up', NOT 'repeat mode '. In a previously sent forum somebody said the computer just "should be turned off" but I'm still not sure of how go to this mode. Is it just a case to go to the start menu, click on shut down the computer and turn off the computer again? But how do you know when it is in mode 'start '?
Question: How do in boot mode? (I tried the update in 'safe' mode and it does not work)

    Hello

Boot mode is meaning stop the laptop (BONE).
It is important that the laptop is not in stand mode or hibernation mode.
You just simply close the unit. That s all ;)

  • Satellite A20: BIOS update to support USB booting

    Hello

Does anyone know if there is a version of BIOS for a satellite A20 that supports booting from USB devices (except the drive, because that is already supported)

I need this is because my cd drive is bust. And I'm a student, so I can't afford a new intern, but I have an external... So I want to use that one for the recovery process...

I don't know if I can ask this, but can't I somehow change the bios that it WILL support the external dvd drive, I know this is not recommended at all, but I'm really really desperate :(

    Can someone help me?

As far as I know that something like that does not exist. Your laptop is quite old and there is not much support for her especially BIOS support.

Try to find the MS-DOS driver for this hard disk external. Start the laptop with floppy and use this driver for your external device from the device.

  • Satellite problem BIOS L750 - cannot change the boot sequence

    Hello reader/answering my questions.
I am having trouble with my 750 ODN bios. This bios is an official update (3.6) from the center of support, and almost everything has been fine since (the plot thickens!). I decided one day I want to dual boot with linux, in particular Fedora (this is unrelated to this though).

But, when I burned the disc and tried to direct (too test) boot the boot order has been on hard drive, first of all, I found! I rebooted and pressed f12 - did not work.
I tried to delete and escape - neither worked. Then, I tried all the f keys - none of them worked.
Whenever he took me to the Windows Start menu, and I explored it and I could not find anything.

It is also important to mention that I'm under Win 7 SP1.
I tried both PLoP and osloader (too boot from the dvd) - neither worked.
I also do not remember what the button to start the bios was originally - Oops!

Also toshiba with instructions logo never appears.
I would really just change the order of boot however, the rest of the bios I don't need access too much right now.

A separate issue is that Windows randomly decides he wants to check my hard drive, which takes forever, and he won't until he arrives to check it out. I think it may need medical help.

But, no help, a qualified doctor or not, would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance
    Mitchell

    Hello

    > I also don't remember what the button to start the bios was originally - Oops!

Pressing F2 by turning on the device could help you access the BIOS.
But you do not need to change the boot order in the BIOS. You can do it by pressing F12. This should be done immediately after you have turned on the laptop.
Then the start menu appears and you can choose the right boot device.

    Does it function?

  • Update BIOS to M3450 with secure boot

I have an Acer Aspire M3450 with an FX processor. I just read windows 10 will need a UEFI bios that supports support secure startup. There is an update on the Acer PO1.4A site. This update contains the UEFI update? The system I have now has UEFI but is 1.3 I believe and the new UEFI is 2.4. I ran the upgrade for windows 8.1 Advisor and he told me the same thing on my version of bios and no secure boot.

I forgot to mention that my current bios is PO1. A2
