I recently bought a laptop from HP Envy 13-d008na. It works well; However, I now encountered a problem with the fingerprint sensor. Hello Windows and HP SimplePass worked brilliantly so far - I've used them frequently to log into my laptop, as well as online accounts.

For the first time, my fingerprint was not recognized and I tried several times before finally shrugging it off and connect with my password. However, it was when the fingerprint reader has first 'broken' and has not worked since.

When I discovered this, naturally I removed my footprint of the system and tried to sign up again. I succumbed this making, like the HP SimplePass software gets only 45% trying to register my fingerprints! I feel like this may be a hardware problem - of course, there is no physical evidence of damage, but my experience with the problems of this kind, my best guess is that the fingerprint reader is defective and it should reset.

The player flashes always white on an application for entry, red when the shot is not valid and still going from red to white when I move my finger on it, in a way that was "successful", before it stopped working.

I tried everything I can think of. Completely removed and resettled biometric drivers and software from the HP support page, registered/player replaced all fingerprints and even tried using older versions of SimplePass to try to solve this problem.

The warranty is still valid of course (I only had the laptop for a few weeks!), but it would be great if there was a solution which avoids me having to go through the hassle to send it off for repairs!

I read your message and understand that the fingerprint reader no longer works on your HP Envy 13 d008na. I appreciate the detail you have included in your message. I see you have done some troubleshooting yourself some of the steps in the document can seem you repetitive, but to achieve the resolution that I would recommend that they are executed in the order.

First, follow the instructions contained in this document.

    If you want to convert Word files to PDF with the Adobe Reader application then it is possible with the service Pack of PDF. Try to use the service on the web: https://cloud.acrobat.com/convertpdf

    Looks like you have somehow the mac version.

    I have digital fingerprints installation to the system via the Toshiba fingerprint utility. Several times I can wake up the Portege of sleep or turn it on, fingerprints from the BIOS is accepted, after which appears logon screen in Win7 and in some cases, I'm able to connect automatically to this account. In some cases just system is pending, it is not possible to login with the password. I restart phone, sometimes more than once.

    Uninstall again pilot fingerprinting and the software with the same method as you have used before.

    You must download and install fingerprint software to use the fingerprint reader. The Client Security Solution software is not required to use the fingerprint reader. I don't know that the tab will be activated as soon as the fingerprint software is installed. You can also use the system update to download/install the fingerprint software and other software for your computer.

    You can also toggle the fingerprint reader in the BIOS. When you turn on the computer and you see the Thinkpad logo, you can press F1 to access the BIOS and check if the fingerprint reader is disabled or not.

    Which driver version you are using on Vista and Windows 7? My Qosmio F50 is running Windows 7 and I m using the version of the driver on Toshiba page 1.00.29.02.
    You use the same version?

    In addition, it would be interesting to know if the SD card has worked once you have received the notebook service center back. Have you tested before or did you start installation recovery immediately?

    Have you tried different brands of SD cards? I always use the SanDisk Extreme cards because they did not no problem.

    Have you tried to update the driver of the card reader? If not you should do this because normally the error code 38 means that the driver can t be loaded for this device correctly. Resettlement should work

    I'm reading device data using usb - BT dongle. It creates the virtual port and read without problem.

    My problem is the packages to send 428 bytes, inside this block device, I have 400 bytes of data bytes 9 to 409. The first 3 bytes of each block is the same.

    4 45 50 - MEP, they are the first 3 bytes of each block of 428 bytes.

    Okay, if you check the vi I config the visa and sending the data of adjustment of the device, read the answer and it sends the data to start sendding data.

    Well, I try to read each block of 428 and show in a chart.

    The problem is sometimes bytes in ports are 428 and anothers shows 23, 2, 125,... is not continuous 428 bytes each iteration and destroy the data graphic.

    IF I check the chart outside of the main loop, I see the correct graph. Apart from mainvi I collect whole data and separate in 428 blocks, extract the 400 bytes of data and analyze the entire signed 16 bit and display in the graphics.

    So, I don't know the best way to get 428 bytes in each iteration... I tried to read directly the 428 bytes but sometimes fail once again, very low reading bytes... take time to wait before read bytes to each iteration. I need a way to get 428 before values to get the readings of 400 data. Even I could probe each beginning of block with 4 D 4550 HEX bytes to pass and got data...

    Perhaps it would be better to use the wait? or using a while loop to wait until I had 428 bytes? Any help will be apprecite.

    You receive binary data.  Therefore, turn off the the stop character.

    What happens is that you actually 0x0D in your data.  Playback VISA who sees and then request's made it reading the data.  By turning it off, then reading VISA will read all 428 bytes or until a time-out occurs.

    Let the constant instead of the bytes to the Port.

  • Startup problem; XP continuously restarts. Can not read files

    I have a problem starting with a computer that running Windows XP SP1a upgrade to SP3. It belongs to another Member of my family, which has switched off the power when a BOUNCING mouse problem has prevented the normal shutdown procedure.  At startup, it shows the screen boot options that if I choose "Safe Mode" or "Start Windows normally" it loads normally to the point where it shows the screen of flying windows for a while, becomes empty briefly, then restarts.

    I tried to leave, he in Repair Mode using the Windows Setup disc in the hope to repair the startup files, but have problems to read the files on the C; drive. If I try to look at the records, or change to a different folder, I get the error messages like "invalid drive specification" or "an error occurred during directory enumeration" I guess that's because the XP SP1a installation disc which I use can not handle the 80 GB hard drive and the NTFS file format.

    Is it possible I can get access to the boot files

    I solved the problem

    After the announcement of this question, I ran CHKDSK from the repair mode and it corrects an error in the file system, and I was able to start Windows.  As a precaution, I have since set a system restore to a few days point more earlier than when the problem occurred, and all goes well now.
