HP Envy 15 - 3040nr Sound stopped working

Hello

The sound on my hp envy 15-3040nr has just stopped working. I reinstalled the sound drivers, checked to see if the speakers have been disabled in Device Manager and used the tool to troubleshoot the system and security. None of them helped. Its also not working with headphones.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello

Try the following.

Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp56501-57000/sp56900.exe

One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

When you're done, shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then proceed to a "forced Reset" by holding down the power and time for 10 seconds.  When done, plug in the adapter.

Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

Allow Windows to fully - charge it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

Kind regards

DP - K

    Hello

Try to restore the operating system to an earlier time when everything works well. On this path, it is not easy to say why this is happening. Try also to remove sound card since the Device Manager, and then restart the device.

All the drivers for your device, you can find on Toshiba download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

  • Re: Satellite C660 - Sound stopped working

I did some research online, and it seems that this is not an uncommon problem for the sound card to stop working. I tried a number of things and just uninstall the old driver and installed a new. Still nothing.

Advice please? I'm not a geek and I just want to hear things again!

Can you please tell us what operating system do you use?
Are you using the original OS that you got with your laptop?
Since when did you notice this problem?
Have you noticed the same problem if you use headphones or external speakers?

  • Re: Satellite P100 PSPAAE - sound stopped working

I'm on Vista Home Premium using a Satellite P100 PSPAAE. My sound doesn't work anymore, I think after an automatic update.

I downloaded and installed the latest driver from Toshiba support but no joy, and make site back does not set it.

MS load an older version, when I have auto update.

Which driver should I I have installed cause I'm totally confused now. Is there a trick to install?

I wouldn't mud autour trying to find the right software. Instead of buying everything and tell them that the sound has stopped working. They will fix it for you.

I went through it and it turned out to be my hard drive. Could be a different default for you, but of course it took the sadness on me when I arrived at the place to fix it for me.

    Good luck.

  • Sound stops working after a period of time on my Satellite L755D - 14 M

Hey there, I have a problem that I can't solve any how I try. Sometimes, when I play, I have sound, but all the all of a sudden it stops working, but I see no error. When I try to open a sound track through Windows Media Player, it says "year error occurred while trying to open this file through Media Player", or simillar.

When I go on youtube, there is no sound, and there is no sound in games I play. And when I connect to Teamspeak to talk to my friends, I get an error saying that it is not able to connect to the audio device.

I tried to update the sound card on the latest driver from Toshiba Web site through, but that did not resolve the error. The only solution I have now is to restart the computer to wait for the next time it will happen. Which I find really annoying.

Is there than anything the people of this forum can help me with?

    Hello

    > When I try to open a sound track through Windows Media Player, it says "year error occurred while trying to open this file through Media Player", or simillar.

I found an interesting article from the Microsoft Knowledge base where this error message is shown:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/831430

try to change the registry perhaps that helps

If this does not work, I recommend using HARD drive recovery to reset the system.
Since I m thinking its system damaged, HARD drive recovery should solve this problem.

  • My HP Envy touch screen has stopped working after an update of the HP Bios yesterday

Can someone tell me please how to fix my touch screen. I got an HP BIOS update which caused my touch screen to stop working. I tried to re - calibrate the it, but it does not accept my contact telling me that the screen is no longer enabled.

I tried to find where to turn them on and couldn't find where to enable touch of the finger. I also tried looking for driver updates and driver seems to be up-to-date.

    Thank you

I have another type of TouchSmart, but this may work for you:

    1. Press Windows + X logo (if you are using a Windows computer 8 - If Windows 7, click the Start button, type Device Manager and click on Device Manager in the results of research).
    2. Select Device Manager from the list.
    3. Click on the small arrow next to Interface devices to expand the list.
    4. Click the touchscreen driver (in my case, Voltron NextWindow touch screen).
    5. Right click and select Activate from the list.
    6. Click Yes if a dialog box asks if you are sure you want to activate the touch screen driver.

On some models, it is unclear which device in the checklist of the touch screen. I read in other posts that some people have solved the problem by disabling and then re-enabling each device.

If this does not work, you could try to go to hp.com (http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html) and click on driver downloads &.
In the search field, enter your product name or number, and then click OK. Select your operating system from the drop down list under Select your operating system, and then click Next. If there is no graphic driver available under Select a download below, click on the plus sign next to the driver - graphics, and then click the name of the driver. In the information and download options window, click Download. Follow the instructions on the screen to download the driver. Restart the computer.

  • HP envy 15-j185nr: HP envy 15 SimplePass has stopped working

I recently came across a problem with my original wireless card, you have the card replaced and now links to the internet fine, but when I was in the process or to find the problem, I used the restore option that uninstalls programs and saves files, but essentially restores the computer to factory default.

My HP SimplePass stopped working after I did, and when I try to reinstall it, it is impossible to recognize that my laptop has a fingerprint reader.

My product number is E324UA #ABA and model number 15-j185nr, hope that this is enough to find what is the question.

    Try the version: 8.01.11 - May 4, 2014

    or

    Also the update:

  • Satelitte C6150 - Sound stopped working!

I tried all the suggestions on a previous thread, and the sound on my system still does not work.

I even tried a system restore to yesterday (where he worked) and nothing.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver but still nothing!

    Someone more suggestions?
Think I might have to consider a shop, but if I can avoid spending money I've rather fix it myself.

    Hello

This means that you have recovered the laptop to factory settings using the recovery disk or recovery disk option and the sound still doesn't work?
Did you check if you can hear something using the headset? Have you checked whether the Mute isn't activated? Usually, you can mute the sound by pressing Fn + ESC

    Hello spidey101,

She doesn't mute the speakers built into the laptop.

Thx for your answer, but I solved this problem. He wasn't SW fault, because reinstall I did at first.

Because he muted only the speakers, I disassembled the bottom cover of the laptop, where the speakers. I discovered, that the wires are not connected enough for them. So I fixed it and now its working properly

Anyway, thx for your reply, once again

  • Virtual sound stops working - Satellite A100

    Dear all

I seem to have a problem with my virtual sound on my Satellite A100. It seems to work intermittently, often it doesn't work anymore and I can't control if it is on or off. If I reboot, it can start working again, but not always. I did a factory restore of the machine that clears the fault, but after a few start-up, it starts to happen again. It doesn't seem to be a reason for the problem.

Has anyone experienced this problem and managed to work around it?

    Thank you

    Hello

I put t don't know if this helps but try to update the utility audio virtual ansd the audio driver. To do this, check the Toshiba driver page.

I put t know if it is interesting for you, but in this forum, I noticed that on some Satellite P100 crackling sounds/noises can be resolved by updating of all of the BIOS (v 2.1 or higher) and the audio driver.
Need to first update the BIOS

  • My sound stopped working after an upgrade to Windows 7.

I upgraded to Windows 7 (Professional) about seven months ago and never had a problem with it until last night when Windows said they had to install some updates 'important '.  After restarting my computer to complete the update, my sound did not work.  There is a small red "x" on the speaker icon in my taskbar and it does not at all.  Windows has identified the problem, saying that "one or more of the audio service is not running."  Well Yes, obvious.  When I clicked for more information, he said that "two windows audio and Windows Audio end Point generator services must run for audio working properly."  At least one of these services is not running. "Windows cannot resolve the problem, and help desk does not give me ideas for specific things that could be the cause.  My guess is that when Windows has been updated level and facility, has installed the audio drivers upgraded properly, but that's just a guess.  In any case, I wish that it be fixed as soon as possible.  In my opinion, it's a fairly common fault in the Windows 7 operating system, it seems to me that since it has been discussed previously, a person must be able to tell me how to solve this problem.  I have not tried anything yet.  And besides, I use a laptop Sony VGN - FW.

    Hello

type services.msc in the search from the start menu and run the tool found.

Now, sure, that these two services are running.

You now have sound? Also install the latest drivers for your sound card.
