  • Envy 15-j104el: updated NETWORK WiFi card and RAM update

    Goodmorning to everyone

I write this post to ask for information on the possibility to do an upgrade of hardware on my HP Envy 15-j104elsystem.

    That's what I would do:

-Replace the network card (NIC) to a wireless better and possibly with a compatible AC NIC.

-Update to 16 GB of ram, put benches with CL9 SODIMM

The questions that I want to bring to your attention are:

-There is a 'white list' for the wifi card on my BIOS (actually F66)?
(consultation with the service manual there are little NIC OEM selled, y at - it ONLY compatible?)

-Put the sticks of ram CL9 (instead of CL11 currently OEM mounted), I can inprove the overall performance?

    I want to install are:

    -Intel Wireless-AC 7260 more Bluethoot HMC 4.0

    -Kingston HyperX Impact DDR3L 16 GB (2x8gb) SODIMM 1600 Mhz CL9 (Kit)

According to your experiences, is it compatible? I can buy them without any problem?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me. Thanks for your suggestions

In particular, I take this opportunity to greet and also need the help of my friend @visruth ;)

    1. no whitelist. Your laptop was conducted after HP stopped using a white list so that you can install any card with the right form factor and the number of antennas. The Intel 7260 card should work.

    2. you can install the CL9 memory but it will not do anything all run faster. The motherboard is made to operate at the speed of the OEM memory so the Kingston Hyper-X will work, but the specifications of it in operation will be the same as memory OEM.

  • HP Envy 15-j190nb update question

    Hi all

I have a question about the HP Envy 15-j190nb.

I'm looking for a laptop about a new study that I will soon begin. My eyes fell on the HP Envy 15-j190nb .

The specs are really good for a laptop, but I was wondering if I could install an Msata SSD and Windows of her boot.

Basically, I want to keep the 750 GB HARD drive as a device to store my data and the SSD as a boot device.

The question is, is it possible? I searched the Internet for a bit and saw that the old Envy 15 models were not able to boot from the disc Msata, because they removed this option in the Bios. The only thing that could do the job was if you removed the preinstalled HARD drive so that the laptop would automatically detect the Msata drive as a boot device.

Now the articles I read are from somewhere last year so I don't know if the problem I described is still there.

I'm looking forward for an awnser

Problems still there. You can also run Windows of the WSSD, if you configure a bootstrapper on the main drive, which is quite advanced things. I'd say you'd be better off just replace the mechanical drive with a SATA SSD.

Fortunately, it's one of the models where the hard drive and the WSSD are easily accessible.

  • HP Envy 14-J009tx: updating the Nvidia driver is blocked?

So, I bought this laptop last month, and I tried updating the Nvidia graphics driver for the last of the 347.52 version supplied with it. I opened the GeForce experience app to update, it tells me that it is impossible to connect to Nvidia. Not still even though I changed my home network to the endearing phone, it won't let me update, saying that it cannot connect to Nvidia and I should try again later. I also checked the firewall and AVG (I changed the antivirus immediately after purchase) and allows the application to access the internet.

So my question is: is it done deliberately by HP or there may be something wrong with the whole of my ISP? And besides, I am interested in upgrading to Windows 10, will there be any problem with all the app that requires Nvidia? I really need the graphics I want to do a lot of CAD in the future.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello MalvinVVV ;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post on Nvidia driver update and I wanted to help.

It's generally a BAD idea to update the video drivers laptop NVIDIA (or AMD) because the OEM manufacturers often use specialized versions of video chipsets for which these pilots are not suitable.  The best approach is to update only from the OEM drivers.

This link is to HP for your PC product page: http://support.hp.com/sg-en/product/HP-ENVY-14-Notebook-PC-series/7771343/model/8524508/drivers

If you press the check now button, he will see if there is new video HP drivers for your PC, download and install them.  If there is no newer drivers, I would leave it alone.

In addition, I checked the same page to see if there are drivers HP Win10 and there are.  So, if you decide to upgrade to Win10, you will be able to get drivers HP.

    Good luck

  • HP Envy 700-327c: graphics card on HP Envy 700-327c update

I just bought and am preparing to install an AMD over-pants W7000 C2K00AT 4 GB GDDR5 SDRAM PCI Express 3.0 x 16 ATI Nvidia Quadro graphics in my HP Envy 700 - 327 c.  Any input as to what I can do to make this a free update of the problem?

    You are welcome.

I would like to do some research before buying a power supply.  You may need more power than I recommended.  It says in the specs it uses less than 150W, but even more than the current PSU can provide with other components.

I'd certainly appreciate hearing how things are going.

    Hello

You should not have to replace your WIFI adapter.  It should be compatible with your new router as multiple bands should be available.

I suggest that you configure communications WIRELESS "n" and see if you are having a better flow. Don't forget that the wireless signal a very weak signals will not produce the best performance.  Your ISP service may need to be increased depending on the speed you want.

If you are not satisfied with performance "n", then you can consider this Intel WIFI card.  The sides of the user looks fine.

Thanks for posting on the forum.

  • Laptop HP ENVY 15-AH151sa: updated my new laptop Win10

According to my HP Support Assistant earlier today, there was no updates that I need to install but then I had an interesting development.

I accidentally clicked on my desk and saw a menu here. At the top was a link to AMD Catalyst Control Center, and from there, I updated my driver AMD. Move the screen now appears to be much better and I have more problems with my cursor is jumping around.

    The disadvantages are

    (1) I think that it has installed software to follow me and sent me things I don't want - ads, etc. There are plenty of games AMD announcements. I had to click "send me your stuff ' to continue the installation.

    (2) it has installed a program called M that WinPatrol alerted me. I had to accept such would not continue with the installation.

    (3) it installed MS Visual C++ 2013. I always leave MS comes out / update these. I can't understand why the AMD has installed and wonder if the next MU will change.

So my question is why HP say does not need to update anything?

I think this reinforces my another question here

  • HP Envy 15-j092nr: update wifi AC for HP Envy 15-j092nr

I have the HP Envy 15-j092nr computer laptop which works very well with Windows 8.1 and my father just bought a router AC I'm looking in the upgrade of the wifi card in my laptop for the Intel 7260.HMWG network 2 x 2 AC + Bluetooth HMC.

Can someone help me understand if:

Can I upgrade my laptop wifi card to?

Is present in the list card white by HP?

    BT will work?

I have seen many forums that say it can be upgraded and some that I need to check the white list or perhaps BT will not work correctly. I don't want to be flipping of coins, so please help me before I go and spend my money.

    THX!

    Hello:

Unfortunately, you will need to return a coin.

No one knows exactly when HP removed the blocking of the BIOS.

It was about 15 months ago.

Because your PC has an Intel wireless card now, it should run any Intel card that you want to install, if there is no BIOS whitelist.

It was right around when your series came out that whitelist has been removed.

I would say that the chances of a different wlan card working in your favor.

  • Envy 15-j108el: update Wi - Fi adapter

    Hello

I would like to know if I can update/change my wireless HP Envy 15-j108el adapter because I have too many problems with this, the connection is very slow and only standing next to the router I can surf the internet in a decent way.

The adapter is the Ralink RT 3290, I searched the internet and I found some bad reviews about it. Can someone suggest me a better adapter for my laptop?

    Thank you well in advance,

    M.

    Hello:

First, verify that your current wireless card has 2 antennas connected to it.

See the below maintenance manual to see how to access the compartment of the wireless card.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c04091768

If the card has 2 antennas connected to it, I recommend that you install either the:

    Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260AN WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n 2 x 2 + HP BT4.0 part # 717381-001

or: (if you have or plan to get an AC wireless router)...

  • HP ENVY TS: computer update

I tried to update my computer but when I click on restart and update button computer re begins and it is not updating, it is to connect to the screen. The update was recommended by WIdndows via message that appeared on my desk. Initially when I tried to download the update he gave me a 8000... error.  Do there is a way to cancel the update?

    Hi @MSylwia95,.

Thank you for visiting the Forums HP's Support and welcome. I read about your TouchSmart from HP ENVY laptop and get the error message trying to do a Windows update. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant. Simply download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system, and it will do the updates for you.

Note Remove all USB devices. Disconnect all devices of non-essential, as these can cause some problems.

Plug the power supply directly to a wall outlet works. Do not connect it a power strip, surge arrester, or secondary power source as this could cause and issue.

Before the update you did it ensure that your system is up-to-date with Windows. Here's something from Microsoft that could help.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thank you.

  • HP Envy 15-k220nr: updated HP Envy 15-k220nr SSD m2

Good people of HP support forum,

I have a portable Envy that came with 1 TB of HARD drive and is now a bit slow for me. I'm looking for in the options of upgrade "regular" SSD for about $150, but that requires me to make a compromise on the storage capacity. I thought to add a SSD M.2 and keep my HARD drive installed, but I don't know if there is slot for m2. Can someone help me?

Support for my laptop page lists "generic" repair for Envy 17, Envy 15, and even if it adheres to most of the things on my model, "m2 support is optional. Speccy lists available PCI slot but I don't know if that's all.

Or I have to disassemble the jury to be sure? (not an easy task if you ask me and I already changed the WiFi module myself).

    Thank you guys

I disassembled the laptop completely to add more RAM and have checked there No. M.2 slot. The space is for him next to the RAM slots, there is impression on the jury, but no connector is welded.

I have to be happy with a hard drive.
