HP Envy 15 j140na: suspected of sound card - no way to diagnose failure?

I suspect a sound card that has failed on my HP Envy 15, I'm getting no audio through speakers or headphones. 10 Windows and Ubuntu, I have no sound card/no audio device detected. Is it possible to run hardware diagnostics on my laptop to confirm that it is a hardware problem, or is it a software problem?

It is soldered to the motherboard, so if the connection is doubtful it will mean a new motherboard for sound. You can use a usb sound card dongle and headset is the only solution.

  • HP Envy Phoenix: Disabling Beats Audio Sound card in desktop HP Envy Phoenix

Here's my problem, my HP Envy Phoenix office above came with Beats Audio standard install, I installed a new card his SoundBlaster Audigy 5/Rx installed fine, but one of my audio editing programs says

The output of the sound card could not be defined at this sampling frequency: 44100 Hz

Either the device does not support this sampling frequency, or it is in slave mode and its sampling frequency cannot be changed by elements of WaveLab. So how do I know if my new sound card is running in slave mode and how do I change this? or maybe disable the card Audio Beats?

    Thanks in advance,

    SP60, welcome to the forum.

Beats Audio should automatically be turned off when the sound card is installed.  However, you can go to the control panel Audio Beats and uncheck the "Set as default device".  You can do this with the recording device, too.

First of all, I want to make sure that the card is replaceable quality even if not better. Secondly, is it possible for me to get the part sent home to replace me myself or maybe take in my laptop to the building to take only a short amount of time with her. I'm running on an audio interface I already owned for a long time, but it is inconvient for me to use when im to mobile OS. I understand that you have been troubled by Audio drivers

    • I recommend you update the BIOS by using the tool HP Support assistant or the HP website.
    • Once you update the bios > uninstall the current sound driver by using Device Manager > then use this LINK (ditto) to download the updated audio driver and that should fix this problem.

  • TouchSmart HP Envy 15-j078ca - sound card problems

    Hello!

I have a HP Envy 15-j078ca running windows 8.1 touchsmart and, recently, I noticed that my audio is static/crackling noises. A test, I plugged my head phones to see if it was a speaker problem or a problem of sound card and audio in my headphones was also static noises.

Some of my audio programs tell me that it is a sound card problem.

What I did: I followed the advice on another thread that had me uninstall the drivers and hand it to reset my bios settings can have my drivers to reinstall but I found that my audio worked perfectly! ... for about 2 hours then my cell phone was dead silent so I got this back a few days and the audio was fine again... for a few hours before he began to do staic noises again.

  • HP envy 15-j140na: maintenance of fan for a hp envy 15

    Hello.

I am the owner of a HP Envy 15-j140na and wonder about the maintenance of my computer, I had the laptop for over a year and the warrinty has expiered, unfortonatly is when defects and problems begin to occoure in my computer, like the fan. The first thing I would like to talk about is what to do if something is stuck in the box fan that I hear a ratteling in this area as well as the sound of a small object occasonal felt road by the fan. The second is the progressive of dust in the computer collection as it's notable vagually because of me constantly on the road with my laptop,

Some advice for what would be good.

Summary: to the fan in laptop, done occasonal noise, dust problems?

Notes; object can be in the position where he is sucked to the fan only to be hit by far later.

    @Fellx

Taking into account of the laptop is no longer under warranty - and that you are interested in taking on the task of opening the box - then you can take a look at the Guide of Serviceand then decide your best course of action.

Section: Removal and replacement procedures preliminary requirements

    Chapter 4, Page 34

Section: Removal and replacement procedures for parts of service provider approved > Fan

    Chapter 6, Page 62

Fan of repairs and repairs of this type in general, are not generally prohibitive compared to some other things that can happen.  Repair times, assuming that nothing else is wrong, definitely not months.  I should wait a few days, if that, would be required to complete single fan related repairs.  Of course, if something is wrong, the cost and the time required to complete the repair could change.

I do not recommend, or I say otherwise, that you should or should not try to fix it yourself.  It is entirely your decision based on your skill set, your level of interest in the task once and your determination to avoid that the work done by a reliable repair home.

Avoid the sprays of chemicals - compressed air is not always just air.  Read the label before applying any substance to your computer.

    Good luck.

  • Don't envy of 23 "monitor - no sound

I bought Envy 23 "yesterday. Tried to check his "Beats Audio" of internal speakers and heard nothing. Monitor is connected via HDMI with cable supplied. Completely reinstalled the nVidia drivers - same result. Tried to connect with an analog cable for my sound card - and once again no result. "Speaker self-test" in the menu does not any sound either. Is my broken screen? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello again weird773,

You're right that your monitor has no internal speakers. In some countries, it comes with speakers and in the country that there is not, you are required to purchase a separate set of speakers. I got this information from page 4 of the QuickSpecs which is linked directly from HP ENVY 23 23 inch diagonal IPS (E1K96AA) LED backlit display - product documentation.

This means that you must connect the separate speakers or headphones to your monitor.

I hope that I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thanks for posting again on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • HP Envy 15-j140na: HP SimplePass fingerprint reader incentive is not to connect

    Hello

I just bought the HP Envy 15-j140na sound of HP. The laptop is fantastic, but I'm having a problem with the fingerprint reader. The computer comes with the simplepass 8.00.57 already installed the version of the software.

The problem I have, is that once I implemented the simple passage fingerprint reader, it lead me to analyze my impression when connecting windows and I have to log on normally. I checked all the settings and it should be implemented, however there is no prompt. Just to emphasize that everything works fine. I can't sign in Web sites on IE no problem at all using the fingerprint reader. It can be a little frustrating because it goes against the interest of having a fingerprint reader.

Any help to operate would be greatly apprecieted,

    Bravo guys.

  • My line in order to work for onboard audio or added sound card, how can I fix?

Win XP SP3. No sound can be heard, or saved from, line input on the its Audigy SE card or on board Sound Max.  I'm 100% sure the cable (several have been tried) a sound source (several were found to be) works correctly and plugged into the correct line in jack. Audio out works very well. Drivers for sound cards are up to date. The properties of entry and exit in volume (start/Accessories/Entertainment/volume control) are correct as well (not selected line, no button mute on, sliders to 100%.). I suspect that the problem is to do with XP;  a bad configuration or something missing. Help, please.

    No upgrade

I recently did the upgrade of the driver of the Doc and found things that I didn't exist on my computer, which was given to me by my nephew.  He turns quiet and really did not have any complaints until after that I did the upgrade of the driver of the Doc.  Now, that sounds like a grinding machine.  I was told that when I talked about Facebook, I need to update my sound card driver.  I did a search to see what it means, but I am not prepared to do right now.  Can someone reassure me that it will be an easy fix?

Could be a problem of fan cooling, remove the side cover of the tower and see if you can see or hear the sound is coming from.

My advice would be the same. Certainly, it looks like a fan at the origin of the problem. Fans get older they intermittently can make noise. This would explain why you hear sometimes and not others.

Furthermore, to see if your sound card, causing the noise (which I doubt), just turn off all your speakers when you hear the noise. If the sound stops immediately, it's actually a sound card related question.

There are often several fans inside the computer.  There will be one which is part of the power supply. Sometimes one or more attached to the casing of the computer itself (usually the Panel that you remove the first and one on the front of the case.)  There will probably be one on top of the CPU (central processing unit), as well as on the video card.

Not recommended advice (which I did before) - gently tap on the center of the fan that you suspect is making noise. Jiggleling it will sometimes make noise to stop. In this case, you know which fan needs to be replaced.

Even worse advice (which I also done before) - take a small piece of wood (for example, a 1/4-inch dowel rod) and insert slowly into the fan to keep it from turning. If the noise stops, you have found the fan that needs to be replaced. Remove the stick to regularize quickly because he will always try to run and we don't want it burn.

If you can't find that a fan is causing trouble you want to replace as soon as possible because it will eventually stop working and cause one or more components in your computer to overheat.

  • Type of sound card want 700 060ea

I'm looking at the specs of 060ea HP Envy 700 and cannot see the "sound card". I compose music for a living online and this info is required to properly set up my new software EWQLSO (money).

I'm not particularly happy with the card its installed with this model - it's a trumpet sounds like an Irish flute with a leak and a clarinet sound like a demi-etrangle pigeon - I know that the software I mentioned above will solve this problem, but it's still a bit disappointing.

    Hi stephenlines,

The IDT audio installed on HP systems is not compatible ASIO. Beats Audio isn't a good solution in real time recording.

Not sure if that's where you were going with your question, but I work with musicians and could not use its IDT for this purpose. I now use the ASIO for all to eliminate latency when adding instruments to the records. Bat has terrible latency characteristics.

Mac 10.10.5 attempt installation of teaching textbooks algebra. Attention box TT tells me that there is no sound card.  No problems with other programs. Customer support TT tells me that I have to update the drivers... where and how can I do this? I thought that I had everything set to update automatically, and all must be current.

Their support staff obviously have no idea what they are talking about. Is it supposed to be compatible with the version of Mac OS X you are using?

Usually connecting the phone to the car system - particularly at the point where you can play the music usually connects the Maps app
