HP Envy 17 t-n100 (NOU68AV): adding a 2nd SSD to a HP Envy 17 t

I installed a second (PNY CS1311 960 GB) SSD in my HP Envy 17 t, which is not always recognized.  After the initial installation, I could see in disk management, create a new simple volume and mount it as a record.  Everything worked well.  After the first reboot, the volume was missing and I was unable to find it in disk management.  I removed the DDI and connected using a USB/SATA cable.  The volume is good, so I figured that the internal SATA cable was bad.  I ordered a new one and installed, but the drive has not yet been recognized.  I double checked the cable and it was installed correctly.  After a few reboots suddenly the drive has been recognized again.  I was able to use the volume until the next reboot, when he disappeared again.  Any idea what might cause this behavior?

I cloned the original 1 TB 5400 RPM HARD drive on a new CS1311 of PNY 120 GB SSD.  I wanted to have the OS and applications on the 120 GB and add the PNY CS1311 960 GB SSD in the 2nd Bay for all my other files that I also have off-site backup.  Given that the laptop can see the 2nd occasionally by car, I cloned the original HDD to the 960 GB SSD.  The laptop works fine with just the 960 GB SSD in the first Bay.  This isn't the configuration I wanted, but it will work.

There are three disks 3.5 "bays.  I think that two of them will be available.  You will need to use an adapter to make the 2.5 "SSD fits correctly.  You can buy one for under $ $20.  There are several SATA connectors on the motherboard, too.

  • Envy 17 t n100: help adding 2nd drive 256 GB SATA SSD (TLC) m2

    Hi all

I'm a noob advanced and need some advice and assistance, I just bought an n-100 Envy 17 t. Lack of resources, I don't have the 2nd drive 256Go M.2 SATA SSD (TLC) or pull the memory up to 16 GB max. Memory should be 1 stick of 8 Go DDR3L-1600 to max the16GB?

    Here are my specs.

    murrayotl

Put simply, assuming you want to migrate to Windows from the HARD drive of 1 TB to a 256 GB SSD, there is no simple way to do it.

The best way to do it, as I've done several times, is to use a third party called Macrium Reflect application.  It's free and will lets you clone (1) a drive - make an exact copy of a disc on another and (2) image/restore disks - a copy of a disc and then copy on a second disc.

If you can climb both drives at the same time, then (1) is the way to go.  Otherwise, to do (2), you must clone the drive to an external drive, plug the new external drive and then 'restore' from the hard drive to the new drive.

When the first doping, select the option "Backup--> Image disks selected" to clone the current drive to the new drive.

When you do the second, select "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key

The PROBLEM you have is that a partition of 1 TB is wrong simply to fit on a disk of 250 GB - if you have work to do.  You should run Disk Manager to narrow down the OS partition to be used in total less than 250 GB of disk space.

You can run the Windows disk management by following the steps below:

    (1) Control Panel to type in the search box

    2) click on Control Panel

    3) click on Administrative Tools

    4) click on disk management

Once there, you will see the list of partitions.  Select the one which contains the OS (or great) and see how you can reduce it.  On the 1 TB drive, you will have to drop below 200 GB - to be sure.

The PC will then probably need to reboot to make the changes.

Once you have restarted in Win10, install Macrium Reflect - and follow the instructions I left above.

Once the migration is completed, stop your PC, replace the SSD HARD drive and reboot.

If all goes well, you should start in Win10 without any problem.

    Good luck

  • Instant ink: adding a 2nd activation code

I signed up for the instant the ink program when I found the $9.99 / month package registration on clearance for $1! Can I buy more than one kit and add it to my account to extend my subscription to save money? Or I would be able to cancel and then re-register with a new code?

    Hi @Karenkevin16.

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support. I understand that you have a question about instant registration ink kits. I would like to help.

The registration kit is used to configure the instant the ink account. Additional registration package can be added to the same account. It would be nice/neat, but it was not designed to work this way.

As for the second idea... I have to say maybe. Yes, you can register with a key code and then cancel and re-register with another key. In theory, this will work. I don't know if it will work.

Another thing to keep in mind is that whenever you sign up you will receive a welcome kit. There is a full range of ink cartridges. That more ink will be sent when triggered by the printer. This could lead to a lot of extra ink on the spot. You can always send back extra ink.

Here are some links to documents that can help out you.

  • HP Envery Phoenix 810: New PC, added my own SSD, how to move Windows?

    Hello

Just got this new PC, but it did not come with an SSD, so I added my own. But I can't understand how to get Windows installs it. I want it to become my main boot drive.

Delivery to zero/system restore does not give me an option to specify a drive.

Since this is brand new, there is no problem with wiping the disks completely and starting over.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thank you!

    Greetings,

810 HP PC usually have a 256 GB or 512 GB SSD drive option available for purchase.

Create HP Recovery DVD discs or USB key to aid Recovery Manager from HP.

Exchange in the new SSD on SATA0 and run recovery using DVD or USB recovery drive to the new drive.

This will create a new installation, so save the good things before doing this.

You can also clone the drive using third-party cloning software, but if you are interested in going to win 10 it could cause upgrade problems. Some third-party cloning software changes the disk partition SSID that cause the Win 10 upgrade fails.

Some SSD drives come with the cloning software. Install the software, connect the SSD to your PC via the included USB adapter and run the cloning software to migrate OS to SSD. Then, install the SSD on SATA0 and start Windows on your newly installed SSD.

Again, if the SSID is changed using the cloning software SSD manufacturer, you can have a problem upgrading to win 10.

So, if you want to win 10 then do it (upgrade) before installing the SSD.

  • How can I run two disk hard of (adding a 2nd hard drive) on the flag a1020n?

How to do two hard drives on the a1020n Pavilion, after adding a new hard drive for my existing CPU?  My old hard drive is out, so I will install a new hard drive, redefinition of the new hard drive, but I still want to have access to the old disk until I have transferred all my personal files to the new drive.  I saw answers to self-help.

Yes. I often throw in additional disks other PC as a second drive... just give Windows a minute or two to find and configure the drives after their installation. You can use the Explorer to browse the file structure.

  • adding the 2nd Time Machine disk backup capability

I have a Mac pro OS X 10.11.5 with two discs devoted to the backup. When I wanted the first filled to the top, then add the second to continue archiving backup files.

I don't want to lose my older archived data in backups on disk 1.

What happens when I add a second drive to add capacity to the Time Machine backups?  Once the first drive is hard full TM then will use the second drive until it is full?

When you add the second drive, I get a warning that the TM will take turns using the disc 1 and disc 2. But 1 disk is full. TM will not delete old information on Drive 1 to make room? If Yes is not good because I want to keep the old data. I just want to keep incremental backups to Drive 2.

    Please specify the feature.

Yes, TM will continue to save on disk 1 and delete older backups and take turns with disk 2. If you want to keep 1 as it is by car, then you must remove it from the list of backup. Start a new backup on disk 2, and continue. In both cases, the disc 2 will make a new full backup of your computer.

Because this computer has only 2 sata data headers, it is implicit that you don't have the choice. He has No. secondary drive Bay. You might consider cloning from the old drive to the new.

  • Adding a new SSD on Satellite P70-A-107

    Hello

Recently bought a Toshiba Satellite P70-107-A. It has a 1 t HARD drive and another empty location where I can put another SSD or HARD disk.

I already have orderedt an SSD (840 pro) and I think puts it in slot 1 with the system and put the 1 t HARD drive in slot 2. I created a usb media recovery with Recovery Media Creator Toshiva with the recovery of the computer image.

My question is: can I just put the SSD in slot 1 and to boot via USB and make recovery directly on the SSD? The bios will recognize the SSD?

I need to install any drivers for bios recognize the SSD?
Also heard that it was necessary to activate the AHCI, but I don't see this option in the bios.

    Thank you.

If you have the original recovery media, I think that everything should be OK.
Only put the SSD and then install original recovery image. When it's all over and the operating system is installed properly, you can add second drive.

When you put the new SSDS go to parameters of the BIOS, check if the SSD is recognized correctly, the value of the BIOS default settings and continue with the installation of the OS (original recovery image).
    Please post comments.

  • Adding an mSATA SSD to a Y580 ideapad

My original HD goes wrong so I decided to buy a new HD and an mSATA SSD. I have read several forums and watched videos more then I would have liked and I do not always find everything that can guide me through this. I want my mSATA be configured as on my original HD with a partition C: and D: and it be able to run the recovery of one button and everything that the original HD was able to do. So I want the replacement HD drive to be just for storage. My computer did not come with an mSATA initially. It has the Intel Rapid Storage Technology technology, but I can't find RapidTool.exe that some forums say is necessary.

So I ended up making just a restore factory disk and used on the mSATA and it did everything I wanted except make a D: drive but all the features work so far and I don't see anything wrong. Now for the disk drive do I just plug n play or what I need to do something more?

    / Principles/fundamental graphics and diagrams.

I can remove two entries of the formula and add them again, but I can't add a 3rd entry and more 'Trim' and 'X '.

Also, I'm wondering how to change the text of 'Simulate Signal' to 'Simulate Signal for Horizon/vertical' as in the example.

You simply define a formula that contains more parameters.

You can't have three entries in a formula that uses only two variables. That would be foolish.
