HP Envy 23-o014: HP desktop screen freezes while idle time after installing Norton Inernet Security

I just got my new computer a week.  I did not now, McAfee has been installed to work.

Since I've had a full year of Norton Internet Security, I downloaded and installed.

The day of the installation, while the screen was not idle, he locked the desktop icons (yahoo, msn, etc.) and the icons would not respond.  So I tried the reboot task, and he just kept spinning for an hour and will not re-start.  I had to unplug the computer to start again.  This has happened several times in the coming days.

So I uninstalled norton and the problem disappeared.

I see now, with hindsite that McAfee has been also performed.

Anyway, the Safe Live McAfee seems to work, he wants his subscription and payment.

My question is should I just try to use McAfee, provided with the system, and try to recover my money of norton?

Or uninstall McAfee and try to get norton to work and not cause problems?

We believe that Norton would work if McAfee is completely uninstalled (which was not the case)?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. It is a known fact that running 2 different programs of security with real-time protection can result in conflicts between them and can cause performance problems. It is therefore recommended to use the real-time protection that one at a time, but you can use everything on demand scanner/security, if you are too preoccupied with the help of a single security program. There is a removal tool in the Mcafee web site that can help you to uninstall the program completely. You can try to use it. Then download and run Norton Removal tool: http://www.norton.com/symnrt and reinstall Norton from your account. Let me know how it goes.

    Hi G Conrad, j.

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

I would appreciate it if you could provide the error message to better support on the issue. In addition, I would like you to answer the following questions to refine the question.

    • You did it any significant hardware or change software on the computer before this problem?
    • You are able to use the system anyway after the system hangs at startup?

There are a few reasons your computer might hang, freeze, or crash. So I would say, you can remove the external devices except the mouse and keyboard, try the following steps and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Step 1: Try to start your system in a State of services necessary to the operation and a minimum set of drivers enabled, called Safe Mode.
Start your computer in safe mode

Step 2: If the system works fine in safe mode, try to clean the system startup:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: See "how to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to prepare the computer to start as usual after a repair.

If method 1 does not work, see the steps in the following link and check if they are useful.

8.1 Windows, Windows 8 or Windows 7 hangs or freezes

Disclaimer : The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

  • My desktop screen takes a long time to load.

It takes a good 15 minutes to load my desktop screen. The shortcut icons are the last thing to appear. I tried to do a virus scan, I defragment the hard drive, I have run a maintenance program and deleted unnecessary files... I tried turning off and back on. Help would be very appreciated. :)

After the good advice of maintenance you have tried, I would recommend deleting or disabling the programs that run automatically.  These auto-run programs slow start the system and are generally not needed (and you can always run the program yourself later if you want).

To do this, in Windows Vista:

    1. Start the utility Configuration of Microsoft
Press +R to display the race.  Type MSCONFIG and click OK.
    2. Remove unnecessary programs from startup
Go to the Startup tab and disable all programs that you do not want automatic loading when your computer starts.  Be sure you do not turn off your antivirus software, but consider things related to Adobe, Facebook, Google, catalyst or display/graphics and nothing else, that you recognize that you don't need.

If you are not sure, it is safe to disable it and test it.  If you find something you need, you can always go back and turn it back on.

  • HP Pavilion x 360 n014na: HP Pavilion x 360 n014na touch screen not working not not after installing Windows 8.1

Please help, I'm desperate.  I searched for weeks without any solution.  I have a HP Pavilion x 360 n014na, when I bought it I installed Linux immediately and have been using it this way without problem.

However, I decided that I wanted to go back to 8.1 for Windows as the main operating system.  I was not able to make a USB recovery in time when I bought the laptop, so I used a legal copy obtained directly from Microsoft.  It has detected my BIOS on the product key and activated correctly, all devices work.   Except the touchscreen unresponsive.

I went to the support page for my machine model, downloaded and updated all the drivers.  There is NO drivers for the touch screen.  I contacted Microsoft, the drivers are provided by HP and they have not.

I have seen that others complain and no resolution, just a pointer to a page for Windows 8 (not 8.1) with outdated information.  It is NOT a hardware problem.  It IS a driver problem, IE. There is no driver available anywhere.  I am not a novice, I have worked with computers professionally for decades.

Need help please, I just need a link to the driver, not a page with obsolete or non-applicable information.

No, no.  Having to purchase replacement media is not a solution.  I said I got a legal copy of the Microsoft Windows Installer, I have a product key integrated in the BIOS.  I won't spend more money for something that I own.

As it is a common complaint, here's what I did:

The solution was to check the HP drivers for I2C and GPIO are present and loaded correctly, he will be seen in the device under "Human Interface devices" Manager  They appear originally HID-compliant touch screen driver, get these right and the touchscreen should work after a reboot.  I had to install both times that something must have gone wrong the first time.

  • touch screen not working not not after installing windows 8

After my first installation of windows 8, there were a lot of conflicts and the shutdowns. Windows suggested another installation I did and now it works fine. However, my touch screen doesn't work. Is there a set of drivers that I can download to make it work again? This is the 64 bit version of windows 8

Yes. This is a HP support document that shows how to get your touch screen working again.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03488148

You hardware is supported by two points.

The driver that you are probably interested in is avaialble from the Windows Catalog, find the driver named "NextWindow - entry - Voltron NextWindow touch screen", version 3.1.6.0 and made for Windows 7, Windows Consumer Preview (size 27.6 MB) products.

  • Blue error screen 0x0000007B in Windows XP after installing KB977165 (MS10-015 - February 2010)

I updated 11 windows xp updates today from Microsoft.com and restarted my pc as it was asked to. (Certainly there was absolutely NO CHANGE in my installation of software or hardware apart from this updates)

Therefore, Windows cannot restart once again! It stops at the blue screen with the following message:

A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

    Technical information:

    STOP: 0 X 00000050 (0 X 80097004, 0 X 00000000, 0X00000001, 0 X 80515103).

I tried all sorts of relaunch option namely mode security etc.  but all comes down to the blue screen.

I hope that Microsoft technical support has an answer on how to solve this problem.

Please answer if someone has an answer.

    Thank you

    Hi @weiwei17,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your computer laptop 14-ac014tx HP and questions with your upgrade to Windows 10. Try to use the Windows Update Troubleshooter to fix the problem.

Here is a document that shows how update the drivers that do not work correctly with Windows 10.

HP has worked closely with Microsoft on developing for Windows 10. Currently there is no driver available for your system. You can try and check at a later date, because I see new drivers all the time.

Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant, if you need it. Simply download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that may need updating.

    Thank you.

  • mini iPad screen freezes and close Web pages

Recently, my iPod mini has been the screen freezes while on various Internet sites, and I was also watching a Web site when the Web page is suddenly closed and I am struck to the homescreen (which displays the grid of the app).  When the screen freezes, I have to do a hard reboot because the iPod does respond to any stimuli.  Freeze the screen became much worse after the 9.3.3 iOS and iOS 9.3.4, closing only started after that, the newest Web page updated.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Try resetting Safari. Close Safari completely from the window of the selector app by double clicking the Home button and slide up the preview pane of Safari until it disappears from the display. Then go to settings > Safari > clear the history and data from the Web site. Then restart the unit.
