HP Envy 7640: outgoing fax dials MY # instead of send the # of phone

I enter the fax # to send faxes. Fax automatically dials my number, so I naturally get a busy signal.

My phone # displays as compound then the number I want to fax shows behind the numbers of Informatics (20)... Print shows that. Have tried resetting, but continues to show number (mine) followed. To the number... And busy signal... The busy until I turn it off.

  • Try to remove prefixes of front Pages of outgoing Fax dialing rules.

I use Windows Fax and Scan program included in Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.  I used to use the fax software that was included in Windows 2000 Pro and have not experienced this problem.

The problem I have is this: when you send a fax to a business contact, if I use a dialing rule, prefixes used in the dialing rule appear on my cover Page in the fax number of the recipient field.  (This is moved when you use the same cover on the oldest of Windows Fax software page.)

For example, when you select the dialing rule to disable call waiting, fax number of the recipient on the cover then reads, "* 70, 555-555-5555" (the numeral 5 is used for the protection of personal information).

Any help, suggestions or direction is appreciated.

    Thank you.

Fax and scanning has never been designed to be an enterprise application. None of the Windows Fax programs were never and all the features varied considerably over the years.  Once upon a time, fully integrated Fax (sort of) faxes Outlook so received in your Inbox.  This changed when XP replaced 98.  Once upon a time, you could have your fax modem use distinctive ring. another loss.  Then Fax was fired from Vista Basic and Home SKU and available only in Pro and Ultimate, ignorant the fact that most users scan and fax are special and that most business users have a business fax solution and do not use it.  I hope they fix this problem, but I surely do not stand on one foot and hold my breath waiting for what he... Mind you, I added this to my list of things that they should fix and it will bring up the next conference call we have.

  • HP Envy 7640: How can I remove a computer from the list "Scan to" on HP Envy 7640?

I have a computer on my list of "scan to" on my HP Envy 7640, which is no longer in use.  How can I remove the computer name in the list?

With the help of Apple / Mac OS X Yosemite

    Thank you!

    I can't help but wonder if the computer is still on the same network as the printer. Even if you have no more than the computer, you may give it to someone else who uses the same network as you? I think it's weird that the printer is always to see the computer. If this computer and the printer are not on the same network, perhaps to restore the printer to the factory settings would help. To do this test, please complete the following steps;

    1. On the front panel of the printer, scroll down to the second main menu screen by sliding your finger to the right of the screen to the left
    2. Choose settings, or Setup
    3. Select printer maintenance
    4. Go to restoration
    5. Choose both restore factory default settings

Once this operation is completed, you will need to reconfigure the printer to your wireless network. Please let me know if this is the case. Thank you.

  • The configuration of the fax fails after you have reinstalled the software

I have an Officejet J4680 AIO and for some reason the pilots disappered? then I reinstalled the drivers using the full software download. Now, the fax configuration will not say that the cordis phone connected to the "EXT 2" which is the way it works for years and it's that way because it is connected to a DSL modem and because the phone has an answering machine on it. That's how I was told to connect to HP tech and the cable operator. Now that I have re-installed the software, he spends more fax test. The telephone cable from the modem is connected to line 1 and the phone is connected from 2 - EXT because it has an answering machine. Can someone explain to me why this is happening?

  • 7640 envy: Envy 7640 Fax to PC output.pdf automatic empty files KB 1 size

    Hello

It is the second time this problem, and I would like to know if there is a quick fix. The last time I had to set up the fax retrieval on another station since reinstalling the driver on the station which began to behave badly did not fix it. I would like to avoid having to reinstall windows, it's just a pain in the thigh.

The fax to the PC utility queries the printer for new faxes every 5 minutes and still does, but recovered files are incomplete. 1 KB, PDF empty. I don't know what causes it, and as I already mentioned, reinstall the drivers or setting up fax to new PC does nothing. The behavior is the same.

Any help is appreciated. In addition, please do not hesitate to get the technique, I'm a tech guy, but this problem goes beyond just from my experience with HP printers.

Yes, I do not blame you to suggest things like that, you're right, it could be anything.

I get upset with people who simply browse and do not pay attention to what I type. I consider it a job half done. It's not as if I had other options for a message. However, I digress.

This may help someone, if the firmware of the printer. It gets stuck after that some time and nothing will not get it to snap out of it outside a reset to the factory settings. The firmware version is not bad from July 2016. If something is published in the future, which can be is no longer the case.

This is the solution: reset the factory default 7640 and fax to pc / archive works again. Doing what I did will simply waste your time. I go with the reset first and then determine if everything else is to blame.

  • HP Envy 7640: Problem selecting a page scanned in on a HP Envy 7640

I'm on Windows 10 and have a HP Envy 7640 printer which I use for scanning. I was able to scan documents and photos. I have the latest drivers installed.

My question is when you scan a document of several pages how to choose to work on a single page. For example, if I scanned in 5 pages, how can I go back and delete page 2? In the lower left corner is select it all and deselect a button. But the button deselect Disable all pages and select it as all button selects all pages. I want to choose only a given page to work on.

If I scanned in 5 pages and the last page I want to rotate, rotation turn button as all 5 pages not only on the last page.

I before I was on Windows Vista with this printer and scanning software made it easy to work individually with any already digitized in page.

    Hello

Thank you for using the HP Forums.  You mentioned that you have installed the drivers, HP FULL feature software driver?

If this isn't the case, you can download and install the software COMPLETE features of HP printing for your operating system:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-envy-7640-e-all-in-one-printer-series/6617267/model/6617268#Z7_3054ICK0K8UDA0AQC11TA930C7

Once you have downloaded and installed the software, FULL of features, you will be able to print and scan.

Concerning your questions about scanning, followig resources will be able to help:

  • Want 7640 printer all-in-one: Envy 7640 Wnidows 10 teacher 64-bit wireless configuration

On the occasion of the installation wireless worked. However, every time there is an update to Windows or the DSL router is restarted the printer converts fax only or is not at all.  In 20 years I never found such a little messy feature.  Latest version of the software downloaded to the printer HP (full version), uninstalled all HP printer software, run Registry eval and cleaned up all references to the HP printer.  Restarted PC and printer.  With the help of the installation on the PC window I have reset default and then set up wireless for my LAN wireless option.  He finds an IP address on the local network.

When I ran Setup complete, concludes that the starting unit to address IP and then dish moved.  A cut a firewall protection and virus.  Good God!  I can't believe that HP could not do better than that!

It's hilarious.  Here's how it works.  Abandon the software HP Envy 7640.  Better, we can say is that it is lame.  Using Windows 10 ability to locate a network device and add it.  After days of fighting with the software really badly written that's all it took!

  • HP Envy 7640: Wizard of the printer does not - HP Envy 7640 UDCString_UDCName error

I am able to print, scan, copy and fax on my HP Envy 7640 printer very well.  However, when I click the icon HP Envy 7640 for the Printer Wizard just to check my ink level, for example, I get a script error.

An error has occurred in the script on this page

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?  YES NO

Before I can even click on YES or NO, the screen changes to show the following. There is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark next to this error:

When I click OK, I get:

    HP Printer Wizard

    Stop running this script?

A script on this page slows down your web browser to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive.

I connect to Internet through LAN.  My printer is connected to my pc through USB.  I do not use of wireless.

I did not any changes to software or driver.

I read through many solutions in this forum and tried several.  I disabled my firewall and antivirus first.  None of them have worked. I tried the SCLiteFix_299026.exe, the missing persons files difficult.  Did not work.  When I try to uninstall the printer and reinstall, I can't do that either.  I get error 2503 and 2502.

I want to just my printer wizard to work and have been unable to find a solution.

Maybe not all of these steps were necessary, but here's what I did and it worked! :

    (1) open HP Support Assistant icon on desktop.  It is a white question mark in a blue circle.

    (2) HP Support Assistant should show all HP devices.  Find your printer and click on UPDATES.  (Mine had no updates pending, but I clicked on UPDATE anyway)

    3) click on Diagnostics and tools

    4) click on HP print and Scan doctor.  Select your printer and click NEXT

    (5) you will get DIFFICULTY PRINTING and SCANNING of DIFFICULTY.  I chose the DIFFICULTY of ANALYSIS

    (6) when he finished, a screen opens and says "If you still have problems with your product, here are a few options for additional support.   Physically, I removed the printer cable to the USB port and choose "UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL with the latest version of the software".  I wasn't expecting to work, but he did.

    (7) I rebooted.  When my pc came, I began to other programs or applications.  I have disabled the firewall software and anti-virus temporarily.

    (8) I have re-inserted cable printer to a USB port

    (9) I open the HP Envy 7640 installation disc and click with the right button on the file: E7640x64.msi.  I clicked on install

    (10) software installed without error.  I then went to my office, clicks on the icon HP ENVY 7640 series... and VOILA!  My Printer Wizard now works!

    (11) I turned on my firewall and anti-virus back and I'm IN business

Hope these instructions can help someone else.

  • HP Envy 7640: Unable to set the scanning resolution

Have been unable to set the resolution of scan during the scanning of the glass in a computer file (pdf, jpg). Guide the user to the HP page 47 7640 said: "● If you want to adjust the size of the scan, output type, scan resolution, or file type and so on, start scan from the software of the printer."

    ● If you want to scan a document with several pages in a single file instead of several files, run it
Scanner with the software of the printer instead of the sweep of the screen of the printer".

First of all, where is the "printer software" to start the scan?

Have tried all this. When I opened the series HP Envy 7640 (network): Assistant of HP printer, I click on "Scan the Document or Photo a" place in the scanning area. No scan dialog box never opens. Actually I tried to reinstall the printer driver. No change. Always impossible to get a scan dialog box. In addition, when I go in the start menu and the title of the series 7600 HP: HP envy, I click on the HP Scan icon. After a long wait, a dialog box appears that says: "Cannot communicate with Scanner", and it offers a few options. The first is to activate the device (printer), and then on; the second, control cables (its wireless operation); the third: try the software "fix." Happy to report that after stopping then on and running assistant printer again, this time by pressing the "scan a Photo Document' results in the appearance of a dialog box to make the changes that I've been looking for.

    Hi dennistomlin,

    Thank you for your answer!

  • HP envy 7640: auto answer or the number of rings (what's the difference) and other parameters

I have a distinctive ring on my line. I trained the fax to recognize the correct fax ring. The problem is that when a fax arrives, it is not meet and receive but (on screen) asks me to accept the fax? What happens if a fax comes in the middle of the night. I won't be there to accept it.

I don't know if I should choose or auto answer (in the Fax preferences) off the coast .

I would logically assume that if I set the automatic answer on IT, if distinctive ring is detected, he would answer the fax.

I don't know why it would make a difference rings how I choose, if it detects the distinctive ring, because he must accept the fax when it 'hears' distinctive ring, no matter how many rings is selected. I would hear not rather the fax ringer and ringing if he can respond quickly. But of course, I want to keep it ringing until I answer if it is a phone call.

The fax should not reply if it does not detect the distinctive ring, regardless of how many rings is selected.

I want to understand how these two settings relate to each other when the fax is on the same line as the phone with a distinctive ring.

Is there documentation that explains the fax Preferences settings and the choices that you can refer me to? Otherwise, we're all just guessing on these parameters! Some are ovbious or explicit. Others?

for example, what is scan and fax method (On or Off)

    What is stamps?

What is the error correction mode?

    What is backup fax reception?

What is HP digital fax? (he says to refer to the operating instructions... There is no info in the manual of tiny)

    Thank you.

  • HP Envy 7640: HP Envy 7640 & Windows 8.1

Recently, we have replaced a Canon printer with all-in-one HP Envy 7640.

I'm having a lot of problems with this printer and suspect it has to do with Windows 8.1.

Printing to printer to computer take forever

Printer expires by printing the partial page

Print job appears on the what is printing, but then disappears and prints ever

Does not print .pdf, they can print a single page, then time out

Have had printer printing garbage characters or lines on the page instead of document

I tried to go to the HP printer install tool, but when he goes to the HP support page to get all the drivers is a blank white page.

I'm right next to me on all these problems.  I print a lot!  It's terribly frustrating, and I don't know what to do!

New laptop Toshiba running Windows 8.1 64-bit

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

    Hello @CampbellVA,

I'm glad to hear that your machine seems to work fine now after that the Microsoft fix took effect. The strange of print jobs coming out right after that patch running have been probably "stuck" in the printing on the Windows computer system. Corrupt print jobs can get stuck in your print spooler. The print spooler is the printing system built into your computer. This is a feature of the Windows operating system. All printers, regardless of the brand or the model based on the print to print spooler. In the future, if you want to check for all travaux work corrupt print in the print spooler, please follow the steps below.

    1. Open the screen, Start by selecting the Windows icon at the bottom left of your computer screen or by selecting the Windows key bottom left of your keyboard to the right of the Ctrl key
    2. In the start screen, type run. Click run.
    3. In the Run dialog box, type services.msc and click OK
    4. In the Services window, scroll down and select the print spooler. Just click on it once to highlight
    5. At the top left, select STOP
    6. Minimize the Services window, because I will need to come back here.
    7. Open the Start screen again.  This time type computer. Click on the computer (or on This PC) when it fills.
    8. Under the screen of the computer, select your Drive C
    9. Select Windows
    10. Select System32
    11. Select the coil
    12. Some PRINTERS. You can get a pop 'permissions' up, just continue past this screen.
    13. The PRINTERS folder must be empty. If all files in this folder they represent damaged print jobs. Right click on all files in that folder and 'Remove' them.
    14. Close the PRINTERS folder
    15. Reopen the window services and at the top left, select Start to start your print spooler.

All corrupt print jobs are deleted from your computer.

The printing problems in Windows 8 and 8.1 operating systems seem to affect various ranges of printers. It is not a problem specific to HP. rather, it is a problem in the Windows operating system. With the patch released by Microsoft to correct the different Windows 8 and 8.1 printing problems, there are very likely additional updates Windows Update published. I think that the best course of action to avoid future problems of printing would be to run your Windows updates on a regular basis.

Please let me know if your machine continues to react and print correctly for you!
