HP Envy Q005TX (J3Z15PA): HP Envy Q005TX video card information inconsistent memory

Hello. I just bought this laptop. The specifications for the video card is Nvidia GEForce GTX850M with dedicated 4 GB memory.

But when I clicked on the button Advanced settings in the screen resolution setting, it displays information from an Intel card without dedicated memory. Should I be worried?

How can I confirm that my system is equipped with 4 GB of memory card video, as shown in the ad?

Thank you.

Kind regards

Eric

Adding instructions are here. When you buy new memory be sure and go to the website of the manufacturer of the memory. Use only brands so that they ensure th your product compatibility. Use the memory Configurator tools on the website of the manufacturer of the memory. Here are a few major brands for you: Kingston, Crucial, Corsair:

Change the power supply: This video on youtube is pretty decent for generic power supply switching.

Thislinkhas information on opening the cover and remove the cover.

When you select a video card do not get cards great physically (i.e. ATI HD 4870 / 4850) because they are double wide and does not have limited space. Fantastic cards but are not for the pre-built PC.

Any ATX PSU fits your case. 450 watts or therabouts enough for almost any addition of hardware on your pc. Do yourself a favor and stick the best brands such as Corsair, OCZ and others. Generic brands are not worth the problems they can bring even if they are cheaper.

  • HP Envy H9 Phoenix - update video card?

    Hi all

I have a HP Envy Phoenix H9 PC with a pcie Ati radeon graphics card. I'm looking to upgrade, however, when I bought a nvidiagtx660 and placed in the pc, the screen was empty and could not find the signal. This video card works in my other pc so im wondering if my computer cannot return this card? Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Jon, welcome to the forum.

Here is a guide that you should read before you install the new video card.  If the new card is not compatible Secure Boot, you will need to disable it for the card to function properly.

  • Add HD 4850 video card in HP Envy 700-215xt

I want to add a Radeon HD 4850 HD-485 X-ZNFC video card in HP Envy 700-215xt (model: F9A62AV) whose video card (Intel HD Graphics, DVI - D graph) is too poor to run Samsung monitor (24in).  HD 4850 videocard needs connector 6 pin power, but I can't find the power connector or cable. What should I do?

The PSU minimum power, with a PCIe power connector 6-pin requirement is 450 watts.

Your PC has a 300 Watt POWER supply. Is not enough power for the XFX video card.

You must also upgrade the PSU to intensify your graphics card for a XFX HD4850 video card.

If you are unable to get a graphical output on the 24-inch display, then it is likely to be a problem with the display or the cable.  You may not be the entry configured to automatically recognize a video signal. You can test that by connecting the original display. If you get a video output to the original display there is nothing wrong with the motherboard or the CPU. Intel HD4600 graphics are provided by the CPU, not a graphics card.

  • Dv6 - Possible update video card envy?

I searched a bit, and I realize that it is probably the best place to ask. I have a beautiful laptop dv6 of HP ENVY with a NVidia GeForce 650 M GPU, and I'm looking into the possible upgrade.

Since there is a GPU integrated as well as a secondary GPU, other forums suggest that a GPU upgrade is possible. Has anyone successfully upgraded their ENVY laptop GPU?

I'm hoping to switch to the GeForce GTX 700 series.

    Thank you

    -Matt

    Hello

First of all there is no way you can put a GeForce GTX 700 series physically on your computer. Second, you could find a more powerful video card suits, should be considered:

    (a) heat: the map will be warmer, you must change the fans inside.

    (b) power: the existing charger may not work.

    (c) cost performance: $$$ / value

    Kind regards.

    @MagicToast, welcome to the forum.

I think that the card will be compatible with your motherboard.  It will be a tight fit, but if you do a few cables, it should be good.  However, you need to upgrade your power supply unit (PSU) at least 600 w.  The card requires at least 500W runs correctly.  I love Corsair products.  If you buy a modular PSU it will allow you to use only the cables that are absolutely necessary to allow better flow of air.  A more powerful card will create more heat.

  • The HP ENVY h8-1500z with a new video card upgrade

    Hello

My current video card is a 1 GB of Nvidia that came with the installer and requires more power.  I want to upgrade the video card for this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131562) this map requires power and this kind of care.

I opened my PC and it looks like the current power is 300W, but I do not see a card for a video about this card. My question is: Y at - it sort of an adapter I can use with existing PS? If I need to exchange the PS, can I use any power supply in this PC? It will be (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139050) to adapt and work? If not, what suggestions do you have?

    Thanks for the help.

Wanted to add that I am running:

    6-core AMD FX 6120 to 3.50 Ghz

    14 GB of RAM

    64-bit OS Win Pro 8.1

    NVidia GeForce GT 620

The graphics card, you want to install on your computer requires a minimum of 500 watts power. The Corsair CX500M that you access will work for your computer and work with your desired graphics card.

  • Want to 700-019 H5P24AA #BL: what is the side power maxiumum supported for a video card in Envy 700

I want to improve my HD 8570 delivered installed video card.

What is the rated power more of a video card that would work with the installed 450W power supply.

    CPU is 4770 I7 motherboard: MS-7826 (Kaili)

    Thank you

The 700 WANT referenced has a 460 watt POWER supply with a PCI-E 6-pin power supply.  In addition, this particular model PC has a version 8 for most graphics cards latest UEFI BIOS which are rated to work with a 460 Watt power supply would probably work.

Of EVGA has a NVIDIA GTX 960 modelthat requires only a single PCI-E power connector 6-pin. Other models of the EVGA GTX 960 graphics cards require a PCI-E power connector, 8 pins.

  • Problem upgrading the h8-1409 HP Envy video card problem

    Hello.

I just bought this machine and it has a good processor and ram good, but it comes with a card missing video (HD7570).  I want to upgrade the video card at one of the best maps I have of my old machines (Gigabyte GTX 660 ti and an Evga GTS 250).  When I install one of these cards but, I get no video output.  I can hear the initialization of the system and the hard drive works, so everything seems fine here.

This machine comes with a 460W power supply, which should be enough to run one of these cards, but no go.  In order to exclude food, I tried on a secondary market, OCZ 600W PSU, but got the same result.  Two cards work in my old machine, so I know that the cards are good.

The specifications of the main Board are here:

    http://h20000.www2.HP.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/document.jsp?objectID=c03132942

As far as I know, it should work.  Is there something I'm missing?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

Only use one video card in your PC and make sure that it is installed in the PCI-E x 16 slot.

Boot in the bios (ESC and F10) and go to security topics. Try each of the topics and search a secure Boot Configuration.  If it exists, then see if Secure Boot is disabled.  A poster said that secure boot disabling enabled the installed video card. I have not tried this on a HP active UEFI motherboard but I know that it isn't a problem with another mother UEFI card that I use.  Your mileage may vary.

  • Impossible to upgrade the video card on 810-109 Phoenix Envy

I bought a new desktop computer (810-109 Phoenix) and wanted to upgrade the video card. The new video card is a Zotac GTX 660. The thing is that the system does not boot with the new video card. I got continuous beeps from the system. I used 6 PCI-E power connector pins. The power suply is expected to support the video card, as it is listed as 600W and it is the wat recommended for the video card. I am runing Windows 8.1 64bits.

    Help, please.

    Hello:

When you add a video card no HP in a PC provided with W8/8.1, you will need to change 2 settings of the BIOS before installing the card.

    @Docta1, welcome to the forum.

Here is a video card that will definitely work with your computer.

The power supply unit (PSU) in the computer is stanard ATX.  I love Corsair products and recommend at least 600W.   A modular power supply is good for small boxes.  It allows you to use only the cables that are absolutely necessary.  This allows for better air circulation.  The video in my link card requires a connector 6 extra pins.
