My new Z930-118, with windows 7 64 bit home, does not recognize the external CD/DVD drive when I plug it into the USB port.

The CD/DVD device does not even appear at all in Device Manager.

The reader is a SE-S084 Samsun and works well on another laptop.

I already checked for the "upper_filter", "lower_filter" with the regedit, but entries are not there, so no help.

    Hello
I m not very well how to help you.

I found some information about this WEIRD disc and it seems that he didn't need an external power supply. Its USB bus powered so I guess around 500mA power since it is the default value provided by a USB 2.0 port.

I don t think that there is a problem of missing software. It is a plug n play device so you need to connect it to the USB port and the system should automatically recognise.

From my point of view of the few you try to connect the external USB ODD two ports to aid a * Y * Cableusb.
I think the reader needs more power provided by a single USB port.

  • IS does not recognize the drive HARD internal

I have three, all from a school lab, that have been linked with other positive points and printers.

They are connected are not together anymore.

All three have a floppy drive and a HARD drive. Will only boot from the HARD drive.

At startup, the other two do not recognize their HARD drive and I use ea disk with the system in this regard.

Since hard drives are not 'seen' I am unable to do anything with them: fix, set up as a boot drive, etc.

They begin with the usual chimes and the Mac with the question mark, I slip the disk in and they complete commissioning.

The internal drive spin up and the indicator light flashes.

They do not show the drive HARD internal on the screen, but will show an external.

I haven't started to swap parts between the good and the other two.

Does anyone have an idea on how to activate an invisible HARD drive?

You will need to use the boot floppy disks to start the machines to run the repair disk, partition and format the HARD drive if it is still functional. Only then can you install Mac OS on the HARD drive. That's all that I remember.

Can you help me? The operating system is Windows XP SP2

    Hello

You mean that the CD/DVD drive is not listed in Device Manager?
You see the CD/DVD drive in BIOS?
Check this box... If the CD/DVD is not recognized in the BIOS then it means that your CD/DVD drive is dead!

But if the CD/DVD drive is listed in the BIOS, and if in Device Manager, you see only a yellow exclamation mark then I recommend to remove (uninstall) the CD/DVD drive in Device Manager and restart the laptop again.

After restarting again the CD/DVD drive must be recognized again by OS

If you are looking for a driver for ODD then I would say; Forget it!
The OS of windows already contains the driver for the CD/DVD drive and it is not necessary to install other drivers. In addition, this drivers don t exist.

  • Bootcamp does not recognize the Windows 7 installation DVD

    Hi guys,.

I've never had a problem installing Windows 7 via bootcamp on my Mac, but it seems an impossible feat, right now! :))

I have a Windows 7 bootable *.iso, but since I'm on 2010 Macbook Pro, I have to burn it to a DVD and install from there (I can't find the disk of valuable facilities).

It is, every time that I burn it, it does not get recognized as a bootable DVD with bootcamp and not appear as a boot disk in the selection screen, you need to keep alt right after the startup chime.

I tried at different speeds (2 x, 4 x, 8 x). I tried to convert the image using disk utility and selection of DVD/CD master and burning at different speeds.

I'm in two DVD and I don't know what to do :) I've got El Capitan installed (so less disk utility options).

    Please help! :))

I was able to create a bootable USB 8.1 and the operating system is now operational. However, there is no reconition of the HARD drive only SDS. The last part of your post (smart test) says that it is defective. To confirm this further you can try to physically remove the hard drive and connect it to another computer as an external drive or a secondary drive for further tests using the manufacturer's diagnostic program. BTW, Seagate is the manufacturer of the disk hard so that you can go to their site and download their program.
