  • HP PROBOOK 450 GB: Can I update my motherboard with a graphics card

I have a hp probook 450 GB (i3, 8 GB ram, 1 TB), and I wonder if I cand update my motherboard with a graphics card. Is this possible? My motherboard is 1949 Hewlett - Packard (U3E1).

    Thank you!

The 450 G0 has either Intel HD 4000 or it can have switchable discrete Radeon 8750 M, but if you have the old, you will need to replace the whole motherboard to get one with Radeon graphics cards. Which may be prohibitive, but is theoretically possible. Can you replace your self? Parts will run a few hundred to a few hundred working (in dollars). You need the motherboard and a new radiator/cooling fan. Processor, wireless card memory could be reversed. Also your windows must be reactivated and eventually you will have to buy a new Windows license (which does not 100% the case) but Microsoft generally believes that it is a different computer if you swap out the motherboard.

If still interested we can guide you through the details.

  • If I update my motherboard I need to do a fresh install of windows

I do not remember what was told, but I want to update my motherboard. I think I remember from somewhere because if you upgrade or change your motherboard, you'll have to do a fresh install of your operating system. In my case, it's Windows Vista Ultimate OEM. Is someone can he tell me what are my options?

    you have 2 problems

    1. you usually reinstall vista after upgrading a motherboard as the operating system installed on the hard drive already has old drivers from the motherboard installed. so does not start

    2. you have an OEM license.

An OEM license is linked to the original equipment installed on

When the computer dies, the OEM license dies with him

Contact the manufacturer of the computer and see if they are willing to do what you want

  • Updated the motherboard, processor and RAM and upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, after upgrade the external hard drive encrypted with bitlocker will not enter the password.

Original title: bitllocker Windows 7 issue

I recently updated my motherboard, processor and RAM, but I kept my original 500 GB hard drive, and equipped with a hard drive 2 TB extra, after the upgrade, I downloaded windows 7 ultimate 64-bit. After the upgrade I plugged my external hard drive (which has all my stuff important on it, that is to say the photo, video etc.) to realize that I had he encrypted with bitlocker on my old sysem. It allows Me to enter my password, it looks for a USB flash drive key, I did not. My question is:

Can I replace my old system with the old motherboard, hard drive and the original RAM to remove the external hard drive for bitlocker?

I still have the file windows.old on my hard drive, I have to restore it and remove the most recent version of windows 7 off the drive. I do this before I rebuild my old PC? I'm stuck here and would not lose all my photos (the wife would kill me!) I would appreciate your help.

Reassembly of the old computer won't help. You will always need the key to open the Bitlocker.

Oh, if you bought a copy OEM System Builder of Windows 8 and not a retail Windows 8 Retail upgrade. Well, in this case, you're good then.

Activation of the phone just use:

  • HP g7: update of motherboard on the g7-1300 series for a g7-2000 series

New to the forum, search on this but has not found the answer I was looking for.

    I have a g7-1300, series updated since B960 cpu to an i5 - 2410 m.

Now, instead of buying a new laptop, I can get a motherboard the g7-2000 used for a small price (which has HM76 chipset so I can put end 3rd generation intel core CPU, has a better discrete gpu, support of usb 3.0 etc..)

I was check part numbers, specifications and images online and it seems to be that slight differences between 1300 series motherboard and a series of 2000, so I ask here, someone do such a thing? Replacing the motherboard with a series of 2000? Was this a correct adjustment? Everything worked fine?

Yes, I checked the compatibility of the chipset (since my i5 - 2410 m is HM65 and 2000 motherboard is HM76 HM76 in fact supports 2nd gen iCore)-it is even mentioned in this manual of g7-2000 equipment.

The display of connection and other cables will fit exactly? By comparing images and specifications in the manual of my motherboard and the 2000 one, I noticed that the hard drive light is on the right side in 2000 model, but I don't really care about that, I don't even bother with it. Sinks heat appear to be same too, so I can always get a used cheap for the corret later model.  And even if there is a port which may not fit in my case, I'll just cut out the frame, I don't like. What I care is physical connections.

Specifically, I would replace my current 650199-001 to a 680569-001.

Also, Yes, I'm really pushing it with this but I can not afford a new laptop and cannot have a fixed pc because I keep moving. And I love playing with my laptop I am doing this because I can get the motherboard for really cheap.

    Thanks for any help!

It does not appear as if it will fit. Look at the pictures of these two systemboards, and you will see that the boards mounting holes are not the same. This would also likely that external ports probably don't line up precisely enough to adapt to the back part of the base of the laptop case.

  • Re: Satellite A300 (PSAG8C-02W13) - can I update the motherboard?

Anyone know where I can update my card mother PSAG8C-02W13 of Toshiba A300? This is the worst phone that I never thought to do!

The graphics card is terrible and can't play a game! I mean what is this im wasting my money on this trash for you guys can convince me to buy another motherboard for this garbage! I didn't even know that they put such things in a laptop!

Can someone tell me where and how I can upgrade my laptop! It's funny how the only reason why I'm upgrading it is because of the terrible graphics card!

I found a nice page on the specification of laptop under http://www.directdial.com/PSAG8C-048013.html
There you can see that your laptop has SHARED graphics card. So I confirm what writes Akuma. If you want to increase the graphics performance, you must upgrade to RAM. Good thing is that your laptop can be improved up to fantastic 8 GB of RAM. You're lucky boy. My A300 works with 4 GB only.

Where to get compatible 4 GB of RAM? Visit the page of Kingston if you can find, contact Toshiba nearest service provider and ask to upgrade RAM or use google to find an online store where you can order.

In the hope of a quick and helpful answer

The upgrade of the motherboard will probably involve using a card mother type detail who will accept to install the material in the present.  Look for the one who is more recent that can support the PCI-E 3.0 specifications and still support the Intel Sandy Bridge processors and up to 12 GB DDR3-1333-PC3-10600 MB/sec memory.

You can read THIS ARTICLE on motherboards that support the Sandy Bridge processors.

Also remember that the OEM of Windows 7 installation will not transfer, so it will need a new license key.

  • Update BIOS motherboard TX of H-CUPERTINO2-H61-au

Hi, I ve had a little problem, I think, and I hope I ve posted in the correct forum.

I ve got a HP Pavilion p6-2055sc with a card mother TX H-CUPERTINO2-H61-uA. There is a Quad Core i3 processor in the computer and I would like to upgrade to i5. My first question, I suppose, is if this is doable?

I ve check the type of processor, I would need due to the (1155) and TDP. The one I am considering is the i5 - 3570 (unlocked) K. Is there anything else I need to consider given that it is feasible in all?

The way I understand it, I must first update the bios if the computer "will not recognize" the new processor and the passage to another will do no good. Is this correct and if I have to update the bios, will be later that of 2012 doing the work (the last one I could find on the HP support site) or should I simply give it up?

In the hope of assistance in this, any guidande would be greatly appreciated!

  • Update the motherboard and processor

Hi, I have a HP PC with a motherboard problem. (PC hangs and I can see several swollen capacitors) So since it must be replaced in any case I think I might as well upgrade the processor and the card mother together. The GPU and power supply are already upgraded.
How can I get a motherboard better which could be agreed in the case of HP?
And is there a way to know what the best MB/CPU combo is available which will always be compatible with my DDR2 RAM?

I'll appreciate any advice. Don't you think it's time for a new PC.  I will include the relevant specifications.

HP Pavilion Media Center m8430f desktop PC

    Motherboard manufacturer: Asus IPIBL-LB

    HP/Compaq name: Benicia-GL8E

    Micro-ATX: 24,5 cm (9.6 inches) x 24.5 cm (9.6 inches)

    Intel G33

CPU Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz
    Socket: 775
    Bus speed: 1066 MHz

    Thanks for the reply.

I installed my old GPU (Geforce 9800GTX) in this PC and things seem to work

a little better now. Maybe it was the new card BSODing my computer. Still I can see problems with the MB and do not know how much longer I have. So I still need to buy a new PC and could use some advise. I'm an older guy and my next PC will probably be my last so I'm worried about making a mistake.

I use my PC all day. Especially for playing video games and watching

movies and writing. I don't even have a TV. I use the computer for everything.
I tried to shop online for a PC for a while now. I used the

configurators to iBuyPower and CyberPower and I did research to build my own.
I have even a little in my cart to start HP right now. They all have their advantages

and disadvantages, but the main thing is that HP is the only one that I don't really trust.

I like this HP ENVY 700qe desktop PC. There the processor 'K '. He

is not a graphics card but compensates with 12 GB of RAM. I already have

a better graphics card that offers those HP is a good compromise to me.
I prefer Windows 7 Ultimate for Windows 8, so I'll change that right away. I have

already have a 7 license and can just pocket the 8 which is fine.
I would like to than the 256 GB SSD, but I think that their trade to the top is too expensive ($200) and

I can always do it later anyway.
I'm not too family with disk but cashing for $50, it's worth.
I don't know what a 15-in-1 multi slot card reader is but 6 USB ports must be better than 4, so I would choose this option.
I have better food they offer, but for $20, I'd get the 500W.

What do you think? What Miss me? And how do you like yours? You can get a better price if you shop somewhere other than HP Direct?

  • Update the motherboard on a Dell Dimension E520

I have a Dell Dimension E520 with an Intel Celeron 2 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, Windows Vista 32 - Bit for about a year now and the speed of the processor. But with 1 core is not enough. I opened the case and found that the CPU is soldered in to the motherboard and what it is not replaceable, so I replace the motherboard with one that comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHZ. My question is what can I replace the motherboard on it and what kind of specifications of the motherboard will work with Dell Dimension E520.
