HP is not a hard drive for upgrade

My HP Pavilion DV4t is only TWO months OLD and the hard drive is quickly drop to the top. I got a 160 GB based on my experience with my old desktop running Windows XP (I have much more space in the hard drive).

With my new laptop, I have only 70 GB of available, I think because of the huge amount of space used by Vista and the frequent updates of this operating system.

I ran the disk cleaned several times, I uninstalled software that I will not use and I have hardly any large files like photos or videos.

I contacted the technical support and after TWO HOURS of conversations, I have no resolution at all. HP says that they do not have a bigger hard drive in stock, so basically I will be stuck with a laptop that doesn't work if I can't upgrade my hard drive.

Please, let me know if you have any suggestions, because I have suffered enough in the hands of technical support.

Thank you!!

70 GB is still a lot of space hard drive... but if you want to release a bouquet empty files from system restore. Vista's system restore uses huge amounts. Run Disk Cleanup, but this time after scanning, click the "More Options". Now you should see "system restore and shadow copies" with a button of 'clearing '.

Click it and you should find a large part of the hard drive.

  • Satellite A105-S4074 - which HARD drive for upgrade?

I want to replace the Toshiba MK1234GSX (120 GB, 5400 RPM, SATA-150, 8 MB cache) hard drive on my A105-S4074 laptop with a bigger. My question is whether it is good to buy a Toshiba HDD no.

Available on direct to my computer Toshiba laptop is only the following HARD disk:
    HDDR320I02X
Toshiba 320 GB 2.5 "5400 RPM internal notebook hard drive - SATA"
    Capacity: 320 GB
    Interface: Serial ATA 150
    Speed: 5400 RPM
    Buffer size: 8 MB

I wonder if such a 320 GB or 500 GB WD HARD or Momentus drive will work very well, for example
-Western Digital 320 GB / 500 GB Scorpio blue SATAII 5400 RPM 2.5 IN. 8 MB in bulk / OEM hard drive (WD3200BEVT/WD5000BEVT
    -Seagate Momentus 5400.6 320/500 GB 5400 RPM / MIN SATA 3 GB/s 8 MB Cache 2.5 inch internal NB Hard Drive (ST9320325AS/ST9320325AS)

Also, is it wise purchase a 7200 RPM HARD drive for this laptop? Would this work?

    Thank you

    Hello

First on interface SATA there is no capacity limit. This means that you can buy each HARD drive with SATA interface and it should work fine.

It is also irrelevant if you buy a Toshiba, Western Digital, etc. There is not much difference between the models. It of your choice what you buy! ;)

Theoretically, 7200 RPM HARD drive should work but don t forget that they produce more heat and need more battery power. 5400 RPM should be sufficient for most applications.

  • Satellite A200-1QK - need new HARD drive for upgrade

I was planning on upgrading my A200-1QK (320 GB of HARD drive).

I was looking for a HARD drive with more space and possibly with more speed, I work with the composition and recording of the audio mixing software and libraries tend to consume a lot of space (I know that an Office would be the best option and I have one, but sometimes I need a more portable solution). I even thought connecting the BONES a SATAII external 1 TB HARD drive but I don't know if it's possible.

Well, but the question here is:
What are the technical proprieties that I should look for in a HARD drive so it works on my laptop?
Y at - it no avaible 7200 RPM for laptops? I'm looking for some 500 GB or larger.

    Thanks in advance =)

    Hello

Theoretically, you can buy a HARD drive with 7200 RPM, but it produces more heat and need a little more power as a 5400 RPM model. So it of your choice what you buy. ;)
You can buy each portable 2.5 HARD drive with SATA or SATA2 connector. If you are looking for a small tray on online shops, you should find enough hard drives of 500 GB at 7200 RPM.

I have good experiences with Hitachi and Western Digital hard drives.

  • Upgrade hard drive for computer laptop dv6626us

I searched for the hard drive on my laptop dv6626us upgrades. When I read the comments they seem to all be positive with regard to the replacement of my current (factory loaded hard drive). One of the concerns is that the computer has been delivered to the factory with Windows XP loaded. I don't see the comments of those who have Windows 8.

Upgrading the hard drive for the dv6626us with windows xp installed at the factory would be compatible with the hard disk depending on whether I have found as being compatible for windows 8.

recommended update: Seagate portable, SSHD hydrides disk HARD 1 TB Sata-600 n/p.

The hard drive I have on the computer named above is: WD Scorpio WD1600B EVS - training 60RST0 settings: LBA 312581808.  This hard drive has been charged at the factory.

    Hello mikee1960,

HP does not have hardware support for Windows 8 on any system purchased before October 1, 2011.  Most of the Windows 7 drivers work in Windows 8.

Check out this page to see if your computer has been tested by HP with Windows 8.

You can run the Upgrade Wizard, which will scan your PC and report on what is currently installed on your PC is compatible with Windows 8.  This guide was updated for Windows 8 provides lots of information which is needed for all those planning the upgrade.

Yes, you can reinstall Windows 7 OEM System Builder License on the new hard drive with the new processor.

It will not be a problem in this case, since you don't "move" installation, you are doing a new installation. The less it will take is activation of the phone, as you change the hard drive:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

    (6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

  • How am I supposed to install windows 7 on a laptop computer that is not a hard drive

Well, I just got Windows 7 for my laptop, but it's not a hard drive. How do I get there for free?

    Hello

    · What is the number and the model of the computer?

    · Has the operating system installed on the computer it pre-installed?

If the operating system came pre-installed on the computer then you can contact the computer manufacturer if they provide for the free upgrade to Windows 7.

See also the link below which has options on how to install windows 7 on a computer that has no DVD player. Link: Install Windows 7 on a netbook: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/installing-windows-7-on-a-netbook

  • Hard drive for vaio vpceb36fg

    Hello..

I have a vaio laptop vpceb36fg. Since its hard drive has crased recently, I want to buy the spare for the same hard drive. Please let me know compatible hard drive of my laptop. Is it possible to upgrade hdd to ssd. If so please write vpceb36fg-compatible ssd.

I'm looking forward to your reply

    satish_9,

According to the specification, this unit uses a SATA hard drive.  You can buy any SATA hard drive, as long as it is a 512 industry player and not the player new sector 4 k.  To answer your other question, Yes, it is possible to replace the hard drive for an SSD...

My MBP is showing a "Remote Disc" in the list of devices. It's not a hard drive. So where did it come from? I 'get info' on this subject, but it doesn't tell me a thing.  He sees the disk drives elsewhere in my house? It's to see my iPhone as a remote disc? The photo with him is a DVD or CD gold. It drives me crazy.  I am running OSX Sierra.

  • Replacement hard drive for Portege P2010 - part number required

Can someone tell me what is the part number for a replacement hard drive for Portege P2010 is? It has the latest version of the BIOS installed, if the capacity of the HARD disk can be greater than the original 30gig?

    Thank you

    Hello Martin

Unfortunately I was found no specific information. If I'm right, this unit needs 1.9 HDD and I think it can be much more expensive as 2.5 standard.

Check it please this page http://www.laptopbits.co.uk/Database_files/Toshiba_Portege_2000_and_2010_series_spares.htm
You will find a few pieces of upgrade for your device.

  • Compatible hard drives for Portege 3480CT

    Hello

I have a Portege 3480CT and I need to replace its 12 GB (IBM & reg Travelstar) drive hard internal since the former on a developed bad blocks. Now, I assumed that it would be relatively simple, but I was wrong.

In any case, I got a replacement 2.5 "HD (this time a Hitachi Travelstar, 20 GB drive), but I couldn't make it work. I ran the program from IBM/Hitachi diagnosis and while the old 12 GB HDD is detected and removed ok, the 20 GB does not even get detected (i.e., seems that nothing is on the line of the IDE).

It was suggested to me by IBM and Hitachi that there is a list of compatibility to their hard drives, and may not be supported (http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/compatibility.htm), but I could not find my disc on their list (model is HTS424020M9AT00). Basically, what I want to know is what drives * are * compatible or what my problem with the laptop is otherwise.

For more info, when I try to install Win2k, I get an ArcRead failure, probably because he thinks that the drive does not exist.

    Thank you.
    Stuart

    Hello

I guess that there is problem with drive HARD and false parameter who decide if the HARD drive is the master or slave.

In my opinion you should contact the Service partner to ask them which HDD is suitable for your device. You can also check on the net and picking up some information because there are a lot of different suppliers where you can buy the HARD drive. I also found information that it is possible to use the 40 GB HARD drive for your unit, but it must be built in by seller.

  • Adding 3rd hard drive for HP Pavilion Elite m9250f

I have a Pavilion Elite m9250f running Windows Vista Home 64 bit. The computer currently has two 500 GB hard drives for a total capacity of 1 TB. I would like to add a third drive to increase storage capacity.  I have a SATA to 2 to and cables. When I tried to install the new drive above the two existing disks, he did not slide smoothly. When I removed the already highest reader, I could slide the new drive into but the screws are not line up properly with the new drive. This leads me to believe that I can not install a third drive in the Bay. Is this a correct assumption?

I have an available expansion Bay below the optical drive but am not sure that it is usable for a hard drive. If the use of the expansion Bay is possible, do I have to buy a hook or how to mount the drive in this space?

If necessary, I can copy the data from the secondary drive on an external drive and replace it with the new drive. However, I need confirmation that the secondary is the player in the foreground of both in the hard disc enclosure.

    Thank you for your help.

If the task under the existing optical Bay is open, just use an adapter to fill the space and to mount the drive in there.  Make sure of course that there is a power cord and a SATA port.

  • Tecra S1 - Bios does not detect HARD drive

Hi, first time poster, long drive date.

I have a friends laptop with me an old S1, its hard drive has failed. (Even tried it on my USB adapter to diagnose).

I had another IDE HDD which works like a dream.
I can even install Windows up to a point with the exception of when the computer wants to do the first restart of the second phase of the installation. (Not on CD).

In the bios the HARD drive is not detected a 0 MB for the read command.
I tested the USB HARD drive. So works perfectly. will try another hard drive there tomorrow see what is happening.

I tried the recovery CD aswell. But she also can not detect the hard drive.
Finally, I even reflashed the Bios even if it was the last version 2.50.
    Still did not change.

If I'm just at a loss here. Tomorrow I'll do the following.

Try a 3rd HDD IDE into the machine.

Opening of the case and see if I can find the CMOS battery to replace or remove for a minute or 2 to see what is happening.
Is obviously a problem of bios of the HARD drive is detected. Has anyone ever encountered this before?

Windows / ERD Commander / Partition Magic 8 all finding the end hard drive.
Thanks for listening to my dribble that I feel like I'm banging my head against a wall being close.

    Kind regards

    Dave

What drive did you use and what size it it?
I think that not all HARD drive would be compatible because of the 28-bit LBA.

The 28-bit LBA supports hard disks up to 128GB and if the IDE controller supports only 28-bit LBA then it may happen that more large drives would not be recognized by the BIOS.
