HP laptop - 15-f211wm (contact: Windows does not not misdiagnosis)

2 days ago, my laptop worked fine. Yesterday, it took a lot of time to start abd, once past the windows welcome screen could not load. After about 20 min it says windows failed and the program needed to close.

Today, I was finally able to get into the diagnostic mode and got the following information.

I understand that the laptop suddenly cannot be started, and you got the error code "qbxw13 - st 7, 861 - mfpwmf - 60ra03" after the test hardware.

It seems that one of the drives needs to be replaced. Back up your files if possible. Contact the HP support by phone to repair the laptop is still in warranty.

    My laptop seven year old made me proud til yesterday, but now it does not fire upwards. Instead, it hangs for a minute or two (black screen, no HARD drive light blinks, nothing), while it charges to a screen with two options - either start the system restart or start Windows normally. The second option takes me around the loop again. The first option tells me that it cannot fix the problem automatically. When I display the error details, it lists all of the tests, as adopted successfully, but ends with the words: "Root cause found: failure so that the Setup program is underway.

    I'm sure I know why she fell: two days ago, I left all my files on a portable player and defragmented the disk. The idea was to speed up the machine and get it running like new.     If you really want to resurrect, you could certainly purchase a new hard drive and try to restore the system of work using the recovery media - but then, even if it did work, you would have still lost all your data, settings, and applications in the process - and having to reinstall all your applications everywhere again.

    Hey, don't feel bad, I'm guilty of this too - has recently attempted to resurrect an era Tablet XP PC so that it can run Win10!  He went from XP to Vista, Win7, for Win8 - and along the way, gains of new memory and drives hard - but the Win10 bet was too.  So, I got to a "give up to use it.

    However, I also kept a cell phone 5 year alive by replacing the HDD with a SSD and adding more memory.  So now it is faster than ever, it has been and works like new.

    But... He has NO touchscreen, there no USB3 ports, it doesn't have 1 GB ethernet - and the list goes.

    Thus, it works very well for what we use it for - but it can't really be upgraded, so sooner or later, we will have to replace it.

    Everything depends on how much you need 'new' - touch screen, stylus, handwriting, camera, 3 USB ports, display port jack, HDMI ports... etc.

    If you are unable to access the BIOS, or to load the Windows operating system, and then a serious hardware problem is present.
    Eventually he s a motherboard related question that means it could be a faulty motherboard or just a small part of the motherboard as a ROM chip for example.
    I doubt this can be fixed without help the ASP.

    There is thus only one real solution. go to ASP. Guys must verify the simple parts to determine what part is affected.

    I recently bought a laptop HP 15 - D103TX , which is held responsible for Free on BACK. I have updated my Windows 8 operating system and have installed all the drivers from the HP website. The laptop has dedicated 2 GB Nvidia Geforce 820 M graphics card.

    But when I checked, I found that Windows displays the graphic memory dedicated only 0 MB.

    Okay, I found the solution. In fact, the Haswell Intel i5 processor that my 15 HP D103TX has also comes with an Intel 4600 GPU intregated. So when I do normal tasks, the GPU intregated works, so Windows does not display the NVIDIA GPU 820M, but when I play a game or doing intense graphics work, he switches to the NVIDIA one.

    In fact, it makes sense, because it preserves the battery of the laptop.

    More great frustration in my life have laptop brand new, this for me.

    After that the laptop goes into mode 'sleep', I'm not able to go back to Windows. All light are there and watch as usual, but there is no Lenovo Welcome logo or any other sign of normal behavior. I can turn it off by holding the button market / stop, but when I turn back the problem is still there. Windows does not start.

    I was able to go back to Windows that day after leaving just laptop without any power and battery.

    I called Lenovo and they suggested to disable the standby modes use put into hibernation. I did it. When the screen saver started, something went wrong, computer got froze and I had to restart, but then again, black screen and no reaction.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    If you are unable to enter the BIOS (F2) at startup settings there must be some serious hardware problem.
    I recommend to contact your local dealer where you bought this laptop and ask for help, or you can contact Toshiba service provider directly.

    What you have tried to do is good but if laptop doesn t allow you to enter parameters of the BIOS something wrong here, and you need professional help.

    Have you disabled the Windows Firewall before you start with the installation of Comodo Firewall? As far as I know, Portege R830 is delivered with preinstalled McAfee security software and you must remove this program before you install other security tools.

    Generally this has nothing to do with Toshiba and it s advisable to contact Comodo directly. They may know about this so they can give you a proper answer.

    But I put t understand why this program is so important to you. Windows already has an internal firewall so that these programs are not necessary in my opinion. Just install a good antivirus like AntiVir and enable the automatic updates of Windows. All that s!

    If you run the Toshiba recovery application, you will lose all your data.  As indicated in the warning, this application will restore the computer back to wherever it was when it was first delivered by the factory.

    Without other complementary diagnostic information, it is difficult to determine what is happening.  Pressing the key (do not hold) of F8 beginning immediately after that the sequence of power should bring you to the Advanced Boot Options menu.  Try again then press repeatedly the key rather than pressing on and now.

    The recovery CD Toshiba, you have probably does not allow a "repair installation".  Contact Toshiba to see if they will provide you with a suitable CD.

    Given the fact that you can get a useful place when you start with the Toshiba Recovery DVD, my guess is that the computer is OK but that the hard drive has failed - or maybe more likely - the startup information is damaged so that it does not start.  If you have access to a computer equipped with a burner, download and create a bootable Windows CD.

    There are a number of available bootable CD which include various recovery and diagnostic tools.  You'll have to do some research to find out how to use the tools.

    If you feel overwhelmed by the tools and I just want back the data, and then use the Toshiba Recovery DVD, make you a Knoppix CD and use this key to your data, preferably on a network connection.

    If all this sounds like too much for you - and there is no shame in admitting that--take the laptop for a good local computer repair shop (not a type BigBoxStoreUSA or rather GeekSquad) and ask them to check it out and make sure to recover your data before anything else.

  • Toshiba Satellite C55-C1K1 - 10 Windows does not work

    Bought one for my mother and it has been a nightmare. The first was a problem with the keyboard that caused it typing random characters on the screen.

    The replacement worked very well for about two months, now the touchpad has stopped working. I use the touchpad in the BIOS, so I know that is not a hardware failure. Tried all the drivers available, including the MOMENTUM (which shows a CRC problem) on the Toshiba site and nothing would work. Tried reinstall of keeping my files didn't work. Then finally took an image of the disk and installed a full Windows 10 and it STILL does not work.

    So what am I, I wanted to now install Windows 8 on it and see which will work. Why Toshiba push 10 windows on people when they did not ensure that the software and hardware are compatible.

    UPDATE.

    I installed Windows 8 on the laptop, and STILL the touchpad does not work. Finally I found a thread on another site, that said that for another model of C55 - A (similar) of Toshiba, the solution has been updated to BIOS. So I downloaded the latest BIOS update and installed. Restarted after the update, and the touchpad started working again. Restarted a few times and it still worked.

    Finally imaged original return 10 Windows operating system on the hard drive, and the touchpad and F5 (activeent/desactiveent) both work now. Toshiba needs to have a note sent with these laptops or to have a reminder. Two days lost on this nonsense.
