HP laptop, Windows 7, computer laptop possessed

Hello

I went to sleep last night and when I woke up, the dock has moved around and now when I move the cursor on it, the hidden bar reappears vertical vs horizontal at the bottom of the screen. Even the text verticle, and I can't seem to find solutions by searching in the settings of the computer or control panel. When I right click on the dock I can't deposit boxes provide all links related to this issue.

Anyone have any suggestions of troubleshooting?

Thank you

Noelia

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

Ask them of the exact key sequence

  • New Windows 8 connect to a homegroup based on a Windows 7 computer.

I have a new computer running Windows 8 and a residential group based on a Windows 7 computer, two flags of HP 64-bit.  My problem is that, after not having not used for several hours, the machine of Windows 8 does not connect to the homegroup.  The message itself, is that the network address is not recognized.  When I click on the button "Diagnose" the message comes back saying my connection has been refused by the host, I guess this means that the Windows 7 machine where rests the homegroup.

Should the residential group rely on the machine Windows 8?  The connection is wireless and I made sure none of the adapters are disabled in the settings of power on both machines.  The new machine has replaced a Windows 7 laptop which had been in place for 18 months and works fine but on cultivated.

The problem has proved to be a parameter in Windows 8, which enabled him to turn off the different hardware components to save energy.  One of these components has been the network adapter AND the wireless adapter.  Souinds as two different things for me, but they are actually the same thing, so only change the network card like HP told me does not resolve the issue.

My son-in-law has suggested that since the machine is a desktop computer, and I never turn off any way, just deselect all options of conservation of power on the components.  As soon as I put the wireless adapter, everything was fine.

Windows 8 or the way the machine is design for energy saving, all went a little over Board.

  • Upgrading a network to Windows Vista to Windows 7 computer

I have a home network (XP based) which works very well for years.  Three computers, two printers, and all worked very well together.  It's just my wife and me, and network security has never been a high priority.  Now, I want to add new computers to the system, one is a Dell with Windows Vista laptop. and it is a HP with Windows 7.  I followed the Network Wizard I used before creating the network; I created a file and was walking and it ran on all of the old and new computers.  The two XP machines can still talk to each other fine, the Vista machine can see two XP machines - but the machines XP get a window "permission error" when trying to access the Vista and WIndows 7 machine is on an island, he sees not all computers and all computers get a login screen before you can access the Windows 7 machine; even if we have no password on the Windows 7 computer.  As I said - it's just my wife and me, and we have no password or sign ins on all machines and would like to keep this simplicity.  FYI - all thte computers can access the internet fine and all use the same router to do.  Please tell us how can I better return to the situation that I had before where I could sit to one count; access to all the others, without a bunch of security and authorization issues.

Firewall is not the issue - have the same problem with a firewall on both machines offshore.
Exact error message: "network error.  Windows cannot access \\Thor.  You are not allowed to access \\Thor.  Contact your network administrator to request access. »

    Hi Robby HR,

    1. What is the exact error message when you try to access the files from Windows 7 computer?

    2. have you enabled turn on file and printer sharing option on the Windows XP computer?

    Method 1:

I suggest you give full permission for the shared Windows XP computer printer to share the printer.

See step 5: from following link to give permission to the printer.

Sharing files and printers with different versions of Windows

    Method 2:

I suggest that you turn off the computer Windows XP security software and check how it works.

    Follow the steps below.

    a. right-click on the icon of antivirus software on the lower left.

    b. then, select Disable.

    Caution:

Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Hello

If there is no consideration of security, you can activate the account invited on all computers and configure the authorization for it.

Problems of permission and security with Vista/Win7, check the following settings.

All the users who are allowed to share need to have an account on all computers that they are allowed to connect to.

Everyone is an account, that means a group of all users who already have an account now as users.

Using the functionality of all saved the need to configure authorization for each of theestablished users, it does mean not all those who feel that they would like to connect.

Users who do not have an account on the computer are not part of the Everyone group.

If the LAN security is useless and users are not established, then move on the guest account provides the semi-open configuration.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-the-guest-account-on-or-off

    ---------------------

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

    In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

    * Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

  • Windows Vista computer Internet

I have a windows vista computer, about 7 years or more. The internet worked fine, then I restored my computer to factory. I can't connect to the internet more, I think I need to update my computer but I can't do with Internet. I tried to manually update the internet card by my laptop window 10 but I can't do it yet. I also have a map of the internet 2.0 Wireless usb. that no longer works. Sometimes with connections wireless and when I type the password in the unable to connect to this network said. so I uninstalled this card. and when I try to use a cable to connect, it connects but no internet access there. any ideas how to solve this problem?

Open Device Manager and look at the network cards.  What cards are present and they have their drivers, or they are in the wrong with a yellow! the brand?  If no network adapters are present, it may be listed as an unknown device without driver or a network controller.   Device - Manager find unknown devices

On the other PC, see the page Web of Support downloads for the PC model to download the network card on a flash key you are using (Ethernet or wireless).  Transferer transfer on the Vista PC, install the adapter and see if you can get online.  If there is more of a network LAN driver is draw in Device Manager, the machine using material identification or download them all and try to install one at a time.

Do the same for all the other pilots missing in Device Manager.

Once online, speed up Windows updates in order to conform to the date that they ceased to support Vista.

    Report all results.

  • Firefox will always be a way course surf the web using a Windows XP computer after that leaves Microsoft support Windows XP?

Windows XP is still my favorite operating system, but Microsoft will give up support in the coming days. If I understand correctly, shortly after which using Windows Internet Explorer to surf the web on a computer running Windows XP (or can) make the computer vulnerable to piracy. It will be the same for the use of Mozilla Firefox on a computer that is running Windows XP?
I think I saw an ad for Google Chrome with that they would continue to support the browser for use on a Windows XP computer. I think that Google said they would keep releasing patches to secure the Chrome. Can anyone confirm that and more importantly, is Mozilla Firefox secure? Also, should I uninstall Internet Explorer on my Windows XP computer when leaving Microsoft support?

Note - I am posting this with a newer computer that works under Windows 7 64-bit.

Firefox will continue to work with Windows XP. At best, in the near future, I could see the required configuration to encountered to Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (obligation is SP2 for now). Security in Firefox patches are the same, regardless of the version of Windows you are using.

Keep in mind that without security updates, the operating system itself will be precarious. What browser and software security that you use will not change.

Internet Explorer is a component of the system, and you should not attempt to remove it in Windows Vista and lower. From Windows 7, there's a way of kind of uninstall from the control panel.
