HP M6-1211TX and DDR3L

Hi all

I have searched an answer for my question, and it is difficult to find the answer. I have recently purchsed the M6-1211TX HP and I plan to upgrade the RAM. But when I bought the RAM, I didn't know that until that I already get it it's a DDR3L (SODIMM) when I thought it was a DDR3 (SODIMM).

My question is the DDR3L will work on the M6 - 1211TX HP?

Hello:

The only information I could find is that the processor of your laptop supports two types of memory.

Please see the specifications of types of memory on the link below.

http://Ark.Intel.com/products/72164/Intel-Core-i5-3230M-processor-3M-cache-up-to-3_20-GHz-rPGA

Now, I don't know what the outcome would be if you have a 1.5V DDR chip now and add a chip DDR3L 1.35v.

    Hello

    1. don't you cannot replace the video card. The series has only 2 options (depending on the CPU):

    Switchable discrete graphics:

    • N16P-GT from NVIDIA (GeForce 950 M) up to 4096 MB of dedicated video memory (256Mx16 DDR3 900 MHz x 8 PCs, 1 GHz, 900 MHz bridge) (Skylake-H)

2 no, it ONLY supports DDR3L RAM. Please note: DDR4 RAM does not have slots DDR3 and DDR3L.

    Kind regards.

  • No matter if I use DDR3 or DDR3L iMac 27 "5 k (end of 2015)?

Hi all!  Thank you in advance for your help!

    My question:

Does it matter if I use DDR3 RAM in my new iMac (iMac17, 1) or should it be DDR3L?  Essentially, comment DDR3L but Apple's site just said DDR3L.  (I know not the speed, etc that I need, I wonder about the difference between DDR3 and DDR3L).  The L is more compact.  Is how important this in the iMac?

    Once again, thank you!

There is a voltage difference where DDR3L uses a voltage lower than DDR3. It should not make a big difference that you are using, but it is always best to use that meets the plug Apple what just atate DDR3. That's what you use. The resources are:

  • HP s 4330: cannot install Windows, freezes before restarting. [solved: chipset defective stepping]

    Hello!

I am banging my head on the wall with this case, can not understand, how to proceed.

My experience: I worked a few years as a computer store technician, especially on desktop computers, so at least vaguely, I know what I'm doing, and I'm very careful when handling material.

Background of the computer: I got a used HP 4330 s after the deceased family member. No fringe, pretty clean, no damage or traces of fall release. He had dead hard disk (click), broken DVD (engine brackets bent, I am told it is a child work) and was very dusty (blocked fan). I removed the optical drive, carefully removed all the dust, replaced heat is dedicated to the Sub CPU and put inside SSD, I took my other machine (erased). In the BIOS, I went from starting EFI.

I jumped into the USB with Windows 8.1 fresh install, which ran well, until he wanted to restart. Screen went blue/violet (same color as the background of the normal installation), and it stopped, no disk activity, nothing. I turned to bike it, Windows installation proceeds, but failed. This is repeated several times.

Steps I took to solve the problem:

-Legacy mode and I tried to install again, same result.

-Memtest Ran, past, memory switched to a few specimens (DDR3 and DDR3L), tried both slots, pass all, Windows will not complete the installation.

-Traded stock to i5 - 2520M i3 CPU I had to hang out, which has been removed from the machine work (during upgrade), same result.

-Done everything once again, this time without the battery and using big HP 120W 85x0w charger, same result

-Exchanged on a different disk, same result.

-Try exchanging AC7260 network card, only to discover he is blacklisted (* beep *?), removed wifi do map altogether, no change

-Traded thumbdrive to another, and I tried two different Windows 8.1 relies

-Turn off all devices in the BIOS, except USB.

-Tried to install Ubuntu, only to find out that it works perfectly, but it will not boot from EFI, had efibootmgr shows the correct entries, laptop says that it cannot find the operating system.

-Hiren Boot CD with BartPE is Windows XP starts and works very well.

-Check time CPU, at a time using reporting and pirometer software, it does not exceed 65 degrees Celscius in any moment, which is well below the critical temperature on both processors.

BIOS is F47. To my surprise, it is newer than what I can find in the download page (F07?).

Can what steps I take to close on the issue? I would leave it under Ubuntu, but I need Windows on this computer, and I'm afraid he's going to go belly up.

    Last updated.

First of all, doughjohn - problem is not in the initiation of the stop, but it will not accomplish the closure. There is almost everything disabled except BNT kernel and the video driver.

The problem has been very difficult to diagnose, until I found a friend who also had the same machine.

    And here's the final solution:

Like unbelieveble as it is, all three motherboards have manufacturing defects.

Problem is the chipset: all of them, as, as I suspected, have Cougar Point B2 chipset with SATA bug. This degrades the connection of the HARD disk. There were two clues: USB3.0 adapter SATA with Windows 8.1/10 work and fine closures. Same disk moved in the hard drive bay or optical Bay can not close correctly and works over slow (!). Second, was my friend who had same 4330 s specifications, but without problems. I disassembled the machine and to my surprise he chipset B3, with visible signs of flow around it, and fix the markings certified HP. This laptop was RMA would once. I moved my installation to his mother, and he also starts very well on SATA ports.

This is the first (and only) for laptop with Sandy Bridge-era components that suffer from a degradation of link chipset primary HARD disk SATA lines I've seen so far.

To sum up: HP, your fault this time.

I sold the laptop and I'm looking for a new machine, it will probably take HP 6470 B, if I can find all the components.

Thank you for all those that the air here and offered advice and guidance. I really appreciate your help!

  • ThinkPad E530 Max RAM upgrade

    Hi all

    My laptop is E530 and Corei5 3210 TM processor @ 2.5 GHz.

    The tech specs here says:

Ivy Bridge compatible DDR3 and DDR3L. But you can buy DDR3L (1.35v support) for the extra battery life, it gives you.

Also note that when you buy a module of memory for your laptop, you buy a SODIMM and not a bar of MEMORY. Modules DIMM is longer and does not fit into a laptop. SODIMM is made for laptops.

Note that if you have doubts, you can call technical support and they can understand all of this for you. Or you can buy the memory from the link I posted above.

If you have a DDR3 module installed and you insert a DDR3L module, both will run to DDR3 specifications. The module DDR3L simply starts to operate at a higher voltage.

    Hello

I have a black screen after upgrading RAM. I checked the forums online for this problem, but so far, I have yet to find something that rectifies the problem. I put my old RAM (4 gb) in updating the BIOS successfully there still tried my new RAM (8 gb) which I checked online to confirm that it is compatible. Everything inside the laptop is certainly connected correctly, I'm not sure what else to try - the laptop is light while the new RAM is installed, but you screen is empty, fine then when I re - install the old RAM.

    Thank you

    @Andyb26

    DDR3L.

Yes, it can be the root of the problem.

I've seen some portable computers, where you can use.

But the real problem is when you try to mix DDR3 and DDR3L.

No startup error, no problem in the BIOS, but it seems that the RAM so meticulously, I bought and installed decided to be invisible in what concerns the rest of my computer is concerned.

I guess the silence simply means that everyone is puzzled. The only explanation is that some type of disconnection between the BIOS and the SPD in the memory modules. I can't even imagaine what a solution might be except BIOS somehow change this will not happen. I guess the memory otherwise works well.

  • Locations of upgrade/ram 15-F018ca

I want to upgrade the ram. I tried to replace the single module of ram accessible user under the laptop by a same specification 8 GB module (but critical) and he refuse to start. Tried it with a few other DDR3 and DDR3L (4 GB and 2 GB), but the only one that works and start the laptop is the original one (samsung 4 GB-pc3-12800).

Two questions: in the manual the user and on the seller's Web site, they all list it as location accessible ram user two. In the bios/boot utility / tool mentioned this slot/2 is empty. So where is it? (you will need to disassemble the laptop to access?)

And what memory is known to be a good match for this series of portable? (if there is a second slot 4 + 4 GB configuration will suffice but if not which module of 8 GB is compatible?)

    Hello

The manula says clearly to the #1 page:

Two module slots no customer-accessible/upgradable memory SODIMM (Core i3 processors)
DDR3L-1600-MHz dual channel support (DDR3L-1600 dual channel)

A module slot no customer-accessible/upgradable memory SODIMM (Pentium, Celeron processors)
    Support DDR3L - 1 333 MHz dual channel (DDR3L-1600 demoted to DDR3L-1333)
Support DDR3L-1066-MHz dual channel (DDR3L-1600 demoted to DDR3L-1066)

    ● 4096 MB (4096 MB × 1 or 2048 MB × 2)
    ● 2048 MB (2048 MB × 1)

  • Problem on Windows after upgrading RAM

I have 6 years, Alienware m11x R.2 running Windows 7 x 64 SP1. Since the ole ' computer is still alive and kickin. I thought I'd do a quick refresher on the RAM for an inexpensive upgrade.

I'm not an expert but to build my own PC and was demolished and rebuilt this laptop particular (among others) several times. The upgrade of RAM has always been something that requires very little attention or other planning that by ensuring that you have compatible specifications.

I upgraded the RAM this laptop came with a year after the purchase of a Kingston Hyper-X. www.newegg.com/.../Product.aspx

I remember having no problem with the installation of this RAM and it was perfectly fine since then.

A few weeks ago, I ordered the DDR3L RAM, after starting the computer difficulties, I realized the error, but also said that the RAM must remain compatible with 1.5V power outlets. But maybe it was a compatibility problem, so I returned it regularly DDR3 RAM, shown here. http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820231582

Outside the actual size of RAM I don't see any other difference with specifications.

Here's the problem: when I install the new RAM I asked to do a startup repair. No matter if I select run repair or normally I get sent to windows startup. This repeatedly. When I re - install the old RAM is the same screen, but I'm able to start or I can choose to run the repair. (I did both.) This happens with DDR3 and DDR3L RAM. No difference.

I have triple checked that the RAM is installed correctly and BIOS sees all the 16 gb.

Advice and assistance is appreciated. Thank you.

  • Dell Inspiron 5521 | Upgrade RAM | Memory module

I have a laptop Dell Inspiron 5521 have 4 GB of RAM. I intend to add 8 GB of additional RAM.

    Thus, the total RAM would be 4 + 8 = 12 GB.

I found the following information in the Dell Specifications User Guide:

    Memory

    Connectors:

Inspiron 5521 two accessible DDR3 SODIMM connectors internally

Inspiron 5537 two accessible DDR3L SODIMM connectors internally

    Inspiron 5537 channel DDR3L

    Speed up to 1600 MHz

Supported configurations 2 GB, 4 GB, 6 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB

I found the following information of the memory by running the command on my laptop:

    Total Width: 64 bits

    Data Width: 64 bits

    Size: 4096 MB

    Form Factor: SODIMM

Question 1: is - it possible to add 4 + 8 = 12 GB configuration in this laptop?

Question 2: I have to use DDR3 instead of DDR3L RAM in this laptop?

Question 3: What RAM is better supported with this laptop, Kingston or CORSAIR Vengeance?

Note: I use Ubuntu on this Machine.

    1. Yes, but at a loss of performance.  It is designed for a pair of corresponding modules.

    2. or will work by itself.  Do not mix DDR3 and DDR3L though - if you have DDR3, use that; If L, use that if you add a module.

    3. critical is hard to beat, especially given its guarantee of compatibility when buying through their memory Configurator.  Anything else - ask the supplier on guarantees of compatibility (or make sure that you understand the possible of the restocking fee if a return is necessary).

    Hi all
  • Help on graphics card memory and upgrade for iMac

    Hello!

I need advice on a good new graphics card for iMac 27 inch end 2012. My work is mainly in animation, Visual effects and game development soon, so I need an additional card to increase my speed.

Currently, I have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2048 MB card. Do you think I should stick to a similar card? Is there something new that will offer me better performance at an affordable cost?

I don't have much money to spend, but I can certainly use additional graphics now.

I have also 2 remaining memory locations that accepts DDR3 1600 MHz memory module, but it seems that this module is no longer available. If I had to choose between a graphics card and RAM, which should I go with?

Finally, can I install these myself? I don't have any Apple Store around me and I do not trust the computer guys in my area.

First of all, the iMacs are notoriously difficult to make something with except add RAM. Here is a good site where you can get some info on the dismantling, etc.:

    https://www.iFixit.com/

Usually, graphics cards should be replaced with the same model/type of work (if any) - see above site for this kind of info. I'm quite sure that you cannot add just one - iMac is not designed for it.

Regarding the RAM, just check out OWC for necessary RAM:

    https://eShop.MacSales.com/shop/memory/iMac/2012_27/DDR3L

Check that your model is listed. I don't know where you would have been told that the RAM is no longer available (FWIW, Apple does not sell RAM and uses of third party RAM in the new Macs).

I'd go with the RAM - how many do you have now? Adding RAM is easy.
