HP m8100y: improve m8100y OS to Windows 10

I think of upgrading my m8100y to 10 Windows Vista.  Is HP support this model on Windows 10, as the firmware / drivers... etc.?  Does anyone have this configuration?  If so, how is the performance?

Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post want to upgrade your PC to Win10 - and I strongly recommend!

HP doesn't support the upgrade Win10 on PC after August 2013 - and yours is much longer than that.

HP provides no software or drivers Win10 for your PC, so you are then stuck with generic drivers that Microsoft provides.

In addition, there is no "upgrade path" from Vista to Win10, which means, you will be forced to do a clean install, and in this case, nothing is withheld on Vista - no applications, settings or data.

Sorry, but even the old PC Win7 have a lot of trouble to go to Win10. anything older than that is a waste of time.

I'm sick and tired of playing games (even 2d games) who hangs out on Windows 7 and not on any other OS.

I've disabled aero, update drivers, adjusted the display settings and tried a million ways to improve the basis of Windows 7 scores.

I'm stuck with a 3.1 and games is trolling like a miserable slug. Two days earlier, he jumped to 3.2 and I have seen a massive improvement in 2d games. (teas 2d games that need to run at 60 fps had prieviously ran to 20 to 35 pictures per second. After the jump for 3.2, they ran 40-50 fps)

Well now, they decided that they wanted to jump down to 3.1 and games act as slop again. I'm starting to become extremely unfortunate to have a Windows 7.

  • HP Pavilion g6: after having improved 8.1 to windows 10, which is on the recovery disk?

I'm new to the forum, I hope I posted in the right place.

After having improved 8.1 to 10, which is on the windows recovery disk? If this isn't windows 10 what should I do to create a new recovery disk? or should I remove it?

I have a USB recovery for windows 8.1 if I should need it.

I have created a disk to repair windows 10 and have a system image on an external hard drive.

I didn't beleave I need in fact the disk recovery that I have a backup option, but I would be nice to have the ability to recover from training. I understand the backup option that I have will allow me to get back if I lose the reader.

    Please notify

    Thank you in advance.

After having waited 22 days for a reply on the forum, I finally rang HP support.

The answer is that the recovery disk is windows 8. It has not been updated by windows 8.1 or 10.

Very, very disappointed that I couldn't have it on the forum.

Have posted that someone may have the same question.

  • How to improve the performance of Windows 7 64-bit with 2 TB of data?

How can I improve my computer with hush 2 t discs full of stuff?

I 8Giga ram and cpu I7 2600 always search or avg scan takes a long time.

Yes - well - you said you have 2 TB of stuff and research/research of virus could affect all the files you have / designate to the touch.  Defragment and CHKDSK would take time as well - because you have 2 TB of things.  However, every day use applications, etc. should not be affected by your disks are.

It's like having a nice, well-made workbook... Opening the drawers is not really more difficult as long as the drawers are not too filled where something can hang on a mechanism - but when you start to look for a certain file or find another reason to finger - per each page in a certain drawer (or the entire workbook) - it takes time.

Can help your processor speed, the amount of memory can help, have indexed the whole disc will help with research (just as with applications other than those built into Windows - there are better there, IMHO) - but analysis all virus files - this isn't something you can accelerate much and will be determined by the speed of the drive the size and the location/organizing files and tastes.

Wants best performance on a drive - get a SSD, or three or more quickly from SATA and RAID them together.  This will help the speed of these things.

  • The upgrade of RAM will improve the speed side Windows and Mac?

I use VMware fusion for music production and this program requires plenty of work. I have a MacBook Pro 4 GB of ram and when I turn on VMware it goes to 2 GB of ram in Mac and 2 GB ram under windows. My Mac's speed is normal when VMware fusion is off but when I turn on my Mac is very slow. The upgrade of ram will improve the speed on mac and also windows (windows is also very slow)

BTW, my English is not very good

Well, take a peek in the Windows Task Manager to see how much memory is required/used. If an operating system requires more memory available, it will start to swap out the disk, which will introduce a huge performance impact. If the answer to your question is probably yes.

PS: After adding memory to the host, you must also change the client memory for the virtual machine.

You need to locate the old profile folder in backup windows.old.

    In Windows, the location is:

    • XP: C:\Documents and Settings\ < user > < profile > \Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.
    • Vista/Windows 7: C:\Users\ < user > < profile > \AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\.

"Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders

Search for the latest drivers on the website of the manufacturer of your video card. Manually search for on the site, don't use no matter what scanner because it and the one in the device manager - driver updates can find old drivers certified, Microsoft is well behing certifying new driver.

If you need help to find them look in control panel - display adapter - device management

Tell us the brand and model with driver Dates and Versions.

Also allows a fast video card but I'd check the driver 1.

  • Compatibility with Windows 7 says I can improve my system to Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Ultimate edition. Also, can I switch to Windows 7 Pro?

    Vista to Win 7 Pro

I ran Win 7 compatibility program on my laptop Vista HP Pavilion DV9700 Core 2 Duo and he said that I can upgrade to Home Premium or Ultimate.  What is Pro? (I Pro works on an old Toshiba P4 laptop...)

Yes, it can run Windows 7 Professional, but you can do a custom installation.

The reason why he recommend Home Premium or full, is because there is no place in Windows Vista Edition upgrade Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. Windows Vista Home Premium is only supported in place of ultimate or home edition Premium upgrade paths, this means that your personal files, installed applications and settings will be preserved.

When important changes to your computer, for example an upgrade, it is always recommended that you back up your system before installing a new version of Windows. In your case, you can upgrade to Windows 7 depending on the edition and the architecture of Windows Vista, you have installed. If you are running a 32-bit version of Vista and upgrade to a 64-bit (Windows 7 edition) version, you'll have a pure make install, it is the opposite case.

If you are using Windows Vista Home Basic or Premium consumer editions, you can only upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate. In addition, you can make downgrades, which means, if you are running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition now, you cannot downgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium. You perform logical upgrades:

Windows Vista Home Basic > Windows 7 Home Basic, Premium or Ultimate

Windows Vista Edition Home Premium > Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate

Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Professional, enterprise or ultimate edition

Windows Vista Business > Windows 7 Enterprise

Windows Vista Ultimate > Windows 7 Ultimate.

  • Elitepad 900: Windows 10

While improving my Elitepad to Windows 10 900, it turned off in the process (he says he should reboot several times), but never turned back.  Now, the tablet will not illuminate at all (nothing happens). I unplugged and tried to start on battery, no luck. Reconnect the power supply, again no luck.  If anyone else has experienced this problem and is there a solution?

Hi everyone, I thought about it.  I remembered talking to HP a few years there on the tabley do not start the system and he told me what to do.  You hold the power and volume button up to start.  I did it, it would start said it was an error in the installation of 10 and then re-installed Windows automatically go back to Windows.  The re-intall seemed to work.  Check my files programs, etc. and did not find any problem.  Will stick to 8.1.

  • Satellite A110-178 - updated from XP to Windows 7

    Hello

I have a Satellite A110-178 and I would improve my OS from Windows XP to Windows 7.
I've never installed new drivers or a new BIOS on my laptop, so I guess that many of them are outdated.

    What's the smartest thing?
Update drivers and/or BIOS before upgrading to Windows 7? Or install Windows 7 and install the necessary drivers later?

In the event that the BIOS should be updated: as there is no BIOS update available for Windows 7, what version of BIOS is the right one to pick?

    Thanks for the info!

    Kind regards
    Oliver

    Hi Oliver,.

First of all an upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 isn't possible of t. This means you need to do a new clean install and after that, you can install all drivers.

An upgrade to Windows 7 is possible in Vista but not XP.

The update of the BIOS is normally not necessary. This update should be carried out only if it of really necessary.
