HP Media Center m8200n won't find card WinTv

OS Win 7 64 - bit, 8 GB of ram, nVidia 610 card with 2 GB of ram, 1800 WinTv card went out got another card and replaced by the Win TV 1850. Tried to install the driver disc supplied but the result is a message that says: there is no device found. What to do to fix this problem.

Update: it turns out that the slots on the motherboard was bad. Replace the motherboard with the same type and this has solved the problem with WinTV cards does not. Now don't seem to be able to get the IR receiver to work. I loaded the last disk and windows has always said that there is a problem with the drivers. Hauppauge contacted on the issue. I think that the receiver itself may be bad. Thanks for all the help that has been published. It help me to identify the problem.

Looks like maybe the slot of PCIx1 has failed and it could also be that the original card Win TV may not be gone, if the housing has failed.  Inspect the area around the slot to see if all observable bad connections exist. Also inspect the contact surface in the slot with a magnifying glass.  A problem like this is not unheard of but is rare.

Without replacing the power supply, the EVGA NVIDIA GT 240 1 GB GDDR5 should work. This card is spec'd for a PSU with 18 amps of bus + 12 volts. This card can stretch your PSU, but give it a try.  I have this card in my system of m9200t.  This card will give the treatment a real helping hand from your video.

I don't know if the Upgrade Advisor can really help me.  I have a m8200n and it is runnin vista Home premium.  Currently, it works very well for me and I'm not really bothered that much by vista.  I don't want to risk an upgrade and have problems.  I prefer to do a clean install on a new drive sata hard...  As I try to run ideally as a 64-bit system.   Is it possible that I can know for sure if I fail to do that?  Cost me $199 at least for an OEM version of Windows 7 Professional over at least $100 for a decent 1 TB SATA HDD... $300 to be a Guinea pig is a lot of money when I could buy a whole new machine starting around this price?  What is your opinion on the m8200n?  I like to use the remote control that comes with it to control Windows Media Center to record...  Help?

No luck. I downloaded the SP3 and tried to install it in safe mode. He failed. Whenever he is in the final stage and then crashes. It does not provide an error message. I let it run all night but no progress, and then I have to close it with the Task Manager.

• Media Center PC M8120N: m8120n + video card

I know that she is an old PC, but it's a beast and I love it. We have been through a lot!

So my video card old (er) a Geforce 9800 GT 1 GB, PCIe 2.0 gave the soul (grated fan roll).  Got a new Geforce 730 GT, 2 GB, PCIe 2.0. I get the video at startup (see initial logo card etc) and when Vista is finished loading, go to Device Manager, system, he can't see 'standard VGA' display with an exclamation point and can't find the drivers or the card geforce 730.

I checked the Bios settings and set to PCIe instead of PCI - I don't think there are other video settings that I can adjust elsware (that I know) and the Bios is to 5.09, which I think is the 'last and only' last and best. I guess there's a chipset who does not like the MOBO on the new map, which would really suck!

My last ditch effort is to blow Vista away (maybe a driver issue Windows) and install fees, he needs anyway...

Even is it's bad news, thanks in advance for your comments...

-Jas

You are the very welcome.

Pretty well, I thought it was the question.

Have you just remove and replace the video card, and if you had been able to uninstall the old video card and drivers in Device Manager, you may not have had to go through the hassle of reinstall.

But now you have the advantage of a beautiful new installation of Vista and a new video card to get started.

I had to do once me when the drivers would be in any way, shape or install a card Radeon HD 2400, I once installed in an old PC.

Bluff and reinstalled the OS, and everything was fine.

Enjoy!

• Pavilion Media Center m8430f Desktop video card replacement

For about a month now my desktop computer Pavilion Media Center m8430f is at the origin of the yellow spots, blue stripes and dots to arrive on the screen then the computer hangs. Moniter is a G185h Acer which I use from 2010 when the original monitor is released.  I also get yellow wavy lines then in safe mode.

So the thought is the video card went bad and needs replaced.  I picked up a Galaxy GeForce NVIDIA GT 610 to replace the NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT. Two questions - will be my Pavilion Media Center m8430fbe to handle this card? How could I go on install?  I checked the instructions to install a new video card, but none of them relates to my machine.

I thank you in advance for any help or insght, you can give in this case.

According to the specifications of your desktop PC and your new GalaxyTech video card, it should be a good fit and work without problems.

You connected a different view to make sure that was not the view South instead of the video card prior to purchase of the video card?

I will try to find a video for you on how to replace the map.  Fact!

The video I found must be adapted. Your original PCI Express X 16 video card not a probably not power connector 6 pin which is described in the video, or the connector on the fan.

The video author does not mention it, but for safety reasons, remove the power connector. Unplugging everything. Working with the PC as it does and use a table or a workbench with everything external to the offline desktop.

• Can I upgrade the RAM on my computer Windows XP Media Center?

I have a computer that is running Windows XP Media Center. He has two cards Kingston 1 G ram and 2 empty slots. I want to add memory and I was wondering if I can add two 4G memory cards in the 2 blanks at a higher rate of megaHZ? Card mother Intel's core 2 duo @2.13 MHz.

original title: add more memory?

There is so much wrong with your question.

1. your version of Windows (XP Media Center edition) can support a maximum of 4 GB of RAM (actually, he won't be able to use all the 4 GB, but that's another story).

2. your mother unidentified may or may not be able to support 1 G in each of the two slots and 4 G each other 2 locations.

3. your mother unidentified may or may not tolerate speeds of memory do not match.  If this is the case, the memory will operate at the slower speed of the module.

If you decide to switch to an operating system to 64-bit (which could use 8 - or 10 - GB of RAM), either look for your motherboard specifications or use the memory Advisor Crucial tool http://www.crucial.com/index.aspx or Kingston or another provider memory to determine what your system can take in charge.

• Suddenly lost all ABC channels in Vista Media Center

I have been using Vista Home Premium Media Center (v 6.0.6001.18000) with no problems for about six months.  Three days ago my remote control receiver box has stopped working (not), so I did what worked on the only other occasion it has went and passed the USB port to another port, which once solved the problem yet.  Shortly after, I discovered that all the channels (TV and radio) CBA had ceased to work in Media Center.  I tried it worked a few days scanning internet with no luck - please help!  Here's the situation:
. I confirmed that are still broadcast channels ABC - when I plug my antenna directly into the TV, they're all here
. my Media Center PC also shows the strings perfectly happy ABC via the software (Lifeview MFP) for the TV (TV Express X 1 MST-T2A2) tuner card
. I reread several times channels in Media Center, and he correctly finds some 20 stations available in my area (Canberra, Australia), including all those on the strip of ABC (205 625 according to Lifeview)
. but when I try to go to the ABC TV or radio channels in Media Center, Live TV or even in the preview to Add channels, I get the error 'No TV signal' dreaded
. I'm back from the control box remote to the original USB port, where he worked with happiness once again, but the ABC channels are still missing.

Any suggestions gratefully received :)

(This is the first time I never posted on a forum, so apologies if I've not done it right)

Found the solution for me on my two machines,

Had to add the EnableAutoOffset DWORD key in the registry and the value 1

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} \0008\Parameters]
"EnableAutoOffset" = DWORD: 00000001

The 0008\Parameters varies depending on your tv card. Is better to follow the excellent instructions in this thread http://www.xpmediacentre.com.au/community/tuners-vista/33832-no-sbs-channels-working-darwin.html

It worked on my two machines, without having to even rescan channels.
Thanks to Troy to ABC for his help and none to MS.

Thanks to tro n [i]
n tro; 245833'] It is a bit important enough ;)

I decided to do something for my SBS problem this morning, and jsttry was on the spot with his post... I've documented the process a bit to help make things clearer :)

First thing you need is a special identification number, the sound for your TV Tuner, and to get it, he must pull up the Device Manager, then go to the properties of the map screen. Go to the Details tab, and then choose class GUID of device in the dropdown... mine was the same thing that jsttry, but just to be sure, I suggest double checking (it takes 2 seconds!)
[IMG] http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/5229/tvcard1.jpg [line]

Next step is to edit the registry, of course save it etc before doing anything.
Navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ [/ size] Control\Class\]
Select the identification number we have identified earlier in the list and expand that... It should be a bunch of numbers, many of which are extensible - click on those who seek to detail that popup in the main screen, you are looking for your TV card so it should be labeled clearly enough
[IMG] http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/9439/tvcard2.jpg [line]

Once you have found that, click settings, click with the right button in the main section of the screen to enter a new DWORD value and call it [I] EnableAutoOffset [/ i] and give it a value of 1
[IMG] http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/1306/tvcard3.jpg [line]

Restart the machine, and SBS might work if we don't have * anything upwards. It worked for me :) [/ quote]

• can I download windows media center

Hi Alain,

Windows Media Center is a feature that is inside Windows and you could not download it separately. If your edition of Windows comes with media center, then you might find it in the menu start otherwise, you must run edition as Windows Media Center, included in this document, which is Windows XP Media Edition.

However, you might consider getting a Windows 7 that is running Windows Media Center.

• HP pavilion media center a1610n pci slot?

Hello, I have a hp pavilion media center a1610n I bought 6 years ago and it still works great! However I just bought a new graphics card to update my computer a bit and the card company chart says my computer needs to have a location express pci 2.0
How can I tell if my computer is compatible with this graphics card and what type of pci slot I have? Help, please!

Here are the specifications of your HP Pavilion Media Center a1610n desktop and its card mother A8M2N-(NodusM3). According to specifications, your system was introduced on August 4, 2006 and has a slot PCIe x 16 for a graphics card. Based on this information, I guess he has a PCIe v1.1 location. This should be compatible with most cards PCIe v2.0, but will have problems with PCIe v2.1 and latest maps. Another element to consider is the power to your computer. Many, if not more, HP computers of consumers of this era came with 250 watts power supplies and the vast majority of the PCIe x 16 graphics card requires a minimum assessment of 300 watt or greater system.

• I need the updated drivers for Conexant 23880 Video Capture (Blackbird NTSC double entry) and Conexant 2388 x MPEG Encoder. Media Center won't work... It does not find my tuner.

It worked fine on previous versions of Windows including Vista Ultimate. I'm now running Windows 7 Ultimate.

The correct URL is

http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=PV-17741-2&LC=en&DLC=en&cc=us&product=392513&OS=228&lang=en

This does not mean that the procedures above do not work, but I did the following:

1. Download and run spring 2004 original TV Tuner Driver Collection (sp24012.exe)
2. Open the Device Manager
3. Uninstall the wrong drivers Conexant highlighted by the yellow triangle with exclamation point. Click on delete to remove the driver
4. Disconnect from the internet
5. In Device Manager, click Action > search the hardware changes (if you don't unplug Internet, a ToolTip is displayed informing you that drivers are updated from the internet. Click on the bubble, make right click in the window that opens, click on cancel the update)
6. Follow the instructions to install the drivers from C:\hp\drivers\TVTuner

Windows Media Center should recognize your TV tuner.
