HP Mediasmart DVD - Blu Ray problem

Hi I have a HP Pavilion dv6t-2300.

Last month I had a problem when trying to play a few blurays with smart media. It was as if the Player tries to rplay disc, but after some time nothing happened, if I tried to update the software, but it shows an error during installation (something on this topic couldn't find a dll file in the folder of mediasmart dvd), I tried to uninstall it but displayed the same problem. After struggling with it, I decided to restore my laptop with the recovery discs.

It worked, I was able to watch my blurays, but recently the same problem came back. So I did a little research and I found that the PC or device manager sees 2 readers of comics (F and H). I also found that I can see all the files on disc bluray but I can't play any of them media smart dvd.

I also installed the Power DVD 10 to test as a trial and it cannot read the movies either, it says that the disk has a format of media unrecognize, or something like that.

So I decided to try to update with the latest version (4.2.4701), but the error I mentioned earlier, appeared once again, I have the previous version (4.1.4328).

As the media smart dvd worked until now I run only a few updates of windows and the HP updates (like the quick launch buttons and chipset). I wonder if these updates have something to do with the problem.

BTW: I can watch DVD movies without problem in the DVD Smart Media, the problem occurs only with the BD discs.

I hope you can help me...

Thanks in advance.

You can post a screenshot of what you see in 'computer '?

You use a virtual drive?

Here's what yours should look like.

Drive 'E' is the second last next to drive Clone as appropriate so that DVD MS is going to see it.

any ideas on how to make if it is possible to solve this problem?  Thank you!!

    Hello

You have a virtual drive installed on the laptop software?  If so, uninstall it (at least temporarily) and restart the computer before trying the following.

HP now provides a version of PowerDVD 10 Cyberlinks which seems to be a better solution.  Download the latest installer for it on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp56501-57000/sp56904.exe

Once the download is complete, open windows control panel, open programs and features, make a right click the entry for HP MediaSmart DVD and select uninstall - when this process is complete, restart the laptop.

When windows has reloaded, open your downloads folder and double-click Setup for PowerDVD 10 start the installation.  Once this done, see if your Blu - ray disc now plays OK.

If it play Ok now and you didn't need to uninstall any virtual drive software, try to reinstall right now to see if the issue Returns or not.

  • No longer autoplay video disks (DVD / Blu - Ray) (NOW RESOLVED)

I use windows 7 Professional (x 64) and have this annoying bug.

As of today, when I insert a Blu - Ray or DVD video disc, I get this error:

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file.  May not permissions to access you the item. »

I am the administrator of my PC and there is NO secondary accounts.  Guest account is disabled.

There should be NO problem with permissions as I have full control of all my records and files.

This only happens with video discs and not to other disks.  I tried Google, but have found no chance whatsoever.

I can still access the files via windows Explorer, so I don't have access to the disk.  So why make this error instead of automatic reading I want to use.  When I insert a video disc, I want it automatically run my program of DVD/Blu-Ray and not spit this error at me.

I had this problem last year and he only went after a reformat of my boot drive and a clean reinstall of windows.  I want do not undergo this nightmare again.

    Please help.

I have no fear to think, but I solved the problem myself seconds after this thread.  AutoPlay is borked and DVD and Blu - Ray discs have been set to open a program not belonging is not in movies.  I put the function Autoplay use Arcsoft TotalMedia 5 to open when you insert a movie DVD or Blu - Ray and all roses.  I will not close this thread in case other users with this issue of stüble on it and the solution works for them also that google gave no miracle for what actually solved this problem.

You must have a third-party program to run Blu - ray discs.

Your new PC must have provided with software to play. Otherwise, I'd contact the manufacturer and see if she did or why it didn't.

  • HP HPE337C answer DVD Blu - Ray?

HPE337C answer DVD Blu - Ray?

Yes, he does.  Once I passed this request, I found that he scored on the front of the multimedia disc tray.  I don't currently have all the Blu - Ray discs but you want to get one and give it a shot.

Just finished watching "War horse" on the 27 "monitor.  It was not Blu - Ray, but as big screen, it was spectacular.  I have a Phillips DVR that I bought several years at Wal-Mart.  It will record TV on a 160GIG hard drive and burn a DVD of any program on the hard disk.  It is in the shop right now for the ejected disc repair.  I hope that it will be OK, because they aren't making them more and other manufacturers are about to phase out their units.  Sad

  • Project yet for DVD & Blu - ray - I can clone it?

    Hello

I have a video ready to be exported from PremierePro and recorded in PAL 16:9 Full HD. Now, I need to create a DVD and a Blu - ray of the same video disc.

I want to only create a project and then clone so that I can use it for both media.

I have already created a project yet, pick a HD theme. I have now completed everything: I've only worked on the menu but no video, jet.

I would like to know if I can now duplicate the folder and dedicate a folder (still draft) for the DVD and the other folder for Blu - Ray or if this is not possible. I think this should be possible, because if the video is 16:9 for the two media there should be no difference; but do not know.

Don't forget, I've changed most of what the HD model had. I used just a few things.

If this is not possible, can you please teach me how to work on the menus and the preparation of the DVD, before I have to insert the video, once when I create two separate circles in order to reproduce the customizations?

I wish to create two projects still separate and do create all the menu from scratch twice.

Also, is there a valid book that I can buy being devoted to yet or is not required (perhaps because there is a lot of documentation on the Internet)? I learn properly.

    Thank you

In theory, this should be possible, but in reality I would create certainly 2 separate projects.

The main reason is that Blu - ray is 1920 x 1080 square pixels, DVD-video is 720 x 576 (PAL - more on this subject in a minute), and the pixels are rectangular, with the report being in the area of 1.4 PAL: 1 that can destroy a menu if simply scale you down because not only you lose half of your resolution vertical & almost 2/3 of your horizontal resolution , the pixels will be being stretched as well horizontally.

For these reasons, you will need to choose fonts on the screen very carefully for the DVD version and I would be absolutely for certainty make 2 separate menu fixed if it was my project.

PAL is not really an ideal standard to use, as it has a rate of 25 frames per second and you're simply unplayable outside the EU on the vast majority of the players & TV systems - you will definitely trouble to Japan & US.

To make things even more difficult, you can't use progressive scan in PAL resolution either - it's just not in the Blu - ray standard - you will need to use interlaced.

The video is probably the least of your worries, however. First & still may reduce but also make the necessary encoding MPEG-2 for DVD - personally I'd this separate 2 processes, review the decline in SD resolution first to a provisional 10-bit lossless codec and this review of a problem before I did the final version of MPEG-2 for DVD.

    Hope this helps

  • DVD/Blu-Ray

Hi all, in a month or so I record a show on stage and it would be great to offer a DVD and a Blu - Ray player. I have experience with burning DVDs, even, but I've never done a Blu - Ray player. My question is not how to burn a blu - ray because I don't know that I can understand that, but my question is - easy is it to burn a dvd and blu - ray from the same project again? or is it something where I have to create a completely new project yet. I don't know how all this works because disks are at different resolutions and sizes, and all that. Thank you!

Do not assume that you can burn a Blu - ray. Still has a history of problems with burns, and Blu - Ray were more trouble than DVDs. The common solution is to build a Blu - ray image and burn with ImgBurn (for PC) or toast (for Mac).

Blu - Ray allow some things that the DVD doesn't (context menus, the menus MultiPage, the better resolution/color in the menu highlights). Do not assume that they will work to ensure that test you your workflow.

Still allows you to create Blu - ray and DVD on the inside of the same project. The consensus of the return time was that it often leads to problems. It seems to work for some users. Because iron is different (the size is not so much the problem), a HD menu could cause problems for the DVD.

The safest method was to use separate projects.

Bottom line, test your workflow (using the exact camera models that you will use) well in advance.

  • Issue computer and dvd/blu-ray

    Hello

I am writing to ask several questions that I just got a new computer to laptop Acer ES1-511-C723.

On the right side of the laptop, there is a cover over where a reader of cd/dvd/blu-reay sat.

My questions are regarding the addition of a disk to the laptop.

First the computer can support an internal hard drive?

I see the slot but do not know if the power supply could handle a drive.

Also if it could support a car if she could manage a blu - ray player or on cd/dvd?

If I can manage a drive is just plug-and-play, which simply means remove the laptop cover and slide a?

Or most of the people just buy an external hard drive?

I don't know how ofter I would use the drive as o even my office take it is only once every few weeks give ot.

    It's for my questions.

    Thanks in advance

    Drauka

You can do this, but it would be much easier and cheaper to get a DVD USB drive.

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I see that you are looking to upgrade your optical drive that supports the Blu Ray. Here is your Service and Maintenance Guide for your model. On page 50, you'll find instructions on how to do it and the part number (659996-001) for the optical drive with Blu-Ray capabilities.
