If it does not, it could be a problem with the connection cables and you should give us a call on repair options.  You can reach HP Total Care at 1-800-474-6836 in North America or Start here if you live outside of North America.

  • Reinstalled XP on laptop, now the keyboard keys are not mapped correctly

    Hello world

    I recently reinstalled Windows XP on my laptop because it became mega sucky and slow after three years to have. In any case, the keys on the keyboard are not how they were originally. For example, pressing SHIFT + ' originally produced @, now is '. '. Also initially produced shift + 2 "now it's @." There are a few questions like these across the keyboard. Could someone point me in the right direction to solve this?

    Thank you very much!

  • Windows Vista "Tilde" key does not not on laptop

    I have a HP Pavilion laptop. Last week everything worked well. I closed the computer and closed the screen. A week later, when I returned home and restart the computer my tilde on the keyboard key does not work.

    I checked the driver and everything was fine. I ran a check for malware and came up with nothing. I tried using a different user profile and it still didn't work.

    All other work except this key keyboard key. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    The issue could be with the keyboard. Try to connect another keyboard USB (if available) and check if the key works in it.

    If the keyboard is the problem, you need to replace in order to get this to work. You can also try blowing air through fan or something similar to blow off the dust in the keys, cause of dust inside the keys have this problem.

    While OS reinstall too much trouble, if this isn't the hardware problem. I encountered this problem once. But the key doesn't work is not is "Alt".

    I see from my records that a similar case has been solved by uninstalling and reinstalling the update WAT - KB971033

    Open the Windows Update - click the link view updates installed on the left of the page

    in the list, find the WAT update KB971033, and then uninstall it.

    Then restart and reinstall the update from here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033

  • Laptop computer Toshiba space bar does not work

    Hello

    I have a toshiba satellite, computer laptop windows 7. About a month ago I accidentally spilled water on the keyboard and now my space bar does not work. I bought a USB keyboard and connected to my laptop and I'm still having the same problem (USB keyboard SPACEBAR does not work). I am currently using alt + 255 instead of the space bar that takes time. What can I do so that this problem be resolved? Please help, I'm desperate!

    Hello

    Test space: try the bottom left edge, top edge, edge straight and at least 3 spots on the top of the space bar

    Still no space for any position?

    Hold the FN key?

    My first suggestion would be to buy a can of air and blow under the two keys.  See how much "dirt and dust or" or whatever it may be below the key.  Test your keyboard again.

    If you still get no response from your space bar, try

    Panel, on ease of access, click Accessibility, and then clicking on the computer without mouse and keyboard.

    Check the use on-screen Keyboard.

    Using the keyboard on the screen for a few minutes then go back and disable it.

    Try keyboard Satellite - space works now?

    Safe boot mode. Space bar works in Mode safe?  If so, it's a software problem.  Perform a full recovery to the default settings.

    Another possibility would be to remove the keyboard and check the connection of the cable to the motherboard.  Some are pushing and some adjustment tight connections.  Give visual control and also make sure he feels comfortable and tight.  Once more to test your keyboard.  If it still does not work, I would say replace the keyboard.

    Please help, my brightness adjustment does not work. I've updated the bios, it downgraded, updated software, downloaded the chipsets, but it doesn't work. Any other suggestions, cos the screen is too bright, and my glasses is quite thick

    Spoiler (Highlight to read)

    Hello:

    You probably need to install graphic driver for your laptop.

    If you see that a Basic Microsoft display adapter listed under the category of display device manager cards, then you are missing the graphics driver, this is why you cannot adjust the brightness among other graphics.

    Since there is no W10 graphics driver for your model, try the W8:

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?sp4ts.Oid=5225013&swItemId=ob_114236_1&swEnvOid=4132

    If the pilot does not automatically install, try to install manually by navigating to the folder of the driver that was created when you ran the driver.

  • My product key does not work on my laptop

    I have to perform a renistall and it does not accept the product key from the sticker on the bottom of my laptop and I don't know what to do.

    Im not pay money for the disks to do this, if this isn't an option. IM told to do a reinstal complete as its got very buggy and messy. Also, it's a laptop. the f8-11 will not do anything. his serious work does well on some users it used to recognize the cd drive.

    As for the CD/DVD drive; you will need to get it fixed if you can't start it.

    Now, you have 2 choices (as you say the AED to the recovery Partition do not work), you have already explained.

    It is to you that you are using

    Microsoft didn't supply OEM (DEll, HP, Acer, etc.) pre-installed Vista computers with Vista DVD.

    Contact the manufacturer of your laptop and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
  • Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 appears as mouse HID-complaint only, and does not appear in Intellipoint correctly
    I just installed the mouse on my laptop Dell D820 running Windows 7 Ultimate (all the fullyy patched)
    The mouse is recognized by the system and displayed both Bluetooth devices and devices windows with the correct name: Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000.  It works also.
    However when I open Microsoft Mouse and go to the tab buttons, it is reported no. Microsoft USB mouse detected which means that I can not configure the buttons, etc.
    And when I go to the Hardware tab reports the mouse as a mouse HID-complaint that is so, it also appears in Device Manager.
    So far I have tried:
    • Remove the mouse, and then reinstall (in a number of different ways).  When he returned, he is reported as 'unidentified device' and the device driver indicates a driver installation failed
    • Uninstalling and reinstalling Intellipoint - latest version downloaded and installed to sweat
    • The mouse of uninstall, reboot and reinstall the mouse
    All very irritating.   Any suggestions to get the system fully recognize the mouse, please
    See http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=099&active_tab=systemRequirements.
    IntelliPoint is not necessary and does not support the Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000. The buttons are not configurable.
    There are some other Bluetooth Microsoft mouse which are supported by IntelliPoint, and the buttons can be configured.
